Intro
With the launch of Witchwood and the hype around the new Shaman legendary Shudderwock, much emphasis has been on designing decks around it's potential to one turn kill.
However, Shudderwock is not only strong, but may even be stronger, as simply another high value potential win condition in a midrange/control deck.
Less hype has surrounded Hagatha the Witch however she too provides immense value in decks such as this.
The key is that both cards synergise with elemental decks as these not only play a lot of minions, but play a lot of minions with battlecries.
This, combined with other new cards available to Shaman in Witchwood, turns Elemental Shaman from a workable but lacklustre midrange deck to a high powered midrange deck that is not only capable of being highly aggressive in the early game but can also act as a control deck with huge late game threats and near endless value generation.
Strategy
This true strength in this deck is that it is extremely flexible, able to be aggressive or controlling depending on the matchup.
Against aggro you have multiple board clears in Lightning Storm, Volcano, Kalimos, Primal Lord and Hagatha, heal with the potential to generate even more heal later in the game via Servent of Kalimos and Hagatha's random spells.
Against midrange you have one of the strongest early game starts in the current meta in Firefly into Earthen Might that notably results in no loss of card advantage. You can leverage your totems as usual with Flametongue Totem, but new is the high tempo combination of Zap! and Unbound Elemental.
Finally, against control you have both Shudderwock and Hagatha the Witch. The former essentially acts as a value bomb in the late game, usually clearing part or all of the enemy board, possibly dealing some face damage, duplicating itself via the Saronite Chain Gang battlecry and refilling your hand with elementals. You also usually get some kind of beneficial effect from Kalimos.
Hagatha on the other hand means that you pretty much cannot lose card advantage vs control. With the number of minions you can drop even in a single turn whilst still having mana to spare, it's very likely you will draw AoE or removal when you need it, and sometimes burn to end the game or heals to keep you going.
Mulligan
vs aggro
Keep any of Firefly, Earthen Might, Zap!, Unbound Elemental, Hotspring Guardian, Tar Creeper and AoE - you can many options for a strong start
vs midrange
Attempt to out tempo with Firefly, Earthen Might, Zap!, Unbound Elemental
vs control
Keep Firefly, Earthen Might for a strong start. Unbound Elemental is less useful as Zap and AoE has fewer targets. Keep single target removal/silence vs Warlock and Priest.
hi guys, i made this deck, help with some thoughts?

Cancerous deck
Do the nightmare amalgam have a place in the deck? Hagatha gives out ice fishing and totemic might so often it seems.
Off topic, good grief I forgot how to make the card text show up in a post. Can anyone tell me how to do it?
I do like the elemental shaman way of playing, however there are some things you should take into account:
elementals battlecries that become random once Shudderwock sets in.
Replacements:
Is going kind of good for me so far.
21 - 8 Winrate from rank 15 to 10 - I exchanged Shudderwock for Stormforged Axe. Warlocks are a fucking pain, overall though a very solid deck.
I am missing the key card: Kalimos. For the time being I've inserted Al'Akir; does anyone have a better recommendation?
Thrall, Deathseer cancels Shuds effect, if anyone wants to try to use him as a suitable replacement for Hagatha
P.S. I just saw a streamer's Shudderwock kill him by Fire Elementalling his face
I tried Thrall in my similar deck. It works pretty well until you play Shudderwock. It just evolves itself and doesn't continue to play the rest of the battlecries :/
Yeah I saw that on a stream RIGHT after posting this...
I've been playing kind of similar list but without the AoE and with more board presence. Fungalmancer works very well in elemental Shaman.
Also - I built a slower elemental deck. I find Shudderwok's battlecry underwhelming, even with a lot more battlecries in the deck. Hagatha and Grumble, Worldshaker I think would accomplish more.
Hey I hate self advertising but I think I came up with a really interesting fatigue shaman decklist that really proves your "Shudderwock's battlecry is underwhelming" statement wrong. Here please check it out: https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1091142-fatigue-shaman
Looks good. I just meant in the elemental deck it was underwhelming. You have to play an elemental the turn before just to get half of them to trigger. And then the targets are random, and the effects are small. 3 damage from Fire Elementals and 2 from Fire Plume Phoenix etc. So on a relatively full board it all gets spread out to thin and doesn't large effect the board state right away. At best it just puts more cards in your hand for the long hall.
Oh ok sorry for the misunderstanding. Totally agree with you on that
Why use Unbound Elemental when you only have 6 overload cards?
The Fire Plume Phoenix gives you a great battlecry effect. Or Igneous Elemental. You loose only one health but gain the deathrattle?
It's sad the OTK Shamen deck is overshadowing the elemental potential.
I've been trying to test this deck, so far going great with score of 15-5 going from rank 15 to rank 12. However, I teched in Grumble, Worldshaker replacing Earth Shock. It sometimes helps me bounce back my Kalimos, Primal Lord and other elementals to survive aggro. I get that it has anti-synergy with Shudderwock in this deck, but it seems that being able to play 2 copies of Shudderwock in a turn each with 1-2 Kalimos, Primal Lord battlecries have helped me win some games.
I will play more games to test this deck.
I am glad to see that I am not the only person that wants to play elemental shaman instead of OTK Shaman. Have you considered putting in Stormforged Axe as an early game tool? I know it's not as strong as jade claws were but considering that this deck's turn two play is nonexistent unless it already has a board, I feel like the card is necessary for maintaining early game tempo. Let me know what you think.
That's a good idea man.
What do you run differently than what is in OP's list?
Thx
