Hello everyone, I am Lavvek from Crown Gaming and I am back with a new guide!
This time we will review Even Paladin, the deck I played the most after witchwood expansion and hit top 10 legend with 74% win rate in 31 games.
Even paladin is one of the strongest decks at the moment with over 60% win rate on ladder.
That is nothing new, because we have 2 instanly strong cards, Call to Arms and Sunkeeper Tarim!
Usually we start the game by just hero powering, even if we have The Coin try to save it so you could coin out a 4 drop like Call to Arms. Perfect turn 2 would be Dire Wolf Alpha if the dude survived so we could trade or Amani Berserker. On turn 3 you can go Knife Juggler into hero power preparing the juggler for Call to Arms, or any other 2 drop with hero power, if you had The Coin and you saved it now is the perfect time to coin out a 4 drop into 4 drop next turn.
Why do I play these cards?
Amani Berserker - I was looking for the most aggresive drop 2 with 3 health.
Acidic Swamp Ooze- nice drop 2, good pull from Call to Arms, and of course weapon removal which is great versus Rogue, Warlock and Warrior.
Vicious Scalehide - very good with Call to Arms, not that bad from hand in tempo match ups aswell, but still replaceable if you don't like it.
Saronite Chain Gang - the reason why I prefer Saronite Chain Gang over Lightfused Stegodon is because it is a better tempo play and it dosen't require us to have anything on board. Much better in mirror or versus other aggro decks. Aswell, great minion with Val'anyr, you get x2 weapon back and x2 6/5 taunts for 2 mana, sounds good, right? :)
Argent Commander - can be used for some nice trades, and aswell perfect finisher if it gets hit by Val'anyr.
Val'anyr - additional damage/removal, and additional big minion to play when it buffs something.
The Lich King- great late game card, gives us value, hard to remove, if it survives a turn it can go crazy out of hand.
Other cards are pretty much core in this deck.
Overall you are looking for 2 drops and Call to Arms in your starting hand. Some other cards in certain match ups.
Warlock
Main win condition is Blessing of Kings on turn 4, besides Spellbreaker and Acidic Swamp Ooze. It is very hard for warlock to deal with a big minion early game, unless he managed to upgrade his spellstone. Use your resources smartly and try to play around Defile.
Spiteful druid
One of the easiest matchups, we are always looking for drop-2, Call to Arms and Sunkeeper Tarim. You are faster then he is and by the time he starts playing his Spiteful Summoner the game should be in your hands. Take care of his Mind Control Tech. If he gets big minions on the board, you have Equality or Sunkeeper Tarim to handle them.
Quest Rouge
Tempo is the most important here, so we are looking for drop 2 minions and Call to Arms. Since he needs time to get his quest done, you should do as much damage as possible then finish him with your charge/weapon combo after he plays Vanish.
Tempo Mage
We have to fight for the board early game. Call to Arms will swing it into our favour, but beware of Counterspell. Acidic Swamp Ooze and Truesilver Champion are keep aswell, since ooze gets rid of Aluneth and Truesilver Champion will contest every minion he plays.
Control priest
Acidic Swamp Ooze is the best drop2 we can play, it contests Northshire Cleric. Blessing of Kings is very good in this matchup becouse they run only 1 death.
Paladin
Knife Juggler, Call to Arms and Consecration are key cards for this matchup. You will fight for the board and these 3 cards make the biggest impact on the board.
Warrior
Well, versus Control warrior your chances are slim since he has tons of clears and armor gain. Try to do a similar thing you do versus Warlock.

Great Deck, just played about 18 games. went from rank 16 to 11, total score is 13-5 (72%). hardest match up is against priest and only seen one cube lock, won that game. what helped is playing against defile as you mentioned and having tarim for his voidlord if you have your board established. if not you pretty screwed! against priest i would suggest to hold on the call the arms because they wait for it and answer with their 3 deal damage dragon or whatever that card. try to keep in your hand blessing, spellbreaker and ooze to contrast the northshire. i would suggest not to keep juggler, keep it as a finishes once their life is low than call to arm to finish them with jiggles in their face, thats how i won my only game against priest.
Great Deck, Thanks!
Why The Lich King and not Tirion Fordring??
yeah auzg said it well. There is instant value from lich king and if it gets silenced its still 8/8.
So is it worth crafting lich then?
I'm testing this deck on my EU account, which curiously doesn't own The Lich King, so I replaced him with a Sea Giant. Works very well, especially against warlocks who have a rough time with a big minion in the early to mid game
Very impressed with this deck. It's great :) !
Thank you for posting this, made it to legend for the first time with this list, glad I got there before they nerf call to arms
They're eyeing Tarim, too.
I always had a soft spot for Val'anyr. Glad to see someone using it to such great effect!
My favorite early rounds move with this deck, when I can pull it off, is Amani Berserker on Round 2 and then The Coin + Blessing of Kings on the Berzerker in Round 3. It creates an insane Round 3 minion that your opponent really struggles to deal with.
I was struggling to find a deck that worked for me and dropped all the way to a sad level 18. Now I'm all the way back up to 12 in less than a day. And I've not even played that much. Just fitting a game in here and there when I can. I'm not even struggling with warlocks. Now I'm curious to see just how far I can take this deck.
I've never made Legend before, mostly because I simply have never had the time to do the grind. But this deck makes me want to go for it. I may give myself a little extra Hearthstone time this month and see if I can make the push.
these pally decks are really to strong but at least this one is a little different from others and for the proof and good info with deck i can +1 :D
The guide is correct about Control Warrior. I've been on a nice 18-2 winning streak with this deck, the 2 loses both coming to control warriors. With all their board clear and armor there's not a lot you can do.
Would Leeroy Jenkins work better instead of Argent?
lmao nevermind, I'm an idiot.
