My first deck submission here. This is the deck I used to defeat The Lich King in the single player mode.
The Lich King's effect on Shaman is turning all minions in your hand and deck into 1/1s.
The deck's goal is to buff Lightwarden with Healing Rain and give it Windfury to swing for 50 damage. Since the Lich King has 60 health total (30 health + 30 armor) you'll need some extra 10 damage, which you can obtain with Flametongue Totem and/or in the early game with minion summoned by Devilsaur Egg, etc. Make sure you take at least 12 damage before you use Healing Rain, in order to maximize the buffs on Lightwarden. That's where Stormforged Axe comes in, to trade with his minions in order for you to take damage.
Steps to beat The Lich King with this deck:
1 - Mulligan for Stormforged Axe and the combo pieces you'll need (Devolve, Lightwarden, Healing Rain, Windfury).
2 - In the early turns try to take enough damage to heal later but at the same time keep some control of the board. Use the draw effects to gather your combo pieces, Stonehill Defender to get some taunts (you will need one later on), Devilsaur Egg can trade and spawn a 5/5 to deal some extra damage to the Lich King early on. Volcano is a last resort if his board gets out of control.
3 - On his turn 7 he will always play Frostmourne, spawning the Souls, at the start of the turn and attack with it, even if he has minions at that time. Therefore, when you reach your turn 7 you need to have the conditions below fulfilled. If not, restart.
- Windfury, Healing Rain and Devolve in your hand.
- Lightwarden on the field. Only play her on your turn 7.
- at least one Taunt minion on the field to protect Lightwarden from the Frostmourne Swing. If necessary use Ancestral Healing or Hex on a Basic Totem or another minion you don't need. You can also use Ancestral Spirit on the Lightwarden if you don't have any taunts.
- be able to heal for 12 with Healing Rain. The best way is having taken 12 damage beforehand.
- have that 10 extra damage already dealt or be able to do so on the next turn. If you want to use Flametongue Totem to buff Lightwarden, put them on the field now.
4 - On your turn 8 use Devolve on the Trapped Souls. This way Frostmourne gets instantly removed and the Lich King loses his immunity. Pray to RNGeesus that the Devolve doesn't give him a Taunt minion. If it does, hope you have Earth Shock in your hand.
5 - Use Healing Rain and then buff Lightwarden with Windfury to swing for 50 damage.
This can take some attempts but eventually you'll get there. Good luck!
works even in 2020. took me like 5 tries
RIP rng
Incredible! After spending HOURS on the ridiculously RNG murloc and messy evolve decks, this one definitely reigns (Lich) King. Literally took me one try. I had perfect draw essentially and it was LOVELY~ Also, thank the RNG gods that there were no taunts after the devolve. :3
FYI If you have both lightwardens + at least 1 windfury (like I did), you can forget the damage you need to do beforehand. Don't concede or restart!
Didn't get anywhere close with the other decks - this one subverts most of the major annoyances that plague the other decks, i.e. obliterate and blizzard.
EDIT: See Ekluniac's changes ~ they are better value for the cards, IMO.
Thanks so much for the deck, amazing idea! +1
After failing 10 times I made the following changes and won on the 2nd try. I used all but 1 Coldlight Oracle in the winning game.
- 1 Hex, Volcano, Flametongue Totem, Ancestral Healing, Devilsaur Egg
- 2 Loot Hoarder
+ 1 Electra Stormsurge, Lava Burst (won me the game), Lava Shock
+ 2 Coldlight Oracle, Runic Egg
Made these changes myself! You are right - the runic egg is better value for the stats!
I did it first try and had 600 health remaining!1!1
Well no, I didnt. It took around 9 or 10 restarts, you just need to wait for the stars to align and its a victory. Keep restarting, everything will eventually go to plan.
on LKs turn 7 when he is going to attack with frostmourne, if you have no taunt, pop your devilsaur egg on the turn before, you can attack with it since its 1/1. He will 100% go for the 5/5 Devilsaur over your little light warden every time. Keep at it.

Should start the post out with "ONLY play lightwarden on turn 7" bc I got too excited and played her on the first turn without finishing the entire post bc I was gonna follow step by step. However I got really lucky and I managed to draw another one before turn 7. Also managed to get all necessary cards before turn 7. This deck does require a lot of luck but it does work really well.
I would say that Devilsaur Egg. isnt a requirement. I didn't have one so I used Scarab Egg and those 1/1 scarabs helped in getting that extra 10 damage needed.
I got lucky and got the win on my first try, thanks! Fun combo to play
Thanks for this list. Seems easier than Murloc Shaman. Even if you don't get *all* the combo pieces in your hand in the beginning; you can still draw enough to have all the pieces by turn 7. Took 20 tries though.
Thanks a bunch, actually got it this way!
It took a good amount of resets, but finally got it. Also you should replace Devilsaur Egg with Coldlight Oracle.
You will never get to pull off the combo with this little card draw.
first try xD
tY
Finaly after 100+ tries i beat him at turn 8 got my windfury wasn't enough got him to 5 health at next turn i summoned my al akir i got from stonehill defender
I was previously trying to make the murloc Shaman Lich King deck work but I don't have Murloc Warleaders and didn't want to craft them so I tried to find another way. After a lot of searching I came across your deck. Like BattleCat27 I don't have Devolve and used Mossy Horror to clear the Trapped Souls. I have Electra Stormsurge so I threw her in. After a few attempts I managed to stick two Lightwardens onto an empty board, play Electra followed by Healing Rain with my hero at 8 health and smacked the Lich King in the face with two 45 attack Lightwardens - very satisfying!!! This was the final class I needed to beat the Lich King with so I now have my Arthas. Thanks for posting this awesome Lightwarden combo deck!
Took me 53 tries to get the combo and rng in my favor.
Thanks a lot, without murlocs as a begginer shaman looked unbeatable. But now only warrior is left to complete
Thank you for the list! I was tired of seeing only Murlocs list (I don't have any epic Murloc so it was not an option for me), then I decided to try this deck and worked on first try. I got very lucky though, I had both Lightwardens to play on Turn 7, with all the combo pieces in hand. I could also use Ancestral Healing on a Devilsaur Egg this turn to force Lich King to attack it, then he gave me a 5/5 that killed the only taunt he got from Devolve. Shaman was the only class missing so I finally got my Arthas! Thanks again.
I only saw murloc lists. This is AMAZING! Every time I tried I was close to win and also misplayed once. And after 10 restarts I have done it! Such a cool deck! Thanks man :)
Consider playing the runic egg (same as loot hoarder but 1 mana less) nice combo tho
I didn't have that card at that time, because it was adventure exclusive, but it's definitely a better fit that Loot Hoarder (since all minions are 1/1s anyway).
What I like about this deck is it's easy to reset until you get your combo pieces. Just like the guide says. Get those combo pieces by turn 7 and you're good to go.
I did find it hard to to the 10 damage to the Lich King before the combo, and I added more card draw so it's easier to draw the combo. I removed Ancestral Healing, Earth Shock, Ancestral Spirit and Hex. Then added Coldlight Oracle for the draw, and Lava Burst + Jade Lightning for the face damage.
Great deck though! Thanks for your guide as well :)
Thank you!
I like those suggestions. I didn't remember Coldlight Oracle for the extra draw and adding damaging spells seems like a good idea. Glad it did work out for you. :)
