LoE Strategy

Mulligan Guide: Chieftain Scarvash is probably one of the most challenging encounters in any of the Adventures, and there have been some tough ones. Be prepared to restart several times and don't expect to win on your first try. He has a huge advantage by starting with a Burly Rockjaw Trogg and Stonesplinter Trogg already on the board. Along with his swapping Hero Powers Trogg Hate Minions! and Trogg Hate Spells! it's extremely difficult to get rid of them or keep any of your own minions alive. The only thing you can hope for is to delay him long enough that you can establish your side of the board or he will kill you within 4-5 turns or less. You must absolutely draw a two-drop minion (it doesn't matter which one) to start or you will certainly die. The ideal opening hand has a Potion of Madness and Duskbreaker in it.

I've playtested this deck a LOT to get to the finished version. A lot of people complained that my original deck didn't have Doomsayer in it. I tested to include this card and found that it's absolutely terrible. 9 times out of 10 Scarvash will just kill it immediately, usually with Confuse, which makes his minions even larger and sets your clock to about 3 turns. It's a bad idea and it doesn't work. I opted for other small minions that would be annoying enough for him to kill, but would still survive getting their Attack/Health flipped.

I look at this encounter as two phases: Getting rid of the initial Trogg wave, then establishing my own board. He has a ton of removal and direct damage, so you always feel like you're fighting from behind. There is also nothing more frustrating than finally getting the board and having him use a Keeper of Uldaman on your largest minion. It's almost as bad as him charging into your face then hitting you with back-to-back Crackle. He also nearly always rolls high, so his Fireguard Destroyer and Crackle are usually maxed out.

Don't let your guard down if you make it past the initial wave, because he can quickly come back and take over the game. It usuallly goes back and forth for awhile, so be prepared to settle in for some longer games. Good luck!

LoE Deck Notes

The most important cards in this deck are Potion of Madness and Duskbreaker. Beyond that, you can make substitutions if you absolutely have to. I would look at other minions with Taunt and make sure you don't diminish your Dragon presence too much or it will affect your ability to use Duskbreaker in crucial moments.
