Come in and Warm your Frozen Boots by the Fire!
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Gunnolf, and I am originally from the Land Down Under a.k.a. Australia. I am an avid gamer that has acquired a real passion for card games, which originated from my humble beginnings as a Yu-Gi-Oh collector and eventually grew from my dabbling in Cardfight Vanguard and Buddyfight, until we reached the game we know as Hearthstone.
I've played Hearthstone since the days of classic, with multiple accounts on both EU and NA servers. Despite having reached the Rank of Legend and my own personal mentality of equating 'having fun' with 'winning', I am not really a fan of meta power-grinding & net-decking, not that there is anything wrong with that. Therefore, I enjoy thinking about new, cool and fun deck ideas that push boundaries while also allowing you to win and those are what I want to share with you guys every-time I post a decklist.
I have presently become a contributing writer to WILDHS and will be posting articles there on a semi-regular basis, regarding deck-archetypes the status of the meta as well as how to get the most fun out of this game even if you aren't a big spender. If any of this sounds interesting, then I highly recommend that you check out of the website, as the writers and the owner himself are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet with great in-game knowledge (link to be website can be found HERE). You can also follow me on Twitter for latest updates.
If you genuinely like my content and would like to see me produce more of it, then please consider supporting me on Patreon. This is by no means necessary but it will definitely help me out in the long run. Thanks for Reading ^^
Deck Introduction
Hello wilders and welcome back. Today I have an interesting deck for you. Given the recent explosion in popularity of the Malygos Druid archetype, I thought we could revisit its old competition, namely C'Thun Druid. For the longest time these two decks would compete over the top spot. However, given that the latter cannot run the Oaken Summons package and as a result is generally slower, it seems to have officially been cast aside as a competitive option. Nonetheless, it still continues to be viable with the addition of new cards and since everyone owns C'Thun it is a much cheaper deck to craft.
The Combo
C'Thun Druid is known for its immense amount of burst potential. Typically, even 100 health has traditionally not been enough to withstand the combo itself. Just a 10/10 C'Thun is capable of dealing 60 damage with the right combination. With the decklist at hand it is possible to deal a whopping absolute maximum 204 damage (although it is very unlikely to ever get that high in an actual game). There is also the potential to push the damage even higher if you include a Youthful Brewmaster as well.
The combo works as follows: Aviana -> Kun the Forgotten King -> Brann Bronzebeard -> C'Thun -> Zola the Gorgon (on C'Thun) -> C'Thun x2. It should be noted for the sake of inclusion, that buffing your C'thun with the included c'thun buffing minions is paramount to the damage output potential of the final combo.
Card Choices & Deck-Building Explained
In this section, I will explain some of the card choices I opted for and the reasoning as to why they were included over potential counter-parts.
a) Zola the Gorgon: It's a two in one Youthful Brewmaster card with Brann Bronzebeard that also allows you to create a bigger board with multiple C'Thuns.
b) Innervate: This slot used to be taken up by Arcane Tyrant. However, because of the nerf to Aviana, this card is now mandatory to pull off the combo. The primary function of being hand-dumping card can be used for 1/2 but the latter is just a combo piece now.
(At the present time, only a few cards have been listed but I will include more if questions pop-up within the comments section regarding substitutions and why other cards were included.)
Free to Play (F2P) Inclusion Options
Not everyone may have Zola the Gorgon and as such, I thought it would be prudent to suggest some alternate options that are considerably cheaper. Do keep in mind that while these alterations do make the deck weaker, it can still function appropriately.
-1x Zola the Gorgon & -1x Poison Seeds / +2x Youthful Brewmaster
Furthermore to the above, it is also possible to cut a single Ultimate Infestation for the sake of including a Coldlight Oracle. During your combo turn, if you still haven't drawn your C'Thun or Zola the Gorgon, the card can act as a 1 mana draw 4 cards engine. Just something to consider.
Note: That if you want to be even greedier with your damage output, you can run x1 Youthful Brewmaster over the second Poison Seeds.
Thoroughbred OTK Build
With the Witchwood expansion you can potentially build the deck with a lot fewer minions and just aim to go for a quicker OTK strategy. You lose A LOT of damage in the process but the deck is faster and technically more consistent. To pull off this OTK you remove the majority of the C'thun Buffers and just stick with Dark Arakkoa while inserting more removal and draw options. In the end, the deck looks like this:
-2x Beckoner of Evil | +2x Lesser Jasper Spellstone
-2x Disciple of C'Thun | +2x Ferocious Howl
-2x Arcane Tyrant | +2x Witchwood Piper
-1x Poison Seeds | +1x Hemet, Jungle Hunter
(On a final note, Hemet is entirely optional and not really needed to be honest. But other than that, this is the alternate way to build the list. Enjoy! ^^)
Want to Get to Legend?
