Intro:
This is my take on the Wild N'Zoth Hunter archetype. This deck isn't the best if you're just interested in quickly climbing the ladder but it is super fun and still highly viable. I have used this deck to get from rank 20 to rank 8 within 50 or so games. A lot of these losses were due to misplays on my part or just really bad rng but there are some decks this deck auto-loses/struggles with that I'll go over with in the guide. It is important to note that throughout my journey climbing the ladder, I have been constantly tweaking the deck to fit the meta in my rank so I recommend you do the same if you wish to be successful. I'm also still constantly trying to improve the deck and test out different things so feel free to leave me some feedback.
`Guide still in progress. I plan to explain a lot more things in the deck. I'll work on it when I have more free time available.
Mulligan Guide:
General:
Against Control, you'll just be looking for a good curve and, depending on how slow the game will be, high-value cards such as Play Dead,Stitched Tracker,Deathstalker Rexxar, and Sylvanas Windrunner. Look out for good combos like Candleshot+Hunter's Mark too. You'll also usually want to keep Bloodmage Thalnos and Scientist. Lastly, keep in mind that sometimes you'll have to be the aggressor in a matchup and pressure them as much as possible before you can finish them off with beasts from Deathstalker Rexxar or a board flood from N'Zoth, the Corruptor.
Against Aggro, you'll want to be able to be able to deal with a bunch of small tokens early on until you can stabilize with your defensive cards. Mulligan for Candleshot, Mad Scientist, Explosive Trap, Unleash the Hounds, and/or Quick Shot, Consider keeping Deathstalker Rexxar if you have some of these anti-aggro cards so that you get additional AOE and can start stabilizing.
Special Cases: *incomplete, thorough writeups will be up later
Togwaggle Druid: Be the aggressor and pressure the opponent into both their Posion Seeds and Spreading Plague before you put down your N'Zoth. You'll be on a timer throughout the whole match and won't be able to out-damage all their armor gain without powerful beasts from Rexxar or a board flood from N'Zoth. The key to winning this match is from getting multiple N'Zoths from Zola the Gorgon or Stitched Tracker and/or getting a poisonous Exploding Bloatbat zombeast that can clear your opponents board quickly. It is very important to note that you should be cautious of making and holding on to powerful zombeasts (especially the board clear ones as I mentioned before) since they can just play all of them for 1 mana when they complete their combo.
Jade Druid: Pressure them enough to use all their Posion Seeds and Spreading Plague and then kill them with N'Zoth
Big Priest: Mulligan for Sylvanas
Even Warlock: Mulligan for Sylvanas, Play Dead, Candle Shot, and Hunter's Mark
Replacements: *incomplete, here is a quick and dirty list
- Replace the secrets as you see fit.
- You can replace Zola the Gorgon with another Stitched Tracker. Make even a Baleful Banker although I haven't experimented with that card yet.
- You can replace Barnes with a tech card of your liking. Whatever you feel like the deck is lacking basically. This card isn't very crucial and is just in the deck for the decent stats and great highroll potential.
- I would consider Deathstalker Rexxar and Sylvanas Windrunner very crucial to the deck and by giving them up, you will be shaving off your win percentage by a good amount. However, if you still want to play the deck without them you can try tech-ing them out for Corpse Widow,Terrorscale Stalker, Carnivorous Cube, or any other strong deathrattle synergy card.
- N'Zoth, the Corruptor is basically the whole identity of the deck and I do not recommend playing the deck without him. The best replacement suggestion I can offer is Carnivorous Cube, Play Dead, and Feign Death shenanigans but at that point you might as well be playing a better deck suited towards that.
Closing Remarks:
Just hope you have fun with the deck. I encourage you to edit the deck to your liking. Here's my performance with the deck so far if you're interested. Most of these wins are from the rank 5-10 bracket and the rank 10-15 bracket.
Great deck. Reached rank 5 with one of the previous versions of it. Thanks man!
I think Shaw is way better than Barnes RNG.
Have you considered adding Kathrena to the deck? I feel that she could work really well here. If she pulls a highmane, thats two great targets for N'zoth. I'm sure there are a lot of other good beasts that would work with a good deathrattle.
Hm, feel free to experiment with it as the meta in your bracket changes but, for the most part, I wouldn't recommend putting it in the deck. The deck already has plenty of value cards and would benefit more from some sort of tech card than another super slow value card.
its small trying of deck, you should play 50 games at least to see natural winrate
You're right. I'll update the post in a couple days once I reach a higher number of games played. I'm at 35 games played right now and the winrate seems to be hovering around 70%.
Hi,care to give more info?
What rank you played for this 71%?
Thanks :)
Sorry for the late reply. I'll update the post with more details probably tomorrow (pretty busy with finals right now). I saw a steady 70%+ winrate from ranks 20-10 and I am currently in the rank 5-10 bracket and am seeing it fluctuate between 68-70%.
