Now that we are a week into the new expansion, the meta seems to be more defined than before and most powerful decks are standing out so far. Ranging from even/odd Paladins to Shudder Shaman, the meta seems to be really diverse and open to discovery. If you're facing too many control decks and are looking for a successful deck with a high skill cap, this deck is for you.
Recently, Rage hit #1 legend using his quest rogue list. What's unique about this list is that it runs 2 copies of vicious scalehide in favour of the more traditional fire flies. Since the nerf hammer struck down Patches, most Quest Rogue lists stopped running Valeera the Hollow due to the fact that it was too slow against most of the aggressive archetypes, and control match-ups were a win way more often than not.
However, with the potential for more control decks in the newly formed meta, as well as the fact that most aggressive decks have slowed down because of the rotations, Valeera seems to be a very solid choice against control and, more often than not, aggressive decks. Through the use of cards like Glacial Shard & Wax Elemental, you can easily extend the game long enough so that you would get an opportunity to play your Valeera, which would ensure that you would never run out of juice for the remainder of the game.
Your primary goal is to complete the quest as fast as possible, while maintaining a reasonable health total that guarantees your survival. The best possible 'bounce' target to complete the quest with is Novice Engineer, since it gets you even closer to completing the quest with every draw. This deck is quite difficult to pilot, so don't be put down if you find it difficult to play, even many professionals think so.

As usual, video that spotlights the high-end potential of the deck. If you are confused on how to pilot the deck, make sure to check the video out, as he explains every single move he makes.

Yes because I should only play hyper aggro or control right? Can't complain about anything because we can always just play even paladin....
Seriously, I play 5 midrange/control decks interchangeably. Most games have been fun, except this matchup. It doesn't need a nerf, because technically its counterable, but I just wish it hadn't been put in the game in the first place. And if I was a Quest Rogue player I'd hate to see it killed like Warsong Commander or Raza.
You can always play tempo mage (lol). I get your point, but as I like to try out almost every deck, and I get bored of it after a maxinum of 2 weeks, I don't see to much the problem... I just wish they will release someday half the card of an expansion, but every 2 months... Anyway, almost all the cards the deck played were there also before the rotation. and it was low tier 4. I don't thing would be so hard to push it out of the meta, at least next expansion...
How can I replace zola?
when your one of the people that didnt disenchant caverns below feelsgoodman
when you are one of the people who disenchanted The Caverns Below AND then got it back from the Year of the Mammoth Bundle
It was a full refund when it was nerfed so it doesn't actually make any difference
do i craft zola (for other decks too) oder sonya?
im not able to craft both of them yet (is it worth it?)
Is it possible to play this deck without Sonya and Zola ? And I don't like sap either...
Sonya has the highest winrate when kept in hand out of any card in the deck. Both those legendaries are fantastic bouncers/ value generators for getting the quest done and having more 5/5s burst. Also you're gonna miss sap when Spiteful rolls over you or a big fat voidlord is stopping lethal.
Quest rogue should die just another reason to play aggro and then ppl complain that there's do much aggro decks. Control decks lose to this poorly designed cards. Aggro is the way to go because of it
Yeah, cause control should beat everything, right? It's just the perfect balance in my opinion. Too many control? Play quest rogue. Too many quest rogue? Play aggro. To many aggro? Play control. Aggro is a part of the game, and we've never had so many tools to contain it, so I don't see many reasons to complain about it. The dumb thing is having an arquetipe winning all matchups, like you seems to wish for control...
I AGREE! HATE HATE HAAAAAAATE QUEST ROGUE!
DIE DIE DIE DIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEE
LUL
Well, you could argue that Quest Rogue is then just the greediest control deck that beats the other control decks. Which otherwise would probably be Control Lock. Since I'm a Control Lock player, I don't like it, but I'm okay with it from balance perspective.
The thing that's problematic in my opinion is that you cant tech against Quest Rogue. You play control vs it, you lose 100% of the time. There is no Owl, no Geist, no nothing that can improve the matchup except them playing bad or switching to super aggro decks
You don't, because you sacrifice all of your aggression tools to make space for defensive ones, and quest rogue capitalize on that. But it often lose from any good early game, or any cubelock that start the aggression early, sacrifing their plans in the long run to pull out the doomguards as early as possible...
This means that you can tech a control deck to beat quest rogue, but then it would probably loose to other things. It's how it works, rock always beat scissors, that's why paper has got invented, to beat rock! Hearthstone is just the only rock paper scissor game where sometimes scissor beats rock, but this have not to be the rule. Skill is important, but also luck in this game is, and a good ability to analyze the match-ups and adapting to the meta is part of the skill, and it also helps your luck.
Not mentioning, that any deck is super strong when they find their good draws early, so is Warlock whit is mana cheating package, so it's paladin whit call to arms, so was res. priest whit Barnes on 4. If you get your good draws and your opponent doesn't, you win, is just how card games works...
arquetipe? I don't mean to be rude, but did you mean archetype? Or was that intentional?
So from now on... rogues do it from below!
