Hello Hearthpwn! There was a high demand for a deck guide of my Malygos - Quest - Druid I hit the Legend Rank on EU with a Score of 26:6 (81% Winrate). Be warry! This deck is quite hard to pilot, but rewards you with a great Winrate in the current Meta.
Your gameplan is to complete Jungle Giants preferred before turn 10, play Barnabus the Stomper, then draw a bunch of Combo Cards with Ultimate Infestation, Branching Paths, Wrath or Wild Growth to kill your opponent from hand with the following damage potential:
Malygos + 2x Moonfire = 12 DMG
Malygos + Spells + 1 Faceless Manipulator = + 10 DMG each Spell (2x Malygos on Board)
Malygos + Spells + 2 Faceless Manipulator = + 15 DMG each Spell (3x Malygos on Board)
Malygos + Spells + 1 Faceless Manipulator + Ixlid, Fungal Lord = + 20 DMG each Spell (4x Malygos on Board)
Malygos + Spells + 2 Faceless Manipulator + Ixlid, Fungal Lord = + 30 DMG each Spell (6x Malygos on Board)
I was testing old versions of Malygos - Quest - Druids in the past and the current meta, but it never felt powerful enough to even consider it a T2 Deck. Most of the time, I lost to aggressive Decks. Even midrange and control gave me a hard time.
So this was the point where I analyzed the weak spots of the deck to fill in the cards I was missing or thought I need for better performance:
- The Lich King + Baron Geddon + Fatespinner - Nourish:
A great weakness of Druid since Vanilla Hearthstone is an opposing wide and tough board for example seen in Murloc Decks or ZOO, pushing you at the early stage to midgame. Despite Druid gaining good cards like Spreading Plague, Druid still suffers to aggressive board focused Decks. So I tested cards that get Jungle Giants going and at the same time clear the board. Baron Geddon and Fatespinner worked out perfectly. To make room in my Deck, I had to cut The Lich King, because he didn’t help my gameplan too much despite being an 8 attack minion. Adding up to this Nourish felt kind of weak too because I didn’t need the ramp in any game at 5 Mana.
+ Naturalize:
You need Hard Removal, so we play 1 off Naturalize to deal with Warlocks or Recruit Hunters. This is also important because we can't play any silence effect in the Deck.
+ Wrath instead of Lesser Jasper Spellstone:
Lesser Jasper Spellstone is most of the time a cheap and efficient Spell, but you have to buff it up. Me being an old school druid fanatic, I just like Wrath more, because you are able to draw with it in the late game phase. Draw decides between winning with my combo or losing later on.
No Ferocious Howl:
I don’t like this card because only drawing before playing Barnabus the Stomper is not good at all. Expensive combo cards should make you sad. Branching Paths is what you are looking for.
- Jungle Giants (Always keep it)
- Oaken Summons
- Cursed Disciple
- Fatespinner
- Wrath vs Aggro (Vicious Fledgling), Rogue (Hench-Clan Thug) and Shaman (Mana Tide Totem)
- Harrison Jones vs Tempo Mage or Cube Warlock
Great deck, fun to play, with a high winrate in this meta, love to play it
I play it without Alexstrasza and with The Lich King
we dont need 6 malygos every game. facelles are for using them into golems or devilsaur , good enemy taunts or same shit. and this 2mana we have from taldaram nothing to use
Hey! This decks looks awesome, but I was wondering if it's still good after they made those changes to the quest
