Heroic Heigan the Unclean - Shaman's spell deck

Consistency: Reliable (expected number of tries 1-3)

Introduction:

Heigan's "meta" confuses me a lot. He is an aggressive boss whom you can't beat with regular creatures because of his Hero power. So you have to use cheap efficient spells and creatures with powerful deathrattles like eggs.

People mostly use a warlock because of his Sacrificial Pact, but apart from this he has almost no real advantages, so if you didn't draw the pact early, you are often in a big trouble. And, of course, there are cheap, but terrible and inconsistent Inner Fire priests. Never leave your home without one.

Shaman, who has the best (and most abundant) cheap spells in the game, however, is completely forgotten. You will find a hunter's deck (!!!!) on Hearthpwn, but no shamans. Not a single one! I guess it is the Overload mechanic, that scares people away. So let me prove, that people are wrong.

General strategy:

This deck mostly consists of defensive spells, so your main task here is to keep killing everything Heigan plays and to heal yourself with your powerful spells. Use Devolve to counter Voidcaller's deathrattles.

Eventually Heigan will run out of steam and you will be able to play your win condition, which is Kel'Thuzad plus Ancestral Spirit combo. Together with Ragnaros the Firelord he will destroy Heigan in no time.

That's the plan. As with all aggressive bosses, expect to be low on health at some point, so be careful about his sudden face damage burst, which quite often he is able to do around turns 7-8. Don't be greedy.

Deck composition:

Almost 2/3 of your deck are damage spells. I basically added almost anything I found, because it improves deck's consistency. You will always need answers. Devolve is important to counter Voidcaller's deathrattles.

There are no cheap minions, this deck only has Ragnaros the Firelord and Kel'Thuzad. This is to ensure, that at least first Healing Wave almost always gets stronger effect, which is very important. Shaman's healing spells are super-powerful and you certainly will need them.

This deck has no draw, since Heigan will help you with this.

Mulligan:

Devolve, Lightning Bolt, Crackle, Stormcrack, Lightning Storm - any spells, that can defend you against early aggro. If you have a couple of these spells, also keep healing.

I didn't come to conclusion, if Volcano is worth keeping. It is certainly a very strong turn 5 play... as long as you aren't overloaded (which rarely happens by the way), but if the rest of your hand was bad, you will probably just die to Soulfire or Doomguard afterwards. I am leaving it up to you to decide.

Tactic tips:

Devolve is a great turn 2 play. But if you didn't draw it, it is usually ok to kill initial Voidcaller with Stormcrack or Crackle. Heigan discards high cost minions, so Voidcaller will likely pull something like Blood Imp. And even if you were unlucky, you didn't lose much time. So just start another game.

Watch your health and don't be too greedy. I saw Heigan doing 13 face damage with Soulfire - Soulfire - Doomguard. Yep, those were lucky discards.

Unless you have no choice, keep Lava Shock to unlock your mana crystals after Elemental Destruction.

Your totems can protect your other creatures from Heigan's Hero power. Always think about right order and positioning.

Consistency notes:

It is hard to win consistently against aggressive bosses, but this deck works surprisingly well, thanks to very large amount of cheap spells and powerful healing. This deck requires a bit of resource management, but if you aren't new to HS it shouldn't take too many tries to win with this deck.

I believe in average it has about 50% win rate, but of course no one is protected from one of those annoying streaks of bad luck.

Blacktiger's Naxxaramas deck collection:

Provided win rates are approximate. They are based on my tests and so partially depend on how lucky/unlucky I was during my testing. Also keep in mind, that you need a bit of experience with a deck to use it to its full potential. So first attempts usually have lower win rates, than suggested in this list.
