Hello fellow Hearthstoners !
It is me again, with an Hunter deck Archetype that I tought a lot about really early on when they announced the Witchwood expansion.
First of all, think of upvoting this deck if it helped you or if you liked the idea, it will really help us out reaching more people and maybe improve it even more !
This deck is all about synergies and removal and using your one mana hero power as often as possible : i.e. Wild Pyromancer with Grievous Bite or Deathstalker Rexxar. Activating Wing Blast for one mana cost and using your traps wisely. Don't underestimate Wild Pyromancer, he won me a lot of games !
Kathrena Winterwisp is a must have, and will also win you a lot of games, opening the gates to Jurassic Park (Charged Devilsaur) :D.
Seeping Oozeling brings a lot of stickiness to your board, by allowing you to copy your Savannah Highmanes deathrattles, or even Kathrena Winterwisp's one !
Use your resources wisely (The Black Knight, Spellbreaker, Houndmaster Shaw) to keep the board control, and you'll most likely (67% sure haha) win !
My thoughts about the one mana hero power
This is what I think about the 1 mana Hero Power :
The Hunter's hero power was always considered as really powerful for 2 mana, but the fact that it now costs 1 mana is even better. Indeed, it puts your opponent on a timer and keeps a constant pressure on him, since you're able to play it on almost each turn, your cards having an even cost. Often enough, your opponent will have to choose between healing / gaining armor or dealing with your board, which is sticky enough to cause him an headache trying to do so.
If you play hunter, you know that your hero power is the key to victory most of the time, it being constant face damage. I consider it as a slow "poison" effect, but now costing 1 mana less :)I tried 'standard recruit hunter' and mine seems to work better, at least for me. I don't know why, because I cut a lot of things in order to be able to be 'even', but I also included some cards that are never played in 'standard' recruit hunter like Wing Blast, Wild Pyromancer, Grievous Bite or Seeping Oozeling which prove to be very efficient all together.
I think it is a question of 'feeling' and loving the more 'control' style of this deck; but don't get me wrong, 'standard' recruit hunter is also very good, but it may demand less thinking since you don't have to use your resources as wisely as in my decklist.
Replacement guide
- Kathrena Winterwisp : core of this deck, don't play it if you don't have her :(
- Houndmaster Shaw : this card has no direct replacement since its effects and stats are pretty unique. It is a must have in all hunter decks, but if you don't have him, I'd recommend you to play Witchwood Piper. This card will allow you to draw one Wild Pyromancer when most needed, or even one Spellbreaker if you already used both of them. You could also replace him with a Professor Putricide, but it will weaken your early game a bit.
- Deathstalker Rexxar : he allone won me a lot of game. I don't see any replacement and if you don't have him, the winrate of this deck will certainly go down. Try to play one Skulking Geist instead if you don't already have one in your deck, or one Mossy Horror in order to deal with the Dude Paladins and Token Druids, and even Warlocks ( Voidwalker spawnig out of Voidlord, Vulgar Homunculus, etc.)
- The Black Knight : As for Deathstalker Rexxar, try to play one Skulking Geist instead if you don't already have one in your deck, or one Mossy Horror in order to deal with the Dude Paladins and Token Druids, and even Warlocks ( Voidwalker spawnig out of Voidlord, Vulgar Homunculus, etc.). Argent Commander could also be a possibility.
- The Lich King : he can generate a lot of value, or be completely useless depending on your luck. It is a priority target for your oppopent, and will often give you one more turn in order to do what you have to. Replace him with Primordial Drake.

Global statistics are low for the moment, they just appeared and most of the player aren't used to this deck for the moment :)

Hello and thanks a lot for your feedback !
By calculating your stats, it seems like your are at approximately 65-66% winrate, good job ! What's more, you tend to loose more in normal game mode since there are more 'suprising' decks there, but nice results, thanks :)
4 games so far...
4 wins... 2x Tempo mage, 1x Odd paladin and Odd Rogue...
The fact that I faced my 4 least favorite decks to play against and won, I will continue to play this deck for 30+ games and see how my win % goes!
Love the deck so far!
EDIT: Didn't even realize this was standard as I main wild... This is getting me wins at rank 4 wild though! What would you change for wild?
