This deck is called Turn 5 Baku Pally because you will frequently win by turn 5. The deck uses the new card Baku the Mooneater to summon lots of Silver Hand Recruits, and then capitalizes on all those silver hand recruits with a number of buffs and support cards allowing you to quickly turn a board of 1-1s into lethal damage.
Mulligan: Find your 1 drops.
Early Game: Get control of the board through use of your hero power, your divine shield 1 drops, secrets and Muster for Battle/Unidentified Maul. Face damage at this stage is less important than making sure that you can have at least 4 minions on the board that can "stick." If you are on the coin, there is very little reason not to use it in your first 3 turns. The early tempo boost it gives you can be key in a lot of matchups.
Turn 5 onward: This is where you can start to capitalize on your overwhelming minion presence. Use cards like Level Up, Quartermaster and Funglemancer to buff the hell out of your very wide board. If you have a lot of minions on board always count to see if you have lethal. This is the stage of the game where you want to start going face and planning for how you are going to finish the game. If you opponent keeps having answers to your board/you weren't able to get board control in the beginning, then you do not want to be playing your buff cards. Instead hold onto them and continue to try and flood the board. Eventually your opponent should run out of clears or decide it's not worth it to keep clearing your 1-1s and decide to go face. That is when you strike with your buffs.
Late Game: If for some reason you haven't been able to close out the game yet, you still have a lot of value thanks to your upgraded hero power. Continue to try and flood the board and use your buffs wisely to fight for control until you see your opening where you can hit your opponent for lethal. With Vinecleaver equipped, you can threaten quite a bit of face damage while also consistently being able to generate 4 silver hand recruits per turn.
Taunt spam OTK Druid: The deck you never seem to face....until you play this deck.
Why not run Hobgoblin?
Hobgoblin is "fine", but for it to be good, you really have to combo it, which is not exactly easy to do in this deck when it costs 3 and this deck is trying to win early. Basically, why run a card that is dead unless you combo it when you can just run combo cards like level up that just win the game.
Fun deck! I made a short video. Not having access to Call to Arms may seem problematic. However, you make up for it with that upgraded hero power. Against Priests that can board clear constantly, I find the ability to keep putting Dudes on board from the upgraded hero power keeps you in the game. Deciding when to buff the dudes (i.e. after you have seen some board clears) seems to be a key to winning.
Glad you enjoyed it, really like the video!
I got legend 2 days ago with pretty much this deck. No competitive spirit or Noble sacrifice. It never really paid off big or just seemed dicey when it could go off. I also didnt run any Vineclevers or Stand Against.
Up to rank 3 I ran 2 x Mind Control and 2x Frostwolf Warlord 2 x Owl and Leeroy... I faced a lot of other paladins.. stealing a knife juggler was nice and dropping a 10/10 or turn 5 was nice if no quartermaster or level up... Leeroy for Face
After rank 3 I faced more big priest and control druid and my only hope was pushing past them. I ran a more aggressive deck to hopefully finish them sooner than later . - Mind Control Tech - Owl and +Blessing of Might and + Firefly... for a minute I have the old Bolvar included but it probly won me 1 game.... Blessings won me a couple games to get extra damage before and board wipe was definitely coming. Also with Leeroy 12 damage on turn 7
What did u take out?
I didn't have Competitive Spirit, Noble Sacrafice, Vineclevers or Stand Against Darkness.
My mulligan was for Avenge and Muster. Turn 1 Avenge Turn 2 Tap Turn 3 Muster and usually had a 4/3 and 3 one ones with a weapon. Righteous Protector and hope they dont clear for Quartmaster or Level up on 5 or a Frostwolf Warlord
I dont see much use for mind control. and why take out competitive spirit?
I was playing a lot of paladins from rank 5 to 3 but they were not odd and ran call to arms. Mind Control Tech helped me steal something good of theirs since I couldnt run any two drops. If you dont see much use for it then don't run it. I just tried and it worked for me. I believe it won me many games against other aggro paladins. I wasn't running it from rank 2 to legend because I faced more control decks. Big Priest, A Armor Druid deck that used Toggwaggle and Azalina, and a Warlock deck that used Naga. Against these decks I added 2x Blessings of Might in hopes to beat them quickly because I couldnt out value them like I could the aggro Paladins
The game was usually over before I could get any value I felt from Competitive Spirit and in the early games trading was going on or board wipes and if it did anything would just make a 1/1 a 2/2 for 1 mana. And in the later game I always wanted the quartermaster or level up so it kinda felt like a bad draw later too. I Just felt like I had enough buffs for my 1/1s. Adding stickier minions or something big seemed better. I ran it for awhile but eventually took it out.
I'm running into decks that are designed to counter this. It's clears after clears. Many priests just running a clear until I run out of cards.
This is how I play this deck. I mulligan for 1 drops, then I proceed to smash my face into the keyboard. I only stop to clean the blood from my face. After I'm done cleaning up, I seem to have won. This strategy is fool proof.
It's not a complicated deck to play.
Sarcasm, sir, it's called being sarcastic. It's form of dry humor. My post is saying what you said, but in a funny way.
Does Mukla's Champion have any place in this deck? It is insane with the hero power... maybe swap for one of the Vinecleaver
I tried it, but it felt too slow. Vinecleaver at least can be used for face damage. This list is very unrefined though so I'm sure you can mess around with it.
I would put warhorse trainer instead of raid leader. Basically the same purpose but much better bodyForget it, I did not read well enough
without silence...what rank did you take with this?
If you win by turn 5 there's not much you need to silence. Ironwood golem? I took it to rank 5 from rank 9. It was 2nd day of the meta though so lots of very unrefined lists. This deck could definitely be refined though.
