Gone are the days when secret paladin functioned as a more consistent midrange paladin; Today's secret paladin now utilizes paladin's insane tempo cards like Call to Arms and Muster for Battle and functions as an unstoppable freight train of tempo power!!
Secret Paladin's weakness is that it forces you to run a bunch of poor tempo secrets and in previous iterations, the deck would lose in situations where it would draw secrets too frequently and never find Mysterious Challenger. The deck was made even more consistent with the release of Call to Arms which thins your deck by 3 cards and helps you get closer to Mysterious Challenger. Since the release of The Witchwood, Secret Paladin gained access to the new legendary card: Prince Liam.
Prince Liam is in many ways, exactly what Secret Paladin needed. Too many games were lost in the past where the paladin would only draw secrets turn after turn and lose its advantage dramatically. Now in these situations you have the option to drop Prince Liam and transform your secrets into random legendaries. You would want to do this if you are nearing the later turns of the game (7-9) and you still haven't found Mysterious Challenger. Prince Liam is also a great followup play to Mysterious Challenger because he replaces the 2-3 remaining secrets in your deck and can potentially create more threats for you to close the game with.
I am currently 11-0 with this list, it seems to do very well against most other top tier decks in the current state of the game. let me know what you think and how it plays for you!
Played the deck a lot in the past, any hope for future updates? 😃
I may re-visit it when the new expansion is released! Haven't played it in a long time tbh
-1 Repentance
-2 Spikeridged Steed
-2 Truesilver Champion
+2 Rallying Blade
+2 Divine Favor
+1 Loatheb or Spellbreaker
This is my personal edit. I've been playing secret paladin whenever i had the chance in the meta, since before standard. The strength of secret paladin has, in my eyes, always been low-curve consistency and Mysterious Challenger to tutor out the worst of your low-cost cards and give you better mid- to late-game topdecks. With Prince Liam you have the option to replace your 1-costs with actual bombs for lategame, as long as you draw Prince Liam. That is why i would always play Divine Favor and a low curve, because a lot of times you draw your important cards(Mysterious Challenger,Prince Liam,Sunkeeper Tarim) more consistently that way.
I really like your deck, i hope you continue to do well with it :D
P.S.
Another card to consider is Secretkeeper, since it can be extremely strong in the early game, but is usualy a disapointing top-deck. (mostly for Jank)
Steed? Really? Why?
I run without Liam and the steeds but I do run Loatheb and 3 silences (one owl) I have also been trying out the new epic secret for draw in place of repentence. Repentence often fizzes on a 1 health minion and when you draw it it is so bad. the potential for 2 card draw is nice when you need to find a finisher (tarim) or just some gas. Liam is interesting but seems so inconsistent - maybe if I also ran secretkeepers I would include, but i feel like you could clunk up your MC turn by having to play liam first and I don't see him as better than loatheb. Also I would have to craft him and there are a few other legendaries higher on my list.
15-1 welcome back Secret Pally
Needs loatheb as well
Insane 27-4 record with the deck atm, but swapped out Liam for Dr 7.
Liam is fun, but not consistent enough, and game is usually over by the time 7 is played anyways
look funny :) +1
