Hello,
I’ve done a lot of tinkering with theif rogue and tried to make it work in the past and after some consideration I believe this could be an interesting build for it.
A lot of people will question my inclusion of Lilian Voss and I assure you I have a good reason.
She isn’t in the deck to replace your Rogue spells which are very useful to you.
She is in the deck to help you replace your low rolls with random card generation such as with LK cards as Army of the dead and other high mana cost spells you can’t utilize with Rogue. So although a lot of people dislike her I believe she can get you out of some bad hand situations.
My inlcusion of Elise the Trailblazer is to help you in your matchups vs other Rogues as in those matchups your Tess Greymane and Spectral Cutlass end up being dead cards with little to no value.
The way you get value from them is by having Elise the Trailblazer and The Lich King generate cards which could be cast by Tess Greymane and increase durability on your Spectral Cutlass.
Rotten Applebaum seems like a good neutral taunt to have for some more life gain. Doomsayer and Tar Creeper for some early game vs aggro.
This deck is mainly as a fun archetype and although it could have some success it probably won’t be very competitive, but hey not all decks have to be.
Also to be noted Im considering replacing The Lich King with Valeera the Hollow as she would be better fit to win vs late game control matchups with extra card generation.
Hey here is my take on a somewhat similar list, I tried to focus a bit more on pure Value and Card draw, maybe you like some of the Ideas.
Your list gets destroyed by every single budget aggro deck in the game while also unable to outvalue Control decks.
With 2 weapons u have 1 bad draw more often than not.
2x Cheap Shot 2x Pick Pocket = too much mana/turns wasted for not much same applies to Face Collector( imo Face Collector is a really bad card, dont misunderstand me, its a fun card but also a bad card) 3 mana 2-2 do nothing isnt great, 6 mana 4-4 is Spiteful Summoner when u drawn all your spells.
2x Mimic Pod would hurt you a lot more than it would benefit you.
While certainly more flavorful for the deck, I feel like if you are going to be running a weapon buff package you might as well just run kingsbane, as it us immune to weapon removal and just a more solid card in general. Also, do the death knight cards from lich king count as cards from other classes? Even if they do, the only one I see being useful off of tess is anti magic shell. Valeera does allow you to double up on blink foxes and hallucinations, so Id say it fits the deck pretty nicely.
Pretty much what I thought,
LK generates more Tempo while Valeera more value and seeing as this is a bit slower deck I think Valeera would fit more however I will test both versions when the patch goes live.
It also depends on the meta changes, if there are a lot of Rogues LK will be more useful I believe with Tess while Valeera will be better vs both aggro and control decks.
As for the weapon Im not sure including Kingsbane would be good because for Kingsbane you'd need to sacrifice a lot of your deck for it and by the time you actually get Kingsbane, leaching poisons and buffs for it, it'll be too late more often than not.
Kingsbane with no buffs is a 1 mana dagger up while Cutlass lets you get a lot of value from it on the turn its played.
Kingsbane version would have to include Leaching Poison(x1 at least), Deadly Poison(2x), and probably Cavern Shinyfinders which is already 6 cards for 1 card in your deck and compromising the deck so much would hurt you more than you'd gain.
True, which is why I think it may not be worth it to include either weapon. Theoretically, you could just run kingsbane with a single deadly poison like you have and then just throw in a leeching poison and call it good there and you’d still have a better weapon than spectral cutlass.
So I've done a lot of tinkering and I think this deck could work well, the main problem for this deck would be vs Cubelock but it has saps equipped and hopefully with some good RNG could outvalue it as well.
Also considering putting Valeera instead of LK cuz she would give more versatility + I heard that if you play another DK from random cards Tess will replay Rogue cards which could actually be hurtful to you so putting in Valeera would get you out of that spot if you play Valeera after playing the other DK.
