The deck is not finished and improving, wide-open for suggestion and advice.
This is my version of Mr. Yaguts' Tess/Collector Rogue. According to my experience the original deck was really bad against odd Paladin and aggro Face hunter which is really common in the lower ranks. So I remove the extra Sap because it is useless against wide board (there's not enough Warlocks around to justify it), and made some room for 2 Tar Creepers, 2 Saronite Chain Gangs, and 2 Fan of Knives to increase the chance of winning. With this version of the deck I managed to raise my rank from 19 to 9 quite easily.
The goal in this deck is similar to Tempo Rogue which is to build up your board and ultimately use Cold Blood, Eviscerate, and Leeroy Jenkins to seek lethal. With 2 additional card from the new expansion which is Tess Greymane as an alternative win-condition, and Face Collector as late game fuel.
Remember that Tess Greymane cost 8 mana. Don't be greedy and hold off possible huge tempo gain, even summoning a 4-6 mana minion is enough to justify using this card when needed.
Mulligan :
Fire Fly and Fan of Knives vs. Aggro Paladin and Hunter
Hallucination and Blink Fox vs. Elemental Mage and Shudderwock Shaman
Backstab and Hench-Clan Thug vs. Spiteful Priest
Note:
-Face Collector seems to be quite slow, I get a lot of Master Oarkheart, Countess Ashmore, Deathwing, and other big legendary cards that either too slow or just plain bad to use on this deck. Most of the time this card is used as 3 mana 2/2 wih echo. Considering to replace this card with Phantom Militia for more control option. While it is true that the card is slow, Face Collector give a lot of value against slower matchup
-Currently experimenting with Mossy Horror. Able to make some cute plays. but below average most of the time.
-Considering to re-add Spellbreaker
-Considering to add an Ooze card to counter Skull of the Man'ari, Gorehowl, and other weapon.
Deck edit :
-Hench-Clan Thug +Spellbreaker
I feel that the deck have enough cards in 3 mana slot to let 1 Hench go and add Spellbreaker as a tech card
I removed that couple of useless 2-drops to fit in Keleseth, shadowstep and Sonya. Results are pretty cruel
Most playable rogue deck at rank 10.
I spent last two weeks trying different rogue decks (tess, kingsbane, aggro) on rank 10 and I couldn't reach a single win rate. Trying this deck I went from 10 (no stars) to 8 in a couple of hours with a 76% winrate (17 games)
Taunt Druid : 3W / 1L (just silence Hadronox)
Cubelock: 2W / 2L (it really depends on how much pressure you can put on turns 1-5)
All Paladin deck types: 4W (fuck yeah)
Elemental Mage: 1W
Not quest Warrior: 1L
Quest Rogue: 1W
Aggro (Tess) Rogue: 2W
Its mt first deck showcase
I don't even need trying it to say it almost never wins against cubelocks who are the huge part of the ladder.
Ofc, it is anti aggro afterall, this deck is specifically design to counter Bakudin and Hunter. Although I wouldn't say that this deck can't win against them.
I think I'm doing something wrong, but I'm always playing this deck from behind.
I've played against Shamans, Mages and Warlocks so far and I've always been stuck with a shit hand while they beat my face in.
Those classes are the harder match up for this deck. You need to be on the offense against Shaman and Secret/Aggro Mage, and you need to out-value your opponent using Tess against Warlock and Elemental Mage.
im testing this deck ( 8-0 Right now) i won againts Dudes paladin, face hunter, Warrior rush, Quest warrior, Priest inner ! - im loving this *-* . vs Aggro you have too many tools to beat him, very good early game! in this kind of games you never use tess greymane BUT in control games greymane is the victory key!! ( im sorry , my english is bad)
Thanks for the deck! +++++ Up vote +++++
What about adding Mindbreaker to counter odd paladin and odd hunter?
I think it only sounds good on paper. Those decks have a lot of 1 mana cards so they'll still be able to swarm you.
I really like this deck, thanks! (Created this account just to comment)
I can’t believe it was SO easy to beat a paladin.
Now, is there space for tech cards? Acidic swamp ooze? Vanish? Thanks again!
I'm currently removing Fan of Knives and Shadowstep to add Acidic Swamp Ooze and Spellbreaker for better match up against Cubelock
What would you replace Edwin VanCleef with? To me he just looks like filler.
Edwin VanCleef is a good card that pose early threat and works well with the tempo styled deck. In worse case a casual 3 mana 4/4 is good enough to gain momentum, though most of the time you will end up with 6/6 stats or up. Pretty much instant pick in most Rogue decks.
I wouldn't replace Edwin for another card, but if you don't have him you could opt for tech cards instead.
/respect first thief rogue I played with a positive win rate on ladder.
Any way to fit azalina in this deck against control? I know it’s suppsoed to be against aggro, but for control you can sacrifice a card I think
I've been playing without Shadowstep for some time and the deck still function nicely, maybe you can swap that out
How are you playing the mirror match?
Is it possible to tech in something to perform better in this unusual case?
Just started laddering again with a variant of your deck, so much fun and success, 8:2 for now.
It's really hard to fight mirror match up with this deck. Most of the mirror fight I had was with another Tess Rogue that has a more aggressive take on the deck. I mean, this deck is okay against mirror but you need some luck to steal those useful spells and minion. I just play the deck like a normal tempo Rogue minus Keleseth and put a lot of minion on the board.
Mirror is pretty rare though, so I don't really know what card to tech.
