Edit: after play testing I realized that the new pali weapon is really good and the deck lacked card draw to an extent. putting Harrison was the perfect fit. and zap as mentioned in the comments was much better the lightning strike.
Game plan is to stall with as many control/taunt/heal cards as possible and then follow the guide below.
How it works:
1) Play one or more Saronite Chain Gang, play one or more Lifedrinker, and play Grumble, Worldshaker in any order throughout the game.
2) Play Fire Plume Harbinger when you have Murmuring Elemental in hand. This can be done whenever the Murmuring will get the discount (even before playing the cards listed in step 1!). The other option for this is to play Murmuring Elemental followed by Grumble, Worldshaker in the same turn, which will also result in a 1 mana Murmur in your hand.
3) At 10 mana play your discounted Murmuring Elemental for 1 mana and then Shudderwock. This results in you having one (or more) copies of Shudderwock that cost 1 mana in your hand. This setup will also result in healing you for 12, assuming you played both Lifedrinker previously.
4) The next turn, play Shudderwock 10 times dealing up to 42 damage. and healing you for that much all the while returning more Shudderwock to you hand
Playing first Murmuring Elemental helps guaranty the combo goes off. as Grumble, Worldshaker battlecry can't target itself at least one of the Saronite Chain Gang battle cries will go off first. since the order of battlecries is random the second wave of battlecries will target at least on addition Shudderwock.
Is there a replacement for Harrison Jones? I hadn't used him in a couple of years so I nerfed him. Now I'll have to craft him again if need be.
I would question the Lightning Bolt. I'm not sure if it is that good and even if it is the new 0 mana deal 2 is almost certainly better.
You are going to have alot of dead cards in your hand if you run double Sandbinder and an extra Murmuring Elemental and Fire Plume Harbinger (which is technically not required). I would either cut the Sandbinders and replace it with regular card draw, or I would cut the the extra elementals as the Sandbinders will allow you to draw them consistently enough without needing extra.
I agree that lightning bolt isn't great by any definition, however the difference between 2 damage and 3 is kinda significant. and for the extra mana in a control deck you can kill more but lose out on the tempo plays your not to likely to care about.
murmuring in hand isn't bad if you still have one in your deck as you can copy battlecries hat help you stay alive with chain gang and lifedrinker or get more from sandbinder. the fireplume is in the deck for redundancy aalthough would be one of the first cards to get cut. but I'm not sure what it would be replaced with. maybe a tech card.
i would argue u are trying to max out mana on drawing every turn
What about Nightblade?
I considered nightblade for the extra damage but it still wouldn't kill the opponent without needing another turn for more shudderwocks. so I would rather just run more control cards to help outlive agro and midrange
I would actually recommend Lone Champion over Feral Spirit, not only is the deck pretty threat light meaning that it is very likely that you will be able to activate the battlecry, there is not a small chance that Shudderwock can get the divine shield and taunt if it triggers before the Saronite Chain Gang battlecry or after the Grumble, Worldshaker one. This would mean that along with the healing from Lifedrinker battlecries that you might end up with the Tirion Fordring body protecting you from a lethal backswing after the first Shudderwock.
First off, thanks for the explanation. If the field isn't clear when you play lone champion does the battlecry still go off? just not giving it taunt. Thus Sudderwock would still copy the battlecry, even if lone champion does get it. Either way I think its probably better due to the overload on feral spirits.
just realized that since you play murmuring first at least the first shudderwock wont get the divine shield and taunt
You basically have a probability of 1/3 (or 1/4 if you have played 2 chain gangs) off the first battlecry trigger getting it, by the grumble battlecry triggering first. And it has a probability of 2/3 (or 1/2 if you've played 2 chain gangs) off the second battlecry trigger of it happening. It also has a decent chance of spawning a second taunt divine shield body on the second battlecry trigger. Even if you don't get the trigger though the combo seems really strong, and just the 2/4 taunt body seems good in the midgame.
We'll see in a few days once the patch rolls out how good this deck is, but I think your list is one of the most optimized that I've seen, and this deck has a real possibility of being the best deck in the game.
I'll definitely be playing a ton of this combo deck.
with shudderwock murmuring elemental is already on the board because its played right before. sure without it youll get the divineshield and taunt but you have a chance of messing up the combo. so its always safer to play murmuring first. The deck will need testing and more optimization. mentally I think its pretty hard to beat especially one the meta calms down in a month or so.
Did you consider the fact that order of shudderwock's battlecries are random?
It's not random, Ben Brode confirmed during the reveal stream that it replays them in order.
I was just about to say that xD
He also confirmed that he was mistaking and that this IS in random order. If you don't believe me, just watch the game again and see that it's not in the same order everytime.
But it doesn't matter because you play murmuring elemental exactly for that. You double battlecry, so you are guaranteed to get one back in hand, since on the second battlecry, even if grumble's effect goes first, you already copied from saronite's battlecry during the first battlecry.
I like the fact that people know your right so they down vote your reply lol
need advice on cutting the feral spirit for a far sight. as most of the draws would be discounted to anywhere from 3-6 mana. with it being likely to find a board wipe if needed.
