Hey guys! I've been doing very well on ladder with this elemental shaman build that I've used to climb from Rank 5 to Legend Rank. For some reason I haven't seen many popular streamers or legend players using this deck so I wanted to share.
Unfortunately I don't have any deck stats since I have mostly been playing on mobile...
Why should you play this deck?
- It has favored match-ups against Cube Warlocks, Aggro Paladins, AND Spiteful Druids! (YES, REALLY!)
- It is fun to play, especially when you get to go off with a bunch of spells from Hagatha or semi-infinite combo your Shudderwock!
- If you want to be mean and troll your opponent with infinite Shudderwocks, YOU CAN!
Game Plan vs Aggro:
- Control their aggresion with cheap elementals and a ton of taunts
- Continue to stall and clear their board in the mid game with board clears and taunts
- Out-race them if you have won the board OR stall until you can hit a big swing card (i.e. Kalimos, Hagatha, or Shudderwock)
Game Plan vs Control:
- GO FACE with all of your elementals - buffing them with Earthen Might is ideal
- Continue to put threats on the board to put your opponent on the back foot
- HEX all of their key minions (i.e. Doomguard against Warlock, any big taunt against Hadranox Druid)
- Eventually overwhelm your opponent with Hagatha spells or Shudderwock shenanigans
Key Points:
- Unless you are trying to go infinite, it is often a good option to play Shudderwock as early as turn 9 or 10. The deck is built to make him a fantastic defensive tool as long as you get your elemental triggers
- Remember that Hagatha's battlecry is repeated by Shudderwock! Can be very useful for stomping aggro and often means you can play Hagatha on curve without wasting her effect
- Mulligan aggressively for Fireflies, Earthen Might, 3 mana taunts, board clears, and (when applicable) Hexes
- REMEMBER ELEMENTAL TRIGGERS - always be planning 1 or 2 turns ahead
Hope you guys enjoy the deck! I will write a more in-depth guide if it continues to do well.
If I'd have to guess i'd say it's because the deck already has enough value generation and scalebane is pretty much necessary for steamrolling the board. I doubt the two less elementals makes that much of a difference, but replacing one of them probably isnt too bad in terms of the win condition of a out of control board goes, you can try it if you want.
this deck is very fun to play and surprisingly effective
shudderwock used blazecaller on me killing me :(
Ive bewn running a variant of this deck for a few days, i eventually removed a few elemental helpers for the otk combe to ensure the shudderwock finisher and i would reccomend to all others playing
Yeah I've been playing Elemental Shaman for days and it's very good. At first I was running Earthen Might. Today I tried Keleseth. I'd say Keleseth is slightly better overall, but man Firefly into Earthen is so strong ^^
Also I don't play AoE. I find Lightning storm to be very bad so I'd rather have good minions in the board to trade with than using this card. I'm not a fan of Volcano either in a very heavy minion based deck. You want the board, not to blow it up ! For that reason I prefer 2x Fire Elemental 2x Blazecaller, they do kind of the same job as AoE in terms of finishing minions but they give you a strong board presence. (and more minions instead of spells is good for Hagatha).
Scalebane is a nice 5-drop I didn't think of, I'll try it tomorrow. I'm personally running Fungalmancers what do you think about it ? They are nice to take instant value trade or to get out of AoE range I feel.
Hm yeah. But if you clear his board turn 4 with Storm, and the next turn he goes HP + Lost in the Jungle. What do you do with your 3 manas ? Another storm ? And two turns later when he'll have yet again 4/5 guys on board what do you do then ? It's way better (imo) to have minions to trade into those recruits than to relly on drawing ALL your AoE and spamming them turn after turn until you don't have one anymore and they level up! anyway.
Plus you need some board presence to threaten their life total yourself. I find it better to turn the pressure towards them. Because you'll never be able to AoE down their HP every turn. Odd paladin has a really poor way of dealing with mid-sized minions, this is the weakness to take advantage of.
It seems like you're no longer arguing either for or against the AOE, but instead how broken odd pally is, on which I think everyone can agree.
How strong is Earthen Might ? Since there are only 3 2 costs, you think Prince Keleseth would be any good in this deck? Of course, replacing Acidic Swamp Ooze with Gluttonous Ooze
I will say that Earthen Might is pretty nuts for early board control, and the elementals you get off of it are pretty consistently useful. Still, Keleseth has a ton of potential and might be more impactful, especially since Earthen Might can be a dead card if the opponent has the board.
Unfortunately I don't have the dust for him, but yes I think that is a good idea!
