Hello Hearthpwn! There was a high demand for the deck guide of Malygos Druid that I achieved Legend Rank1 with immediately on the first date, so here it is! I had over 75 % winrate in 41 games to get it (and immediately jumped from normal rank1 to that Legend rank1 because of high mmr created by this winrate), but deck is quite hard to pilot, so prepare to struggle just a bit with it before you master it and start crushing.
One of the players I would like to shout out is Fenomeno, one of the best players in the world that I am sure you all know. He is the guy from where I saw that they cut Oaken Summons and Ironwood Golem, which gives you 4 extra slots to work with and helps you quite a bit with combo.
Ramp it up, then ramp it up some more and play the fairest card in the game, Ultimate Infestation. That should give you enough time and resources to set up your combo kill.
Turn 1 of the game? Start thinking of the fatigue and your win condition already. You need to plan way in advance with this deck, and to know if you will need all the combo pieces to kill your opponent, or if you can use them for defense and then kill your opponent the „normal“ way.
After you spend a few turns setting up your Twig of the World Tree, play Malygos, explode the Twig, play Faceless Manipulator and Prince Taldaram, and deal 16 damage to opponent with every Moonfire you have. If you connected with the Twig to the face, that’s 33 burst damage, which is impossible to survive without armor. And that’s not even the highest amount of burst you can generate, as you can see below
Speaking of which, armoring up against this deck is strong, and you want to be getting rid of his extra armor on the way to your OTK combo.
Malygos + Faceless Manipulator + Prince Taldaram + Bloodmage Thalnos + Moonfire + Moonfire
= 34 damage
Malygos + Bloodmage Thalnos + Swipe + Swipe + Moonfire + Moonfire
= 34 damage
Malygos + Faceless Manipulator + Swipe + Moonfire + Moonfire
= 36 damage
Malygos + Prince Taldaram + Bloodmage Thalnos + Swipe + Moonfire + Moonfire
= 39 damage
As you can see, you generate the highest amount of damage with Swipe involved, but that’s the card you often need to use earlier as a defense tool and you can deal over 30 without having any of them.
As with all the Druids, Wild Growth is amazing against anyone, and Nourish is also a ramp that you are looking for. Once you have the Nourish, then Arcane Tyrant is a great keep as well.
Against aggressive decks Swipe and Spreading Plague are your best cards, so keep those as well alongside of your ramp.
Lesser Jasper Spellstone is a card I like to keep against Rogue or any deck that could have Vicious Fledgling, but mulligan basically everywhere else.
Twig of the World Tree is a tough one, I like to keep it in Control matchups where it is your main win condition, but versus Aggro you prefer to look for ramp and removal.
Other than that you need to evaluate your hand as a whole. For example, if you have ramp already, then cards like Innervate and Branching Paths can be kept in some spots, but it is impossible to describe all these spots.
I included Innervate, Wild Growth, Wrath, Nourish, Spreading Plague and Ultimate Infestation in Control Druid deck. Wow. This is absolutely no surprise to anyone I am sure, and won’t really talk about these cards as by now I have written about them a dozen times and you all know what they do and why are they in the deck.
Arcane Tyrant has always seemed sweet in these Druid decks, as it combos great with Nourish and Ultimate Infestation, where you can have him ready or draw him from those cards, and it gives you back the tempo you lose from gathering card advantage.
The combo cards of the deck are Malygos + Twig of the World Tree + Faceless Manipulator + Prince Taldaram + 2 Moonfire and you could also say + 2 Swipe, although not fully. These cards are the reason your opponent will die out of nowhere, and it doesn’t matter how much removal or life gain does he have ready in his hand.
Prince Taldaram is great when your weapon gets destroyed as you can still go Malygos + double Innervate for Prince and double Moonfire your opponent for 22.
Twig of the World Tree is irreplaceable, I hope that’s obvious by now from what I wrote, as it is the core of the combo. For Malygos it is the same, you just need those cards.
Malfurion the Pestilent has ton of implications in this deck, from stopping aggressive decks to gaining ton of armor to get out of burn range. He is not part of the combo, but I think you would struggle if you don’t have him, and not sure what card could replace him.
