Hello Hearthpwn! There was a high demand for the deck guide of Malygos Druid that I achieved Legend Rank1 with immediately on the first date, so here it is! I had over 75 % winrate in 41 games to get it (and immediately jumped from normal rank1 to that Legend rank1 because of high mmr created by this winrate), but deck is quite hard to pilot, so prepare to struggle just a bit with it before you master it and start crushing.

One of the players I would like to shout out is Fenomeno, one of the best players in the world that I am sure you all know. He is the guy from where I saw that they cut Oaken Summons and Ironwood Golem, which gives you 4 extra slots to work with and helps you quite a bit with combo.

General

Ramp it up, then ramp it up some more and play the fairest card in the game, Ultimate Infestation. That should give you enough time and resources to set up your combo kill.

Turn 1 of the game? Start thinking of the fatigue and your win condition already. You need to plan way in advance with this deck, and to know if you will need all the combo pieces to kill your opponent, or if you can use them for defense and then kill your opponent the „normal“ way.

After you spend a few turns setting up your Twig of the World Tree, play Malygos, explode the Twig, play Faceless Manipulator and Prince Taldaram, and deal 16 damage to opponent with every Moonfire you have. If you connected with the Twig to the face, that’s 33 burst damage, which is impossible to survive without armor. And that’s not even the highest amount of burst you can generate, as you can see below

Speaking of which, armoring up against this deck is strong, and you want to be getting rid of his extra armor on the way to your OTK combo.

Malygos + Faceless Manipulator + Prince Taldaram + Bloodmage Thalnos + MoonfireMoonfire
= 34 damage

Malygos + Bloodmage Thalnos + Swipe + Swipe + MoonfireMoonfire
=
34 damage

Malygos + Faceless Manipulator + Swipe + MoonfireMoonfire
=
36 damage

Malygos + Prince Taldaram + Bloodmage Thalnos + Swipe + MoonfireMoonfire
=
39 damage

As you can see, you generate the highest amount of damage with Swipe involved, but that’s the card you often need to use earlier as a defense tool and you can deal over 30 without having any of them.

Guide

As with all the Druids, Wild Growth is amazing against anyone, and Nourish is also a ramp that you are looking for. Once you have the Nourish, then Arcane Tyrant is a great keep as well.

Against aggressive decks Swipe and Spreading Plague are your best cards, so keep those as well alongside of your ramp.

Lesser Jasper Spellstone is a card I like to keep against Rogue or any deck that could have Vicious Fledgling, but mulligan basically everywhere else.

Twig of the World Tree is a tough one, I like to keep it in Control matchups where it is your main win condition, but versus Aggro you prefer to look for ramp and removal.

Other than that you need to evaluate your hand as a whole. For example, if you have ramp already, then cards like Innervate and Branching Paths can be kept in some spots, but it is impossible to describe all these spots.

Selection

I included Innervate, Wild Growth, Wrath, NourishSpreading Plague and Ultimate Infestation in Control Druid deck. Wow. This is absolutely no surprise to anyone I am sure, and won’t really talk about these cards as by now I have written about them a dozen times and you all know what they do and why are they in the deck.

Arcane Tyrant has always seemed sweet in these Druid decks, as it combos great with Nourish and Ultimate Infestation, where you can have him ready or draw him from those cards, and it gives you back the tempo you lose from gathering card advantage.

The combo cards of the deck are Malygos + Twig of the World Tree + Faceless Manipulator + Prince Taldaram + 2 Moonfire and you could also say + 2 Swipe, although not fully. These cards are the reason your opponent will die out of nowhere, and it doesn’t matter how much removal or life gain does he have ready in his hand.

Prince Taldaram is great when your weapon gets destroyed as you can still go Malygos + double Innervate for Prince and double Moonfire your opponent for 22.

Changes

Twig of the World Tree is irreplaceable, I hope that’s obvious by now from what I wrote, as it is the core of the combo. For Malygos it is the same, you just need those cards.

Malfurion the Pestilent has ton of implications in this deck, from stopping aggressive decks to gaining ton of armor to get out of burn range. He is not part of the combo, but I think you would struggle if you don’t have him, and not sure what card could replace him.

The Lich King is always a nice value card that your opponent has to be able to deal with or it can kill him on its own, but you can remove him from the decklist if you don’t have him yet. Although he is being played in so many decks and is neutral, so you should have crafted him by now to be honest :)

Although I said I really like Arcane Tyrant, you can cut him and just add second Faceless Manipulator.

Prince Taldaram is my newest inclusion in the deck, and I think it made it visibly better. The card is not essential though, and if you don’t have him, just put Ferocious Howl back in the deck. Same goes for Bloodmage Thalnos. The card is good especially with Swipe where it deals a ton of extra damage, but the deck will be capable of operating without him.

Not sure what to put in instead of several cards you are missing? Just playOaken Summons and 2 Ironwood Golem, or you could put in just one Spellbreaker if that’s the only replacement you need.

That’s it for today guys, hopefully this answered your questions, thanks a lot for reading! If you want to see the deck in action and you are also curious of the game where I hit Legend Rank 1, then this video is perfect for you:

Cheers
