I dont know why this works, but i won 12 games in a row with it. Currently rank 2, 3 stars, trying for legend tonight.
Hit legend! From rank2, 3stars with only 3 losses.
Mulligan for ramp and oaken summons.
Crazy OP combos --> umbra cube on a fat taunt, umbra witching hour a hadronox, umbra cube a hadronox. Witching hour a witchwood grizzly or hadronox.
Why not this card?
Spreading plague & malfurion DK: dont want to resurrect 1/5 beasts or 1/5 taunt
Prince taldaram: negative synergy with oaken summons and witching hour can't be played then.
EDIT: removed a second ultimate infestion because it was a dead draw way too many times, and removed lich king as it was too slow, added 2 wraths for removal and sometimes draw when you need it.
If you have qustions please ask them =)
(P.S, cubelock is the easiest matchup for this deck)
I love playing this style of deck. Always fun to out do the AOE that cubelock has.
What if you get Spiritsinger Umbra from Oaken Summons sooner than expected? That seems awful.
Other than that, I'm liking the deck and I think it has potential.
I'm playing kind of a similar deck right now, with some littles changes.
I'm not using the same taunts : I used to play Lich King but I cut it for the 2nd Primordial Drake I initially didn't have. It's kind of great to ressurect, but I was too many hand-size issue because of him. Too many DK cards are bad/unplayable and it's a problem when Hadronox is in the bottom of the deck and you need to draw it.
Also I don't use Witchwood Grizzly as it interfere with your Witching Hour. Instead I use Rotten Applebaum that is quite decent too.
I also played Umbra and Faceless in my first draft of the deck. But Umbra gets summoned by Oaken Summons (it took me 5 or 6 games to realize xD) and Witching Hour + Cube is doing the same, if not better, job as Witching Hour + Umbra.
For the Faceless I finally cut it because the deck is already greedy enough and close to unbeatable in the late game. Instead of those two I've put two Tar Creeper : they're great at helping you survive aggro decks, and it's ok to ressurect them even if they are pretty low impact because with a full board and Branching Path you OTK people most of the time anyway.
So for me, - Lich King - Umbra - Faceless - 2x Grizzly > +2x Rotten Applebaum +2x Tar Creeper + 1x ferocious howl (helps survive aggro and draw Hadronox)
I'd rather wait for Hadronox. Against Cubelock for instance you can't just resurrect a Grizzly because you don't draw Hadronox, you will never win the late game this way, and it's true for a lot of match-ups.
At worst, maybe put Master Oakheart in the deck to dig for her when you don't draw her.
Also after more testing I actually put Lich King back in, but cut one UI. Double UI was the main problem of my hand-size issue since you have so much big drops (playing LK + 2 primo + hadro + oakheart atm).
The grizzlys completely ruin witching hour, would not run them. Last thing you want is to pull a grizzly late game. There is only one card you want.
This deck archetype is really strong, I was using a similar hadronox deck but kind of merged mine and this together. I made some changes that have been working for me.
I took out Oaken Summons & Ironwood golems as I felt they were really weak. It would be really strong if you could summon out a Witchwood Grizzly but he's 5 mana. This lets you tech in Spellbreaker without interfering with Summons and also lets you play 2 Greedy Sprites without being restricted by summons as well.
I teched in Harrison because there are a lot of weapons being used. Took out both spellstones for wraths since the armor gain from summons is gone. The possible draw from Harrison/Wraths was enough for me to take out 1 UI.
Put in 2 Rotten Applebaums as a midrange drop with heal that also combos with Umbra to replace the Ironwood Golems. Hopes are to ramp over turn 4 or use turn 4 for swipes for board control.
Starfall is a good card to put in as there seems to be a lot of board flood right now.
Right now I'm still trying to figure out the naturalizes. I want to get greedy and only have 1 in as a combo piece for Hadronox or for the cubelock matchup, so it probably depends on the meta.
tldr changes -
-2 Oaken Summons, -2 Ironwood Golem, -1 Ultimate Infestation, -2? Lesser Jasper Spellstone,, -1 or 2? Naturalize
+2 Greedy Sprite, +1 Spellbreaker, +1 Harrison Jones, +2 Rotten Applebaum, +1 Starfall, +2 Wrath - Something needs to not be added to make room for the 1 or 2 naturalizes. Could also maybe take out Faceless Manipulator.
Anyhow, from what the matchups look like to me so far in Day 1, this deck should be capable enough to take to anyone to legend. The lategame of this deck if Hadronox gets cubed is absolutely insane.
Wouldn't Astral Tiger be a good addition? I know that Oaken summons doesn't have a certain chance to pull a taunt then, but this way, Grizzled guardian always has something to pull. It doesn't count as a beast too, so it wouldn't make Witching hour any worse. Also, isn't 2x Nourish and 2x Ultimate Infestation way too much card draw? I can't imagine not having useless card draw in my hand, especially after playing the first UI. This is also the kind of deck where you really don't want to burn some particular cards.
Prefect Deck !!!
