Win Condition: Out-pace your opponent in the late game with multiple big turns and big minions, while throwing face damage throughout the early game.
This deck has a ~70% winrate between Rank 15-10.
Combo's to utilize -
Tundra Rhino + Emerald Spellstone: 10 mana / 14 damage. Fully upgraded spellstone and tundra can surprise an opponent for an impressive 12 damage and 5 bodies.
Play dead + Deathrattle minions: Cards like Silver Vanguard and Kathrena Winterwisp can make for some incredibly threatening combos. Playing Kathrena will summon one of Devilsaur/Highmane/Rhino and playing Play Dead on Kathrena will pull you another (Pulling Rhino + Highmane is so satisfying, especially cause the Hyena's will charge if the Highmane dies).
Play Dead on Vanguard will pull Kathrena/Lich King/Devilsaur. Oozeling is a fun addition as you can sometimes cheat out these cards much earlier in the game.
Inexpensive substitutes
Violet Wurm <> Charged Devilsaur/Lich King - This swap still allows you to pull an 8 mana minion, which also happens to be a Beast AND have a nice Deathrattle effect, so it fits perfectly in substitution.
Secrets <> Cat trick/Venomstrike trap - The secrets included in this deck specifically help with board control, either by spawning minions for you or removing enemy minions. Cat trick and Venomstrike are ok substitutes, but not perfect.
Rexxar <> 2nd Freezing trap - There wasn't room for 2 Freezing traps, but if you dont have Rexxar, it's the next choice for sure because of the Spellstones and Secretkeepers.
Mulligans
Keep - Secrets, Secretkeeper, Flanking Strike, Stonehill Defender & Animal Companion.
Stonehill Defender is a very nice card to have, especially against Aggro decks. Zoolock, Murlocs and Mid-range Paladin will give you a lot of problems early, so being smart with your Mulligans against Warlock & Paladin is important.
Mulligan - Play Dead, Tundra Rhino and all 6+ mana cards.
The win condition is trying to cheat out the higher cards with good synergies, which all occur towards the late game. Keeping Play Dead and Tundra wont do anything for your early game and will see you lose to Aggro decks very quickly.
Tremendously fun deck :-)
I made a quick video:
Just watched the video! I loved it!
Glad you enjoyed playing with it. The combos you can pull off are stupidly fun. It's funny to me how nobody expects the Spellstone - Tundra combo, but it sets up a 14 Charge damage turn!
Keep making videos!
Nobody expects the combos :-) If you make any more interesting decks that are competitive, I would love to play them!
The deck looking good, but your starting hand is so important to win game . And it can be really hard against aggro deck especially paladin , and i want to add acidic swamp ooze but swap with who ?
I will definitely give it a try. What i like about this deck is that there is no card rotating out at the start of the next year. Thank you for this.
Seriously? No Nzoth? Id take out one of the silver vanguards for nzoth
I've been trying to get a seeping oozeling deck working for a while now. I think it's going to be more plausible if hunter gets some much needed love with this next set. I've done the secret package, a prince keleseth and a spell focused pyro package. I just don't think it's there yet. I will give this a shot tho. My decks tend to be a little too greedy
It's very important with this deck to be patient. Often times you wont have a minion on the board till turn 4. Dont mulligan any cards that cost 4 or less. Flanking Strike can be your best friend in the opening hand, just pump out Hero Powers and hold onto Secrets until they'll have an effect, as there isnt a ton of synergy with Secretkeeper or Spellstone.
Also, this deck has a far better winrate when you dont have coin, but when you do, save it until turn 5/6 to get Highmane/Vanguard early.
I really really want to like these Big style hunter decks as they are fun. But unfortunately your list seems about the same as others I've tried. Dead by turn 7 against dude/murlock pally and temp mage, and outlasted in the end by cubelock/control warlock, combo dragon priest, and jades. Basically everything you hit from RK10 to legend. Really the only purchase this deck consistently gets imo is against mage control. Which I'll admit is very satisfying against freeze.
IDK, i think big hunter needs some form of Cube to easier take advantage and trigger the trap. But then you gotta lose oozeling. Just as always, this whole hunter deathrattle theme seems just one great card short from being actually viable in ranked. I wish you luck though.
You should try out my deck. I got to rank 4 with it after playtesting for days. About 60% win rate before rank 5.