As stated above, while C'thun Combo Druid might not be the best for ascending the ladder in your attempt to get to Legend, its sibling Malygos OTK Druid more than definitely is. So if you have the cards to try it out, then jump on the hype train and combo yourself all the way to those golden ranks.

Author's Notes
I enjoy deck-building a multitude of interesting decks that are both entertaining and Legend viable (with some odd Free-to-Play lists mixed in). So if you like this deck (or anyone of my other ones) consider leaving a thumbs up, as it really helps in the long run! :)
Thank you guys for all your support and if you have any suggestions, let me know.
i have the same problem but sadly the deck loses a lot of power, cause the fact that u can dish out incredible amounts of damage across the board and enemy face wins u games that otherwise wouldnt. Just lost some games in a row cause this is Wild and the amount of value and greedy decks out there is so crazy that poison seeds and swipe wont get u far even the arcane tyrants wont help u much. u need to kill ur opponent regardless of the board state and thats where brann and zola come in. u play Cthun multiple times while dealing 2 times its dmg per summon. wipe the board with that and proceed to kill opponent. But then again i was playing rank 20 and a lot of ppl dont run meta decks there, only the most possible ultra slow valuable decks with so many threats that u cant dodge them all.
Hi mate !
OK as u said this deck losses it's power If u don't have brann, but actually if u play wild, brann is a must have, for Zola she reduces
The combo pieces by one which is great, for me If I don't have those guys , i will craft them definitely .
Can i switch Zola for brew master? Dont have brann can i put in an Alexstrasza or Malygos?
In the deck guide I have said that you can replace Zola the Gorgon with Youthful Brewmaster. However, since you lose some damage as in you only get to play 2 C'Thun I recommend playing two brewmasters.
Unfortunately, Malygos and Alexstrasza don't fit into the deck as this deck was meant specifically to utilise the free legendary from WoTOG.
For the two dragons, try using this! ^^
Got it thanks bro. After reading the full guide i got a bigger picture of all the options and alternatives. UI often turns out a dead card. I even tried running a maly druid without it. Never thought about Alex and maly together. Thanks great decks u run
Yeah the second Ultimate infestation is dead 9.5/10 but you just run two for draw consistency. If only they would nerf the card to draw 4 would be Godlike in Maly Druid haha!
My friend Gunnolf .
This deck is just one of the most funniest decks I have ever tried .
And I have won so many games with it.
So thanks alot for making that deck Friend.
You are very welcome mate. Thanks for playing and make sure to keep on shredding your opponent's to pieces! ;)
Yeah such a pleasure feel when u play cthun and just shooting your opponent face with that machine gun. XD
Playing this deck when control warriors were a thing was really hilarious. 30 health + 70 armor was barely ever enough to survive the full combo :D
Yeah Also Druid Can't Survive that combo
16/16 Cthun Is enough to deal 96 damage Which Is Hilarious.
I am experimenting with Loatheb now. I cut one poison seeds for him. Basically if the opponent doesn't have deathwing you can't lose :D
Heyo! I have a question about this deck relating to the upcoming Naga Sea Witch nerf: could the Poison Seeds be subbed out for Ferocious Howl?
The second copy for sure but in all honestly poison seeds is just a good card in general against aggro and control I am keeping one copy across all decks! ^^
But for the second slot Ferocious Howl would work :)
Hey, my friend Gunnolf!
The OTK Combo with C'thun is about Fun and Enjoyable, I tried it in Legend Rank with many warlocks and that was successful.
Hey there. Glad it worked for you at legend, specially against warlocks! ^^
Ah, lovely, I like the Zola the Gorgon addition, I totally didn't consider the fact that she added two C'Thuns to your hand! Sadly, I do not own her, so I'll definitely try out the double Brewmasters instead. I also really like the Arcane Tyrant inclusion, goes well with Ultimate Infestation in certain cases and can be played on Nourish turns. Very nice list!
Thank you! ^^
Although, the Malygos variant may be more consistent watching multiple C'Thuns shoot all their eyes is just entertaining as all hell! :D
What about Twin Emperor Vek'lor?
That's a good question. I tried to fit him in but honestly he just gets so utterly outclassed by Spreading Plague and Malfurion the Pestilent. That being said you can always sub him in for those other cards! ^^
