Hi guys! So I recently created this Steal Priest deck just for fun, and I ended up finding a TON of success with it. After a bit of tweaking, I found myself climbing to rank 5 early in the season with a winrate over 60%. Its a blast to play and works like a charm.
Asmodai took this deck from rank 200 to 17 legend as well!
Edit: Hit rank 6 legend!!!

Edit- I just hit legend with it on 2/10/18 and I climbed from bottom of rank 2 to legend with a 10-2 record!
Edit: Rank 6!
Matchups
Cubelock/Control Lock- Control Lock is one of the easiest matchups if not the easiest. My winrate against it is well over 80%. Once you steal both of their Voidlord, you basically win the game. They can't resummon anything with their Bloodreaver Gul'dan and N'zoth the corrupter. Here are the main ways to steal a Voidlord:
-Twilight Acolyte/Pint-Size Potion + Cabal Shadow Priest
-Twilight Acolyte/Pint-Size Potion + Potion of Madness + Shadow word pain (or some card that kills the minion on your side. I have even used a stolen Carnivorous Cube or Dark Pact to do so :D)
Cubelock is harder to beat due to Mountain Giant and Doomguard. For this matchup, you need to be smart and steal the right minions depending on the current situation. Use your resources wisely.
Aggro Decks- This deck seems to beat aggro decks most of the time, thanks to Duskbreaker and the Pint-Size Potion + Shadow Word: Horror combo. Potion of Madness can also be very handy. Don't be afraid to steal 2 attack or less minions or play Twilight Acolyte for board. You just need to play defensively to win.
Tempo Mage- Tempo mage seems to be one of the harder matchups, but you are still slightly favored. If they play Aluneth early it is incredibly hard to win. Be careful of burn and try to minimize the face damage you take early game as much as you can. Their chip damage just gets you closer to burn range. Once you gain board and stabilize it becomes easy to win as long as your health is not too low.
Combo Dragon Priest- I actually usually win this matchup. Use your resources wisely and try to remove any high health minions they have. Stealing a high health Twilight Drake has always been huge for me. From that point, I have board and I can am usually able to continue removing his minions while developing my own. Its easy to win this way because their deck is so reliant on having minions on board.
Spiteful Priest- This matchup is really easy thanks to the fact that their only spells are Mind Control and Free From Amber. the pint-size horror combo and stealing their dragons seem to work really well against them. As with Combo Dragon Priest, once you gain board it is very easy to win. It is incredibly hard for them to clear your board and you can just develop minions while removing theirs.
KiwiiNBacon made a really cool showcase video, check it out here!
Hope you enjoy the deck! Mulligan Guide in progress
I played a little bit and I don't think it is really needed.
In some cases it helps you against aggro, if you are simply missing the correct answers to get board control and I had it twice as a finisher.
I think you can replace it by Ysera or a second Curious Glimmerroot for example
I thought he wasnt needed but ive taken people down with Alex multiple times and beat aggro by healing with it
One thing I think is very important in this deck is keeping any dragon that you get in Mulligan. The Duskbreakers and the Acolytes lose their potency without one and can often end up as dead cards. Earlier Dragon-centric priests (from old metas) I believe ran a higher quota of Dragons, which increased the chances of getting one.
great deck from 7 to 5 8-0 thx!
I've tried this deck for 3 matches on 7th rank vs Secret mage, Spiteful priest and Miracle rogue won all three. As soon I havent got second Twilight Acolite (and I didnt want to craft it before the test) I've changed it with Twilight Drake.
So I wanna say Thank u for rly nice and intresting deck.
This deck just loses to secrets mage, which is every other deck on the ladder right now. Any way to tech in something to fight back? Any room for secrets eater maybe?
Also, the matchup against Warnock is not as easy as the write-up makes it sound. If you can't steal both a voidlord and Rin, you lose.
Try using 1 greater healing and 1 feast priest. I don't think deck is as strong as it's made sound in description, but when you tech properly it's same as any other deck on ladder. As for secret mage match, if they get early aluneth it's always hard to win unless you already have board and/or weapon removal.
Whats a good replacment for alextraza?
any idea of wild version?
Really fun deck! Currently 10-2 in ranked and went from 9 to 7
What is the point of steal priest? Steal minions? People come in here thinking that it's a double Thoughtsteal double Devour Mind double Psionic Probe double Mind Vision deck. It's a great deck, but I think it's a misnomer.
U have a better name?
You could still call it the same:
TOP 50 LEGEND
ThoughtSteal Priest!Looks good but for me loses to zoo locks. And not good if you don't hold a dragon. I'm going to get used to this deck in Casual.
Edit: Got a few.
I saw this type of deck also with Ysera(it works pretty well) and i think you should try to replace Alex with this card
In theory, yes. But I have faced many mages control with geist and even so I have always been favorable in the game and I ended up winning.
Control Mage is usually an auto loss in general. The other deck that commonly uses geist is control lock, and I usually shadow visions for Mind controls and still win
It's not an auto loss.
This deck looks good, but I'm getting my ass kicked. I crafted all the cards I needed for it, so it's not that I'm missing key pieces.
:(
ughh I can only craft one of the legendries for this deck...
