Introduction

This Deck is based on stealing your opponents cards. You basically become your opponents class!

What's extremely fun about that is, you will never know what class you are going to be next, it's pure RNG, so the Deck seems to be perfect for the God of RNG Yogg-Saron, Hope's End... *Yayy* Yogg is back!!

Of course, the deck concentrates on the power swing with Tess Greymane, but while testing the Deck I had a really hard time in mirror match-ups. So I considered Yogg-Saron, Hope's End as an additional swing relying on the stolen spells.

Non-Legendary

So let's start one by one...

First of all, Backstab. Other possibilities for the same mana cost would be Preparation, Shadowstep or Counterfeit Coin. Many consider Preparation in such a value based deck, but I actually experienced Backstab to help me out more, especially with a rather slow early game deck. Being able to clear up a 2 or 3 drop, while playing Face Collector or Shaku, the Collector in the same turn is such a tempo swing and forces your opponent most likely to burn a removal instead of trading.

Deadly Poison for obvious reasons. Empowers your Mirage Blade to be basically a 3 mana - "Deal 5 damage" spell. It also works well with Spectral Cutlass and combined with Shadow Reflection you might get a 10 damage + lifesteal weapon that is able to last a lot of turn due to the durability gain. There is a reaso, why perma lifesteal on Kingsbane got removed!

Clever Disguise is way better than Burgle and site note: It gives you 2 spells from another class. That means, you're able to get off your combos and your quest, even when playing against rouge. This used to be a huge problem before.

Underbelly Fence may seem a little weird here but i played a good amount of games only using Undercity Huckster  and recently I gave this girl a try and I love it. Rush is something this deck really needs and even without attacking an enemy minion, a 2 mana 3/4 is insanely strong. When Shifter Zerus starts in your hand and turns into another class minion, you are even able to play it with buffed stats on turn 2.

Fan of Knives for some AoE damage and also provides some sweet card draw. Due to Azure Drake, this can deal 2 damage to all enemy minions + carddraw.

Spectral Cutlass, so this can be your friend while trading and may never leave you throughout the entire game. It's literally OP in this deck, if you use your cards right Spectral Cutlass will never lose any durability and will act like your own little priest Heropower (for your own obviously, not for the minions). That's why there's only one weapon in this deck, because of the infinite value. It's also a way to keep having a weapon, even after changing it as Valeera the Hollow. Buff it up with Deadly Poison.

Spellbreaker silences either your own minions with bad effects or an enemy minion, that you rather want to do nothing when it dies. In case of a Sylvanas Windrunner, for example. On top, it beats Cubelocks pretty hard, by silencing their Voidlord, Possessed Lackey and Carnivorous Cube. Silence comes in handly from time to time.

Vendetta is the alternative to Eviscerate and because this deck is not about going face at the first point, Vendetta actually offers some great value plays. Such as Clever Disguise + Underbelly Fence + Vendetta in turn 4. Card draw + minion body + 4 damage (board clear).

Azure Drake for some extra card draw and the spell damage. Just a decently good card and on top I already got some dragon synergy off of some stolen priest cards, too.

Chief Inspector already helped me out so often when playing against secrets like Ice Block, Freezing Trap, Repentance or Sudden Betrayal. Also has decent stats when only played for tempo.

Unidentified Contract is more reliable remove than Walk the Plank. Additionally it splits into Assassin's Contract, Turncoat Contract, Luctrative Contract and Recruitment Contract. Especially the last two ones have good synergy with this deck. Assassin's Contract and Turncoat Contract are more situational options, but already helped me out of some tricky situations, too.

Sap Vanish

Sap

At face value, Sap trades 1 card advantage for additional tempo by forcing your opponent to spend mana to play their minion again, while doing nothing to prevent them from immediately doing so. However, creative use of Sap can generate significant card advantage and effectively counter many strategies. Also, because of its low mana cost, Sap can be very useful for Combos.

Mage

When playing against mage, Sap is one of the weaker cards in your toolkit. Mages seldom buff their minions to a significant degree and the minions that do typically receive buffs (Mana Wyrm and Amani Berserker) are both very inexpensive to play. Sap can be an effective counter for a mage deck built around secrets, particularly through its ability to dispel buffs on an Ethereal Arcanist, but be cautious of Counterspell or Spellbender.

Warlock

When playing against a warlock, Sap can be a very effective counter for cards that are penalizing to play. If your opponent has a significant number of cards in their hand, using Sap on a Succubus or Doomguard will force your opponent to discard even more cards to keep their minion in play, providing you a means to build card advantage in addition to its tempo effects.