This is really good vs midrange and aggro decks, but the problem is this can't really contest vs the slower archetypes. Taunt Druid and Control Warrior out-armor your hero power, mage just freezes everything and abuses jaina's lifesteal, and Priest removes everything. Other than those matchups, I think this is really fun and powerful. Nice work, +1.
Hi and thanks for your comment !
I had many problems with Hadronox Druid, but including Skulking Geist helps a bit. It is still a bad matchup, as for Big Mage. I don't have much issues with Priests.
Thanks a lot :D
Any recommendation on a replacement for [/card]The Black Knight?
Hi and thanks for our comment !
Houndmaster Shaw early game and not dealt with is a heavy threat since you can deal with everything your opponent plays.
His synergies with deathrattle swapning more minions is insane, and helps you trading with big threats.
I tried Professor Putricide and don't think he's as powerful as Houndmaster Shaw, but he's still a decent replacement indeed, making your secrets more efficient late game :)
@shadeblight it's very good deck and fun to play. I don't have Houndmaster Shaw [/card]so I replaced him with [card]Professor Putricide. I see he is very effective when considering there is many spell in your deck.
I think Shaw is very effective against to aggro decks to celan the board but there is a lot of tools to do that so (trap, pyromancer, bite) so I don't think Shaw is so important.
I realized that i can adapt my hunter deck to even after seeing yours. The outcome is quite similar. I based mine more on stiched trackers and i run both dino kings instead of the devilsaur.
not shure if the two lions are better.
Arfus's deathrattle is nice when copied by Seeping Oozeling, but IMO you don't want Kathrena Winterwisp to rectuit him, to weak on board and no immediate effect. Savannah Highmanes deathrattle give more styckiness to your board since your opponent will have to clear the Highmane and the Hyenas. You could also try Violet Wurm !
Arfus is a beast and i have two dire frenzy. If i draw him i usually shuffle him back. Even if i get kathrena early and pull out arfus nothing is realy lost. I can get rexxar and all the cards are quite playable. Just the ozzlings loose their power. Here the original deck which plays funny. If i don´t get overrunn before i can use the stiched trackers it can cause serious troubles.
Nice deck you have there :D I was talking about your even version of this deck, where Arfus seems to be useless ! :) But if you like to play him, do it, the important part of this game is to have fun !
original and i like to see a old card like The black Knight make a appearance +1 :D
Thanks a lot for your comment !
Thanks. This deck won me the even daily quest quite easily. I only had 1 charged devilsaur. Used an Emeris, but wasn't really helpful. Any suggestions? Thanks again.
I really recommend you to craft the missing Charged Devilsaur, it is a key to victory in this deck. You could try to replace it with Violet Wurm, its deathrattle could be powerful on your Seeping Oozelings and it getting recruited by Kathrena Winterwisp could also be really interesting. :)
He will be useless early game (except for his decent body), but he might help you with late game indeed, by giving more value to your secrets. If you try it, give me your feedback I'm really interested !
makes your deck slower, i tohught about addind him but secrets are more here for necessity of an early defense, so the point of putricide is not there, you can try him tho might be good
Is the 1 mana hero power really that worth? i saw similar decks without genn and they seemed more consistent as they had more defensive options for the early game and more options to draw the combo with that 2/2 mana dude which discovers a minion from your deck. Recruit hunter seems really strong at the moment. I like the even-theme of the deck but i would like to know how this decks compares to the "normal" recruit hunter. someone got experience with both decks?
This is what I think about the 1 mana Hero Power :
I tried both decks, and this deck seems to work better, at least for me. I don't know why, because I cut a lot of things in order to be able to be 'even', but I also included some cards that are never played in 'standard' recruit hunter like Wing Blast, Wild Pyromancer, Grievous Bite or Seeping Oozeling which prove to be very efficient all together.
I think it is a question of 'feeling' and loving the more 'control' style of this deck; but don't get me wrong, 'standard' recruit hunter is also very good, but it may demand less thinking since you don't have to use your resources as wisely as in my decklist.
i got experience with both, with a regular recrui hunter deck im 10-2 right
with this one, i only played three game and i am 3-0
i kinda like this deck better, not cause of the WR, but because it is so fun to play, the combos you can do with shaw are insane and the value of wild pyromancer is often really good, the deck is really consistent and you have less of a win condition than other recruit decks i think, because you dont even need to open the gates to win
