Potion of Heroism looks fitting good. You can get more card draw and protect your lynessa from first strike.

Looks very interesting. I don't have all the legendaries so I'm running a little bit different deck focused more on OTK with Zola, Brewmaster and Pixie.
Question: why did you remove Tirion? And have you tried Primordial Drake?

Equality primordial is a good clear, but you need to do it earlier turns. So pyro equality 4*, consacration equality 6* are cheapest way to clear. Also you can get taunts such as tition and primordial from stonehill, thats why i removed him.

I replaced Elise the Trailblazer with Potion of Heroism for more immediate trading power and card draw... So far it's working real nice. I must say I doubted the deck but after crafting The Last Kaleidosaur I haven't regretted it for a moment.

 Definitely not, often you'll need the bells sooner, especially against faster decks.

What if I run this quest deck without the quest?

Quest is (not the win condition) just extra reach. There are many ways to play this deck. 
Zola the Gorgon can still be played with Lynessa Sunsorrow and Sound the Bells! still a great aoe played with Wild Pyromancer.

BTW.
I'd suggest to replace the quest with The Voraxx

The deck seems sub-optimal even for the sub-optimal archetype, with just 2 buffs... Has anyone had any success in ranked play?

I understimate the power of value for a long time... Now i realized the power of some of these cards, especially legendaries.

If you have the glass knight, I'd suggest to add him to the list. Because if you have initiative its a big tempo swing, also you can copy it with zola to push pressure on control priest. Valanyr is pure value, especially in combo with saronite. Oppo is forced to silence or scream them in your deck.

You can always replace tirion for stonehill, 1x spell breaker for another stonehill.

 Lich king is always a good trouble. Leaving him uncontested on the board is a danger for oppo. 

You got perfectly the reason why vicious scalehide is in the deck... But glass knight is also really strong in combo with it.

 i cut tyrion and lich king as well, i don't have glass knight so  in my version there is 2x Aldor Peacekeeper and one Primalfin Champion...i must say that boosted  Vicious Scalehide is pretty good healing in a late game...
