First Iteration:

Does it beat Odd Paladin? Nope.

Does it beat Hadronox Druid? Only if he doesn't play Hadronox.

Is it fun to play? Hell yeah!

Second Iteration:

After a few iterations that made the deck worse, I think I managed to improve on the first version. How does out-controlling Control Priest sound?

Matchups vs:

Strategy:

  • Mulligan Explosive Trap and Unleash the Hounds against aggressive decks (i.e. Odd Paladin).
  • If you mulligan Deathstalker Rexxar, keep him, you want to transform ASAP.
  • Your bread and butter is Vicious Scalehide + Dire Frenzy, it's your removal and heal.
  • Stitched Tracker and Tracking are your search engines for finding answers. The cards you choose will depend on opponent class and board, Stitched Tracker is also great for duplicating cards you only have 1 of (Spellbreaker, Rotten Applebaum, Emeriss, Houndmaster).
  • Countess Ashmore has amazing synergy with buffed Vicious Scalehides you put back into your deck via Dire Frenzy, when you play her, she will pull 2 of them out and Rotten Applebaum, great setup for Emeriss play.
  • Emeriss is your win more card, don't ever play him unless you're ahead, you're basically skipping a turn to play him.
  • Your win condition is your Zombeasts, not Emeriss. Adapt them to counter whatever the opponent is doing. If he puts a large minion out, try to build something with poison + rush, or at least taunt. If you're low on health, build something with lifesteal. If opponent plays obsidian statue, build something cheap with echo. If you're low on cards, build something that puts a minion back into your deck. Your goal is to control the board, not to go face. It's not uncommon for this deck to push opponent into fatigue (see Priest replay above).

NOTE: I experimented with removing Stonetusk Boars and adding King Krush, but the deck started doing worse. As awesome as 16/16 charge seems, you can't afford any more tempo loss in this deck.
