I hit Legend (EU) with this deck and did not see a single person running Zoo on the climb.
Possible Changes
-1 Vicious Fledgling, +1 Ratcatcher. Make this change if you're seeing a huge amount of Cubelock as Fledgling is generally quite weak in that matchup.
Alternatives
If you're missing 1 or 2 cards try these (they have not really been tested they are just reasonable zoo cards. There is also no replacement for Prince Keleseth):
Duskbat, Hooked Reaver, Dark Iron Dwarf, Soulfire
Guide
Your basic strategy with the deck is the midrange mentality. Rush down control decks and control aggro/midrange decks. Having a turn 1 play is essential and winning the game normally depends on it, so mulligan for 1 drops and Prince Keleseth. Use Glinda Crowskin to gain card advantage and tempo swings (explained more below) and use Bloodreaver Gul'dan to win those matches that drag into the late game.
Glinda Crowskin
I've had quite a few people asking how to use Glinda Crowskin so here is my experiences with the card.
You're never saving Glinda Crowskin for a specific purpose/combo. It's more a judgment call based on the game you're playing and the cards in your hand. If I have Glinda Crowskin in hand and I already have more effective plays for turns 6, 7 etc then I'd normally wait a few turns, play Glinda Crowskin and then swarm with copies of a 1 drop.
Or if I'm confident it will survive/ I have no other choice, just play it on 6 - if your opponent can't kill it then the real value starts to kick in. You want to try to use the echo's Glinda Crowskin creates as much as possible as this will start building card advantage in your favour. Being able to play extra copies of your taunts against aggro is especially useful. The echoes can also lead to some powerful plays. Here are some examples:
Sea Giant: if it costs 3, the echo will cost 2, and then the next 1 etc, I managed to get 3 giants out on a fair few occasions.
Prince Keleseth: It makes drawing Prince Keleseth on turn 7 absolute insane as you can summon 3 copies and every minion in your deck will get +3/+3. (Worth noting that after playing Prince Keleseth the echos created by Glinda Crowskin are not buffed).
Doomguard: On 10 mana you can be guaranteed 2 Doomguard's as the first one will discard cards before the echo appears in your hand.
So there's not really a specific way of playing Glinda Crowskin you're just looking to get the most value possible out of your cards while keeping board control. The last thing I'll say is don't be greedy. There's can often be a play, while Glinda Crowskin is out, that doesn't involve it at all but that's actually better for you. Don't feel obligated to use the copies every turn if there's a more efficient play.
Feel free to ask any questions.
Stats from climb (+ a few matches at legend)
Is there a card I could replace Keleseth with until I have one?
Went from rank 21 to rank 5 in 1 day. Really great deck.
Only thing is, my doomguards ALWAYS seem to discard my gul'dan.
Hey, everyone! I've been a fan of ZooLock FOREVER, so I was happy to see that there are still a number of ZooLock decks that are prevalent in the current meta. I decided to go with this one, but I was missing a number of core cards. I went ahead and did some makeshift replacements with other classic Zoo cards, and a couple personal preference picks.
I then did a video on my variation of the deck. Although this video was recorded at rank 23 (yes, I know, how disgraceful XD), I feel like it showcases and exemplifies the potential power of the Zoo Lock archetype. If you have a couple minutes, check it out and let me know what you think! Thanks!
Back during K&C I used that popular 'Fungalock' zoo warlock deck and regularly achieved rank 7. I am now running this deck and I just downranked from rank 11 to 14. I have experience with zoolock and I'm frustrated. I feel like I'm going insane.
Is anyone else losing A LOT right now?
To be fair, I reached rank 11 this month with a meta spiteful priest top deck with an overall WR of like 60%, but I still shouldn't be doing this bad.
I would really like to watch some videos of this zoo in action.
just had a glinda up on turn 10 and drew keleseth.
+5 to my deck!
swapped out vicous fledgling for 3 mana lifesteal minion. helps make for less end games sitting in the ranged attack kill zone.
swapped out one doomgaurd for black knight. always seem to need one more taunt bypassed.
also tried swapping vicious for ironbeak owl. works pretty good that way too.
fun deck!
I started playing HS right after K&C came out and even though I have put some money into the game I felt like meta decks would just crush me in the 17-18 range of ladder. This is the first deck that I can play that is a ton of fun and really gives most meta decks a run for their money, it feels really good to come up on a cubelock, even/odd pally, spiteful priest etc and overwhelm them with the staying power of this deck.
My Odd Paladin deck feels so gimicky where this one has so many different options depending on card draw and your opponent that every match with it feels like a winnable puzzle. Broke into rank 14 of ladder for the first time tonight and still going.
I've really enjoyed playing this, I wanted to comment I've found Vicious Fledgling to be a super card when played in the right circumstances. It can really ramp up behind all the taunts in this deck and win on its own. Do you still recommend taking one out for Ratcatcher?
I've honestly had a harder time finding places to play Fungalmancer in the deck more often than Vicious Fledgling as I feel like all the other 4 and 5 cost cards are just a stronger play in general.
I was harsh on this deck earlier, and honestly, haven't had much better luck, though I did have some. Then, just now, on turn 5 against a Pally I brought out a 9/9 Sea Giant for 0 mana. I fully expect the lose the next 10 games because I used up all my luck, but it was worth it.
I've been playing and had success with these minor changes:
-1 Vicious Fledgling
-1 Fungalmancer
+1 Duskbat
+1 Ratcatcher
I've been satisfied. Both additions can be useful at times, and useful with echo from Glinda Crowskin, and Duskbat can feed Ratcatcher too.
And now I've lost 3 ranks with this deck. Bad RNG is *very* bad to this deck.
Update: 37% after 27 games. 2 losses were my fault for being dumb. Also, I got Bloodreaver Gul'dan every single game, while I saw Prince Keleseth maybe 6 times. I lost most games to RNG.
19:4 vs pally never ever
I'd suggest getting it played as soon as you can. The times I've tried waiting it with the combo have generally made the whole deck too slow but the advantage of a buffe'd deck have won me heaps of games.
I'm excited to give this deck a try, I loved zoo back in the day on my old account. Will be nice to play something other than boring cubelock.
I have only one problem with this deck. That i am facing it only on casual while playing yolo decks and never at ranked to farm it! Goddammit! I wish someone could reach high legend with it to cure us from the quest rogue plague.
What's the benefit of replacing fledgling with rat catcher?
Love this deck, it's been giving me a 60% win rate and i'm steadily climbing from 8-4 and have no doubt that i'll be able to hit at least 1 by the end of the month. Also leads to some fun situations with Glinda like 6 Giants on Board and something like this, led to some BULKY minions that they had no way of keeping up with, even with the health disparity
Obligatory "charge your phone" comment here
Have you tried Hooked Reaver? im thinking of playing a spin off of this deck -2 argus +2 reaver seems like it could be a good late game glinda as well as reaver with him is really good. You get to -15 life way more than you think
I also Just realized youre not playing soulfire do you ever seem to miss it?
thank u very much.
I had a rly nice tier1 deck with even paladin, but couldnt never leave rank 17. with this deck Im now 11 and almost even 10.
thx
