Hey guys, it's been a while since I've last posted a deck, and that's because I had decided to take a short break from HS. Before the yearly rotations kick in, I want to share a few more decks that remind us of the good ol' days. This deck in particular is a bit chillier than the others, and might remind you of the time when you accidentally drank salty sea water. Senfglas recently hit top 20 Legend using this deck, crushing several staple meta decks like cube & control warlocks and a few murlocadins on the journey.

Ever since the release of Kobolds and Catacombs control mage archetypes have started to lean towards big spells to tip the tides in their favor through cards like Arcane Artificer, Dragoncaller Alanna and Dragon's Fury. However, Senfglas' freeze mage relies more on freezing the opponents board while burning them out and out valuing other control decks with Frostlich Jaina. This deck runs 2 copies of frostbolt, frost nova & primordial glyph, which allows you to clear your opponents threats in aggro matchups with ease, while relying on Arcane Artificer to push you back into the game once your Iceblocks are popped.

If you guys are looking for a competitive ladder deck for the current meta, other than the nostalgic freeze mage, make sure to check out zetalot's mindblast priest, and leave an upvote if you enjoyed :) !

Video:

As always, Kiwiinbacon has made a great video showcasing the deck's upswing and potential if played correctly. I highly recommend that you watch the video, as the deck is very difficult to master and having an insight on how to play the deck from someone who plays it well helps a lot! Make sure to subscribe to his channel for more great content, and like the video if you enjoyed it :) !

 Mulligan Guide:

With this deck, a good mulligan could make all the difference between winning and loosing so, mulliganing correctly is very important.

You should always keep card arcanologist, no matter the match up. Also, always keep Jaina against control & keep skulking geist against priest & warlock. Consider keeping Alexstrasza against control if you have a good hand.

Against Aggro:

Against aggressive and fast-paced decks, you are looking to keep more reactive, early game cards.

Frostbolt, arcanologist, primordial glyph, arcane intellect, doomsayer  and Acolyte of Pain are the cards that you're looking to keep. More conditional keeps are medivh's valet, which you only keep if you have an arcanologist & the coin, or a really good hand.

 Against Control:

Against control decks, you are looking for less reactive cards and more card draw . You should highly consider keeping Frostlich Jaina, as playing her on turn 9  drastically increases your odds of winning the game.

Always keep arcanologist, as usual; arcane intellect; Frostlich Jaina; acolyte of pain; and skulking geist against priests.  You can consider keeping a primordial glyph in the hopes of getting a card draw or more burn, but I prefer not to.

     Card Replacements & Tech Choices:

Since this deck does have quite a few legendaries and epics, I'll try to give the best replacements for cards that some of you don't have and may not want to craft.

Image result

Alexstrasza: Pretty much irreplaceable, but if you don't want to craft her, given that the deck will be rendered useless after the rotations you can try replacing her with Dragoncaller Alanna as another endgame tool & replacing 1x Pyroblast & 1x Polymorph for 2x Firelands Portal.

Skulking Geist: Firelands Portal, or meteor. In my opinion, Firelands Portal is the best option.

Doomsayer: IRREPLACEABLE

Pyroblast: Firelands Portal, or a meteor if you haven't replaced any other burn & late game card.

Frostlich Jaina: Replace her with Dragoncaller Alanna & cut 1x Polymorph for 1x Firelands Portal and 1x Pyroblast for another Firelands.

Iceblock: IRREPLACEABLE

Primordial Glyph: Firelands Portal > Meteor > Acidic swamp ooze + Polymorph

Image result for Meteor golden HSImage result for golden blizzardImage result for golden frost nova

The reason why I don't like meteor is that with 4x freeze effects, possible 5+ with Primordial Glyphs, & doomsayers, you often try to extend your freeze effects as much as possible so that you can burn all their resources & just constantly freeze their board while playing an Iceblock and following up with Alexstrasza into Lethal.

Other Tech choices include a second polymorph, which I am also not a fan of due to the same reasons, and an acidic swamp ooze, that has proven as too conditional and inconsistent to take a spot in the deck.

With the frenzy of combo & control priests in the meta, skulking geist as pretty much become the go-to tech card in control & freeze mage, as it also allows you to destroy warlocks' dark pacts. Firelands Portal, Flamestrike & Dragoncaller Alanna are the best tech cards & substitutes in this deck, since they don't disrupt your gameplan & contribute even further to the burn gameplan.

Plays & General Gameplan:

Early on against aggro, the main goal is surviving & using your resources as wisely as possible. After contesting & fighting for the board with your arcanologists, try to pair your doomsayers with a frostnova, which could be followed by a blizzard after they refill the board, to crush their hopes & dreams of winning the game. Unless your are over 80% certain that they can't remove your doomsayer, it's best to keep it until you freeze their board. In the late game, an early Jaina is 90% of the time just game over for them. If you are being pressured to much and your opponent has reached out for a final push, you can alex your own face to restore half of your health.

Against control, you should try to preserve as your resources and use them as efficiently as possible, while drawing as many cards as possible. Since they can't pressure you as much as most aggressive decks, this match up should be very easy to win.