Sap can also be used to inflict extra damage on your opponent when used against Flame Imp or Pit Lord, forcing your opponent to spend the Health to play them a second time. If your opponent is at low Health, this may even effectively remove the minions from the game as your opponent will not play them if doing so would be fatal or would give you lethal.

Finally, Sap can be a very effective counter against an early-game Void Terror, by erasing the buffs provided by the minions sacrificed to buff it. While the warlock will be able to replay the Void Terror itself, the destroyed minions will have been sacrificed in vain.

Vanish

It's a more expensive card with a similar strategy as Sap but the option of letting your opponent build up a board while you have stealth from Valeera the Hollow and then play Vanish on your next turn to send the minion army they built up back to their hand.

Offensive

6 mana cost means this is a "top-deck" card, and should be used to clear taunts off the board and land a kill on the enemy with direct damage cards.

Defense

Clear out an overwhelming army to prevent trading, death, and waste enemy mana.

If the opponent has more minions on the board than they can fit back into their hand, the left over minions will be destroyed, potentially making Vanish a devastating removal option. Note that the Deathrattles of any destroyed minions will be activated. The minions should be returned in the order in which they were put into play.

Legendary

Bazaar Burglary is made for this kind of decks. It does have some weird interactions when already in Valeera the Hollow but before that, it's just a buff for your hero power and having a permanent 2 mana Shadowblade is so useful for trading and not losing by eating so much damage yourselve.

Shifter Zerus, a long not seen card. But it is kind of a win condition. There are so many cards in this deck that make this card valuable, such as the already mentioned Vendetta. Having the possibility to play a buffed Underbelly Fence on turn 2 is worth it. Just a fun card, that fits the RNG aspect of this deck.

Face Collector is pretty common in Thief Rouge. Can be played in th early game for the tempo and in the late game for the value and as the Wondrous Wisdomball would say: "Random legendaries are always good!"

Shaku, the Collector, I'm personally in love with this. If you get him to work, he's like an upgraded Burgle, especially if you manage to buff him. It's also a bit more tempo than Burgle, since you put a minion on the board, that is able to trade. Also, your opponent is forced to remove it as fast as possible, to deny you any more value. The longer Shaku, the Collector lives, the stronger he gets.

Harrison Jones, this deck needs some weapon removal for cards like Wrenchcalibur, Doomhammer, Supercollider, Ashbringer and especially for Skull of the Man'ari. Offers some card draw too and has a decent body. Replacement would be Corrosive Sludge, for a stronger body but less utility.

Trade Prince Gallywix has nice defensive stats and this deck needs as much defensive tools as possible. Plus, Trade Prince Gallywix may give you some good spells, your opponent uses for removing it. Basically has "passive" Taunt.

Nefarian, steals 2 Class-Spells. Buffing the synergy with Yogg-Saron, Hope's End and with Tess Greymane! Great card, also does have some nice voicelines when played!

In the following, the 3 core Legendaries are explained in more detail...

Yogg-Saron, Hope's End

If Yogg-Saron, Hope's End changes ownership during its Battlecry, such as by one of its spells destroying an enemy Sylvanas Windrunner, the rest of its spells will function as if the Yogg-Saron, Hope's End was played by the other player.

Yogg-Saron, Hope's End's Battlecry will immediately stop casting spells if Yogg-Saron, Hope's End is destroyed, Silenced, returned to hand or transformed partway through the Battlecry. If either hero is destroyed following a spell, Yogg-Saron, Hope's End will also immediately end its Battlecry.

The maximum amount of spells that will be played throughout his Battlecry is 30.

Tess Greymane

If you transform into a stolen Deathknight Hero from your opponent, Tess Greymane will actually cast every Rouge Card you've played this game. As the card now thinks you are another class and so the Rouge Cards are counted as from another class, too.

If Tess Greymane switches sides (to your opponent) while she plays out her Battlecry, all cards replayed after the side switch are acting as if it would be your opponents Tess Greymane, not yours anymore. So take care about what you will replay with her. Treachery can wreck you pretty hard!

However, Tess Greymane will stop her Battlecry if she is silenced, killed, transformed, leaves the battlefield, or if any hero dies.

She will replay the Hero cards but Tess Greymane will not activate the Battlecries of any replayed card.

The maximum amount of cards replayed is also 30.

Valeera the Hollow

Shadow Reflection is not affected by cost-reducing effects such as that of Emperor Thaurissan. If the player uses Preparation to reduce the cost of a spell, Shadow Reflection's copy of that spell will still have the spell's original cost. However, Shadow Reflection can be affected by permanent cost reduction effects such as those of Frost Giant or Arcane Giant.

