Nana here to showcase his anti-aggro deck. This is not the first time I've tried to make taunt druid work. The other time I did I got to top 200 legend with it quite easily. proof
Just coached my brother to legend with this updated list. He got there with a 61% winrate. So if you are struggling to get there this final week this is the deck to go for :) hf
Let me show you how this would work:
Core cards;
I'm sure you can see the synergies without me pointing them out.
Here's a simple mulligan
Note: Don't keep Master Oakheart unless you have the needed ramp in your mulligan phase
A little in-depth mulligan against aggro or control decks, these are of the highest priority
Against Control: Keep, Master Oakheart, Nourish, Oaken Summons and Wild Growth
Against Aggro: Keep, Lesser Jasper Spellstone, Oaken Summons, Wrath, Swipe and Wild Growth
Gameplan;
Ramp up quickly with Wild Growth and Nourish, get your taunts out there and whittle your opponent down.
Later in the game look for combos like;
Hadronox now summons;
Tips Section
Against Aggro, ramp as quickly as possible and put your taunts down.
You can Drop your Hadronox into a Doomsayer if you have enough dead Taunts to deny your opponent setup time
Hadronox + Naturalize is going to win you a lot of games, you should not throw your Hadronox into a silence because you're impatient. Also don't waste your Naturalize every time you need something to disappear, you have a lot of armor for a reason
Branching Paths can give you a lethal you might not realize afterHadronox Vomits
You can put Hadronox down without naturalize if you're playing against a non-mage/non-shaman deck and cube it later. If they silence and kill it just play your Witching Hour and Cube that
That's all for now

Having a lot of fun with this deck. I cut Dragonhatcher for an extra Tar Creeper and UI for Harrison Jones
Working very well so far
I have a variant of this deck that I run in Wild. In general, it struggles against aggro even though it should be demolishing it, and has its best games against control. Aside from Spellstone (which I was stupid and forgot about) and Drake (which I can't afford in the near future) are there any cards that you think would help beat aggro? Also, how important is the Master Oakheart/Dragonhatcher plan to this deck?
Tar Creeper and Ironwood Golem and Tar Creeper are the cards that should help you counter aggro in the early game along with Swipe. Just mulligan for those cards especially Swipe against Paladin and you'll be good. The only decks that should give you a hard time are the Spiteful ones but if you don't think they're enough you can try other Taunts and see how it goes along with your Doomsayer
You can replace him with the Ferocious Howl I took out for draw and cycle
Honestly he is probably the LEAST necessary part of the deck. The only point is to maximize value by pulling Tar Creeper, Ironwood Golem and Dragonhatcher. You could consider cutting Master Oakheart and Dragonhatcher completely.
Master Oakheart is good but not necessary. He's REALLY good at getting you out of situation where Hadronox is in the bottom of your deck and you're losing, but if you draw Hadronox he's kind of useless.
I run a similar deck with two Evolving Spores and Faceless Manipulator. This is really useful against some enemies, particularly spiteful decks--for example, when they highroll a Tyrantus on turn 6 when I just have a Tar Creeper out, I copy it behind a taunt next turn and can usually keep at least one taunt up every turn while I smash his face in with his own minion. Also, this lets me copy the Lich King or an enemy Obsidian Statue (this one makes you basically unkillable) to improve the taunt pool even more.
Evolving Spores is a surprise attack that lets me finish an enemy. It isn't in any standard version of this deck so nobody sees it coming when suddenly my taunt wall gets +3 attack and windfury or suddenly becomes poisonous with divine shield.
Skulking Geist and tranform effects does ruin the end game plan, but those cards and not too common and if you're careful enough to never give your opponent the chance to silence your Hadronox, almost no deck can outvalue the sheer amount of taunts that flood the board. More board re-fills , more healing (armour), and more card draw (excluding hero power) than cubelock, sign me up. It's only more vulnerable to silence and transforms, and has less tempo/burst (although don't underestimate Branching Paths).
You are happy enough if Hadronox died under the silence. vs 2 hexes you must pray to summon at least 1 Hadronox from 2 Witching Hour's
The mirror and matches vs cubelock... takes 2 hours haha... otherwise really fun to play!
God I hate this mirror matches...
Totally agree that Ferocious Howl is underrated here. I disagree with the The Lich King though; in my experience he is one of the only good pushers for damage in the late game (Rotten Applebaum probably being the best and Ironwood Golem being near-useless unless in late game fatigue since you armor will be drained). I think Master Oakheart is fun, but also sub-optimal since it requires a lot of "luck" and isn't a game ender or anything. I also think 2x Carnivorous Cube is probably excessive since it can be a "dead draw" early in the game.
The deck is has flexible slots, hence the revisions. Cards like Ferocious Howl are great for armor gain, but it doesn't help remove minions on the board against aggro matchups, unlike your smaller taunt minions like Tar Creeper.
Also, Master Oakheart is indeed unnecessary, but you don't need Dragonhatcher + Primordial Drake for value. If you run 2x Tar Creeper and - 2 Ironwood Golems, Oakheart acts as a second copy of Hadronox, which should improve consistency and some speed (in theory).
Nice deck, +1!
Anyone tried experimenting with heavier dragon package? (e.g.: Deathwing and/or Sleepy Dragon )
A lot of people is using Skulking Geist after this deck popularized, ruining with the possibility of same turn resurrect. And if you're playing against a priest, mage or shaman is pretty instaloss, because they will mind control, polymorph or hex the next turn you put the Hadronox.
This deck is in a nice spot at moment, but will be pretty bad as meta stabilizes and people know how to build against it.
Because of that i run Innervate + Baleful Banker and of course Faceless Manipulator because he can be used on controlled Hadronox and you can play Cube on him at the same turn
Just a question, is Master Oakheart worth or i could swap it with a second Tar Creeper ? With 2x Oaken Summons does not look really necessary imho :/
You can, it simply helps you Draw Hadronox quickly
Master Oakheart isn't worth the slot IMO. If he pulls Hadronox and he gets silenced (assuming no Naturalize in hand), you're cooked. More likely you will get the Ironwood Golem anyway. It also needs Dragonhatcher to maximize value which really seems like a waste if you have drawn the Dragonhatcher previously.
Thanks for the infos ;)
