Early Baku Taunt Build. Changes will happen when more cards get released from the Witchwood expansion.
In 2 turns you get 8 health. If they giant up, reckless fury. If the Barnes, kept on tanking up.
One interesting aspect of the deck: you've gone in hard on the armor synergy (double shield slam, double reckless flurry) with only shield block for card-based armor generation, accounting for the upgraded hero power. In other words Baku = less need for armor from cards = more deck space to do other things.
So youre making a deck when only 3% of the set has been revealed so far?! talk about Jumping the shark.
Actually "Jumping the Shark" comes from television when they would air over the top promotions to increase ratings during sweeps week. So the real question is...how are your Nielsen ratings Americano_Boss? lol
If you ask me Baku the Mooneater will be more of a standard card, since in wild you have so many good tools and all kinds of support already, that I don't think, that's worth risking consistency over an upgraded hero power. + You can always add Justicar Trueheart, if you really need to.
Once again - that's my opinion for WILD. In standard however I think Baku is really great and I also see Taunt Warrior showing up. The real question is - if and what the replacements for the good removal tools (Execute, Slam, Blood Razor) will turn out to be.
But imho you are sacrificing more cards that way.
It's true, that you have to find and to play Trueheart, but replacing one bad stated card with another doesn't sound that worth to me. I personally prefer to have Executes, Slams, Sleep with the Fishes/Revenge, maybe Primordial Drakes from The Curator, Battle Rages and on curve taunts and only having to sacrifice one card slot, in order to keep them, than an early upgraded HP with less flexible options against big minions/flooded boards.
If warrior is going to get strong removals, at least a one, which will replace Execute in one way or another, then I will take my words back and I will admit, that Baku is also good in wild. Until then, I rest my case.
But you are forgetting two things - 1) aggro decks have a smoother curve, since they are playing cheap minions; 2) at one moment Patches is going to leave the deck and thus it thins it, unlike Baku who will stay there and will be drawn eventually.
Some explanation regarding the first point - Like I said, aggro decks run cheap stuff. So the chances of them continuing the threat, is still high against control decks, even if they draw Patches. Back in MSOG I lost several times to PW, who drew that pesky little pirate, just because I couldn't find my AoEs on time. And this is what I'm trying to say - it's another story, when you are playing defensively and you are trying to find your board clears early on. Drawing a useless expensive body will just leave you in a worse position. And not to mention, that people always tried to have a pirate in their hand, so that they will increase the chances of dodging his draw. Patches could be at the top of their deck, but that wouldn't matter, because they are pulling him out anyway. Baku however will stay and you WILL draw him eventually.
Now back to your comment about drawing and finding Trueheart - I don't disagree, that always having a reliable HP from the start is a really big deal. Warrior will endure some damage, until he finds the tools he needs to regain the control over the board. That's why I also think, that Baku would be great in many standard decks, including Taunt warrior. My issue, is that you are also sacrificing a lot of removals and draws (Battle Rage, Slam) and you are only left with Shield Slam, Reckless Flurry and Brawl, which is acceptable in standard, but imho avoidable in wild, since Justicar Trueheart is there to help you anyway. I mean - wouldn't you want to have more ways to deal with flooded boards or with big minions? I have never played CW, but I think, that keeping the board in check is a lot more crucial than having big chunks of armour, but to be on a countdown. Because if you don't answer the threats on time, the opponent's minions will easily overcome your armour bubble.
Uuu, that's rough. You can't tech in a Skulking Geist in your deck, since that's an even number. But if jade dudu is a rare MU, then you kinda have to accept the defeat. Dunno about Warlock - I want to see the new set, before I express my opinion.
I also predict the same. The first expansions of every Hearthstone year ALWAYS introduce power-house cards. I'm not pessimistic about the fate of Warrior, because I also think, that the devs have acknowledged that and will do something about it. Time will tell what they have stored for us.
Actually I think the same, in standard it's probably good, but in wild unless it gets something really amazing, it won't be better than your other control warrior lists, and I agree it has to compete with really broken stuff and boku is actually quite fair.
And about boku as a minion, I think he is just a price to pay for the consistency of his effect, no other card in the game gives you a clear advantage "permanent" since turn 1 over other decks (Prince Malchezaar is a disadvantage :P) and tank up has proven itself being VERY VERY strong, I actually played with it and against it dozen or even hundred of times I know how strong Tank Up! is. Think that everyone that dissmiss/underestimate boku or grenn is either new or doesn't actively plays the game, I believe decks can function with the following 2 draw backs
1) having a "dead card" in the deck. - patches, or just a drawing a high cost card, probably such decks will need to have card draw options to mitigate this problem.
2) having a restriction on mana cost of the cards you play. - aggro can function well see: keleseth. control can handle themselves with similar limitations- see reno decks.
specially when the cards are guaranteed to have support within the set, and We can already almost build functional decks with them with the current card pool of standard post rotation.
I dont see much potential for Baku in Taunt warrior but I really like Phantom Militia in Quest warrior. More ways to finish the quest early are great.
And what is the point exactly here? So you will play a weird variant of a Quest warrior ... to get an upgraded hero power ... which you will change? Wow, ok. Mind. Blown :)
I think it makes plenty of sense. Keep Tank Up! as long as you need it to buy time and synergize with your removal, then switch when the time is right.