If you play a dragon minion that has a Battlecry that requires a dragon in your hand such as Drakonid Operative, Shadow Reflection will copy that minion before the Battlecry checks for a dragon minion in your hand and causes it to activate even if you have no other dragon minions.

Source: https://hearthstone.gamepedia.com/Valeera_the_Hollow

I chose Valeera the Hollow, because the value increase is insane.

You can play Valeera the Hollow almost as soon as possible, because you won't need your Heropower anymore, if you know how to use Spectral Cutlass in the right way. Just care to complete Bazaar Burglary first, if you rely on the Shadow Reflection.

You can also wait for you opponent to swamp the board and then Vanish everything to oblivion. Some sick value plays are able with this deck, by using Valeera the Hollow (with Shadow Reflection) correctly.

Valeera the Hollow

"Run away. Hide in your precious keeps, behind your walls and your bodyguards. Night always falls, and shadows will fill your hallowed halls. One day, one of those shadows will be me."

Replacements / Similar cards

Shifter Zerus → May be replaced by one Pilfer. Cheap option and provides an instant card from another class. Played with this a lot myself, before i crafted Shifter Zerus.

Face Collector and Shaku, the Collector → Can both be replaced by putting Blink Fox in there. Better stats but less value. Overall a good card and definitely playable, if you can't afford two additional legendaries.

Harrison Jones → Already mentioned Corrosive Sludge and 5/5 is obviously better than 5/4 when played without the value. Great replacement if you don't have Harrison Jones, yet.

Trade Prince Gallywix  ->  Burgly Bully (decent stats and provides some Yogg-Saron Hope's End buff, but take care not to get milled throughout too many coins)

Alternative Dodge-Deck

Craft Order

  1. Bazaar Burglary
  2. Tess Greymane
  3. Yogg-Saron, Hope's End
  4. Valeera the Hollow
  5. Nefarian
  6. Trade Prince Gallywix
  7. Shaku, the Collector
  8. Face Collector
  9. Harrison Jones
  10. Shifter Zerus

That's obviously only my opinion about the best way of getting through, when not having all of the cards yet.

Mulligans

Against Warlock, you want to keep Harrison Jones to remove Skull of the Man'ari as soon as possible. Because you don't want to rely on your topdeck luck. Also Spellbreaker is never a bad idea, so that you can silence a Possessed Lackey, that will most likely recruit a Voidlord or a Doomguard. In case of that you're pretty much screwed, but hey... Your deck has the highest viable amount of RNG so maybe you get a sweet something out of your cards then. You never know.

Keep Shaku, the Collector, it's part of the early game of this deck and it forces your opponent to remove it.

Backstab is pretty good against Aggro-Decks and when it comes to Control matchups, you got the value advantage most of the time.

So that said, a start with either Underbelly Fence, Clever Disguise or even Face Collector is pretty nice. Also Shifter Zerus can help your Underbelly Fence or Vendetta to go off on turn 2, but requires some luck.

Eviscerate is a possible start against Mage, to clear a Mana Wyrm, for example.

vs. Rouge

So this pretty much... sucks... because your whole Tess Greymane Combo is so weak. The only cards that provide some real value are Clever Disguise, Shifter Zerus and Face Collector due to the fact, that they might give you odd-class cards (except Clever Disguise, gives 2 guaranteed class cards). So be sure, you've played some of those before triggering Tess Greymane. Otherwise, she will be a lonely 8 mana 6/6 and that's quite stupid...

Spectral Cutlass is pretty useless too, due to the missing gain of durability. Your only chance to improve this card a little bit is by stealing a weapon buff, such as Envenom Weapon, Southsea Squidface or Tinker's Sharpsword Oil. But even then you still only have 2 durability, unless you manage to get some value out of Clever Disguise or the other two card mentioned above. Also, do the best out of the life steal, it's your only guaranteed restoration tool in this deck.

Besides all these downsides, of course there is still a way to defeat the burglar in front of you and the solution to all of your problems is called Yogg-Saron, Hope's End. Throughout the whole game you will get even better spells, adapted to the Rouge playstyle. So you will most likely be able to feed Yogg-Saron, Hope's End a lot and in the most effective way. So in case of a matchup like this, just take Yogg-Saron, Hope's End as your win condition. You will see, the God of RNG will do his thing... or throw your whole game... But that always was the fun part about these cards!

 Gameplay

And finally to get you in the mood of pure RNG and seeing you opponent cry... sometime you too... Here's a quick video about some sick Yogg-Saron, Hope's End plays from the past! Maybe I'll record this Deck in action myself sometime...

But for now we are left with that, so enjoy!

And here you have some Shifter Zerus moments, too! Just because his RNG factor is equal to Yogg-Saron, Hope's End.