The Lich King is always a nice value card that your opponent has to be able to deal with or it can kill him on its own, but you can remove him from the decklist if you don’t have him yet. Although he is being played in so many decks and is neutral, so you should have crafted him by now to be honest :)
Although I said I really like Arcane Tyrant, you can cut him and just add second Faceless Manipulator.
Prince Taldaram is my newest inclusion in the deck, and I think it made it visibly better. The card is not essential though, and if you don’t have him, just put Ferocious Howl back in the deck. Same goes for Bloodmage Thalnos. The card is good especially with Swipe where it deals a ton of extra damage, but the deck will be capable of operating without him.
Not sure what to put in instead of several cards you are missing? Just play 2 Oaken Summons and 2 Ironwood Golem, or you could put in just one Spellbreaker if that’s the only replacement you need.
That’s it for today guys, hopefully this answered your questions, thanks a lot for reading! If you want to see the deck in action and you are also curious of the game where I hit Legend Rank 1, then this video is perfect for you:

I wonder why this deck is running Prince Taldaram instead of Ixlid, Fungal Lord
You require the same number of cards, but with Ixlid, Fungal Lord you can Faceless Manipulator Ixlid, Fungal Lord to get 3 copies of him, then destroy your weapon and play Malygos to get 4 copies of him, and burn your opponent with +20 spell damage. With just 2 Moonfires you deal 42 damage. Chances you are going to save swipes for the killing blow are not very high.
The most amount of damage (I've gotten it once and you usually just win regardless) possible is twig at 1, play malygos, pop twig, faceless and taldaram the malygos, and then innervate innervate swipe moonfire moonfire for a total of 51 damage.
Spell hunter has been shredding me...guess I need to craft malfurion next...
I dont get it to work either. If you draw it early, you run into weapon removal when 1 durability is left -> useless.
I can't get this to work at all. There's no chance of getting the combo in this meta. That stupid Twig is useless - you never have time to use it - nevermind getting lucky drawing it early. Play Maly at turn 9 and splat it's gone, game over. I've tried and tried, hopless.
2 weeks deeper into this meta and still works great
This deck is very similar to this one: https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1106758-legend-malytog-druid-that-actually-still-works . And it was posted more than a month ago.
The guy broke the meta ^_^
"Vicious Fledling" is a typo that breaks the tool tip. Should be "Vicious Fledgling".
I fixed it for him.
After 20-30 game with this deck, I thought the deck was not good in lots of matches except control, Prince Taldaram is helpful on combo effect, but useless when against with aggro, armor is more important in the early period, Ferocious Howl is a good option to substitute.
The biggest combo is Malygos + 2x Innervate + Prince Taldaram - hit with the weapon - + Faceless Manipulator + Swipe + 2x Moonfire which is 52 dmg. This combo is really useful against warriors, quest priest, and sometimes against druids. :)
Why no Ixlid, Fungal Lord? maybe its some option to relpace Prince Taldaram ?
Because you have to play malygos first before hitting with weapon. If you use 5 mana ixlid then the left over 5 mana is useless. Another reason is that you need faceless in order to use ixlid, but you dont need anything else to play prince taldaram
what happens if you ixlid, faceless ixlid? do you fill your board with 7 ixlids? if you get 3, you could break twig, malygos for 4 malygos and double moonfire for 40+
Exactly, after you Ixlid, Faceless Ixlid, you have 3 Ixlids on board.
What I did to make this deck just a bit better, in my opinion, is take out 2 Innervate and Prince Taldaram and replaced them with 2 Ferocious Howl and a Rummaging Kobold.
Edit #2: Took out Bloodmage Thalnos, 1 Ultimate Infestation, The Lich King, and Starfall for 2 Oaken Summons and 2 Ironwood Golem to thin out my deck better to get the combo out faster.
Keep in mind, these changes will make the overall damage in one turn less than what is given above.
I'm not sure this is correct. Malygos gives +5, Bloodmage gives +1, (for a total +6). Multiply by 4 spells= 24 damage. Add 4 each for 2 swipes (8) and 1 each for two moonfires (2) gives 10, add the 24 spell damage gives 34.
Did I miss something?
Youre missing the weapon attack to destroy the twig which brings it to 35. Not sure where the last one comes from though
You are right, thanks Ganashal, will fix it :)
Maybe a Rummaging Kobold helps if you have too much weapon removals. As this deck isn't running the oaken summon into Golem combo it should be fine.
