Heroic Maexxna - Priest's C'Thun deck
Consistency: Super (win rate is close to 100%)
Introduction:
When Naxxaramas was released Maexxna was a mildly challenging boss. Certainly not the hardest one, but considering limited resources people had back then, she required few tries to figure out how to kill her. These days Maexxna probably became the easiest boss out there. Her hero power gives unlimited value to a player and there are just so many different tactics to utilize this. You can use C'Thun, or Leeroy Jenkins, or the rogue quest (The Caverns Below), or do a quick kill with charge minions. Some spell-heavy classes can simply control the board with spells.
The deck I am presenting here is a refined combination of C'Thun/Leeroy Jenkins approach and unlimited healing, which basically never loses.
General strategy:
The primary game plan for this deck is to fill the Maexxna's side of the board with low-attack minions and heal yourself as needed with Cult Apothecary and/or Power Word: Glory. Remaining mana is used to buff C'Thun who eventually will be able to decimate Maexxna with his battlecry or just to do face damage with charge minions like Leeroy Jenkins.
This C'Thun plus Leeroy Jenkins plus Cult Apothecary trick can be used by any class since all its core cards are neutral. However, this priest's version is probably the most reliable, because its insane amount of healing makes it extremely resilient even in case of terrible luck and bad draw.
Deck composition:
C'Thun, its followers and Cult Apothecary are the core cards of the plan. Antique Healbot can be used instead of Cult Apothecary, but it is worse in most situations.
Leeroy Jenkins is the secondary win condition. He can win you a game on his own.
Binding Heal, Flash Heal, Power Word: Glory will keep you alive, while you are trying to setup the enemy board.
Holy Smite, Shadow Word: Pain, Argent Horserider and Disciple of C'Thun will help you to kill 2-health minions.
Mulligan:
Always keep Cult Apothecary. Don't keep C'Thun or Leeroy Jenkins. Also keep cheap healing spells and everything, that can kill 2-health minions, including Shadow Word: Pain and Disciple of C'Thun. Disciple of C'Thun is the best C'Thun follower by far because of his versatility. Don't keep any other C'Thun cards.
Tactic tips:
Don't use Holy Smite and Shadow Word: Pain on spiders from the start. You may need them to kill wolves or slimes a bit later.
Leeroy Jenkins can be used as a 1/1 token generator to prevent larger creatures from coming. In fact, if you draw him and there is no taunt, you probably can forget about C'Thun and just go face with this guy.
Never play more than two minions on the same turn.
You may consider killing your own creatures if your hand is full.
Consistency notes:
If played right, this deck always wins. Well, almost. I actually lost once, when I had ridiculously bad draw. With Shadow Visions this deck has 10 cards that can provide immediate healing and there wasn't any healing in 11 cards I draw in this game. Chances for this to happen are about 1 per 333 games. Even lower, if you will take mulligan into account. So I bet, it won't happen to you.

Provided win rates are approximate. They are based on my tests and so partially depend on how lucky/unlucky I was during my testing. Also keep in mind, that you need a bit of experience with a deck to use it to its full potential. So first attempts usually have lower win rates, than suggested in this list.
Brilliant! I had tried a Crystal Core Rogue deck, which took some attempts, but eventually allowed me to devastate Maexxna. However, it was pretty slow and relatively inconsistent, as rogue has very few healing options and even those 1/1 and 1/2 Spectral Spiders can burn you down. This deck, however, is consistent. Yes, I won Maexxna with this deck in my 1st attempt. However, the gameplay felt like I was completely in control all the time, turn by turn, regardless of bad hand draws. Fantastic job!
Anyway, would you replace Power Word: Shield for something else, considering it was (highly) nerfed? It seems pretty useless in this deck considering it no longer draws a card.
Thank you! You can check my other decks for Naxx and Blackrock Mountain. I think many of them are quite good. There are few (mostly for Blackrock mountain) that are less consistent and you probably will be able to find something a bit better these days, but some Blackrock mountain bosses are just poorly designed and immune to any attempts to make a consistent deck due to nature of their abilities (like insane mana lead).
And yes, you are right, Power Word: Shield is useless in this deck now. It can be replaced by any cheap heal, draw or 2 damage spell.
Yes, I've seen your decks and I really like them! I'm especially fond on your emphasis, nay, obsession with consistency. :-D
1st Try! thanks. now I have that oh so sweet card back!
Deck worked well, granted C'Thun was my last card and it ended up being at 80/80 when I played it.
- Thanks for the deck! -
- Worked like a charm, had C'Thun at 52/52 when I played him = ownage -
