Hi guys! So I recently created this Steal Priest deck just for fun, and I ended up finding a TON of success with it. After a bit of tweaking, I found myself climbing to rank 5 early in the season with a winrate over 60%. Its a blast to play and works like a charm.
Asmodai took this deck from rank 200 to 17 legend as well!
Edit: Hit rank 6 legend!!!

Edit- I just hit legend with it on 2/10/18 and I climbed from bottom of rank 2 to legend with a 10-2 record!
Edit: Rank 6!
Matchups
Cubelock/Control Lock- Control Lock is one of the easiest matchups if not the easiest. My winrate against it is well over 80%. Once you steal both of their Voidlord, you basically win the game. They can't resummon anything with their Bloodreaver Gul'dan and N'zoth the corrupter. Here are the main ways to steal a Voidlord:
-Twilight Acolyte/Pint-Size Potion + Cabal Shadow Priest
-Twilight Acolyte/Pint-Size Potion + Potion of Madness + Shadow word pain (or some card that kills the minion on your side. I have even used a stolen Carnivorous Cube or Dark Pact to do so :D)
Cubelock is harder to beat due to Mountain Giant and Doomguard. For this matchup, you need to be smart and steal the right minions depending on the current situation. Use your resources wisely.
Aggro Decks- This deck seems to beat aggro decks most of the time, thanks to Duskbreaker and the Pint-Size Potion + Shadow Word: Horror combo. Potion of Madness can also be very handy. Don't be afraid to steal 2 attack or less minions or play Twilight Acolyte for board. You just need to play defensively to win.
Tempo Mage- Tempo mage seems to be one of the harder matchups, but you are still slightly favored. If they play Aluneth early it is incredibly hard to win. Be careful of burn and try to minimize the face damage you take early game as much as you can. Their chip damage just gets you closer to burn range. Once you gain board and stabilize it becomes easy to win as long as your health is not too low.
Combo Dragon Priest- I actually usually win this matchup. Use your resources wisely and try to remove any high health minions they have. Stealing a high health Twilight Drake has always been huge for me. From that point, I have board and I can am usually able to continue removing his minions while developing my own. Its easy to win this way because their deck is so reliant on having minions on board.
Spiteful Priest- This matchup is really easy thanks to the fact that their only spells are Mind Control and Free From Amber. the pint-size horror combo and stealing their dragons seem to work really well against them. As with Combo Dragon Priest, once you gain board it is very easy to win. It is incredibly hard for them to clear your board and you can just develop minions while removing theirs.
KiwiiNBacon made a really cool showcase video, check it out here!
Hope you enjoy the deck! Mulligan Guide in progress
The decklist looks amazing! I think i'll craft it, but i need some suggestions: can i cut alex? the reason i ask is that i can't craft what i miss and that (it's a legg.) Anduin is needed? Can i replace alex?
Waiting for the mulligan guide <3
ALex is not needed, you can add any other good dragon
Thanks man! The light shall bring victory today!
Deck is getting weaker at legend rank as the meta is changing. I reached legend #46 2 days ago but losing quite a few now. Warlock and Priest are used to it and expect the steal. Paladin is still easy (any type), Mage is favorable as well.
I just hit legend with the deck, but with a Shadow Word: Death and a Book Wyrm over the two Priest of the Feast. Stats 88-52 which gives 62,85% winrate. Fun deck!
Hey guys!
I just hitted legend with a really similar list of this deck so I thought I could share my last boss with you guys since I think it really shows how to play these control matchups - there is a game versus control shammy which imo is not that bad right now so if you want check it out! In the description you can find decklist I was using :) Hopefully you can enjoy the video and learn something as well :)
Very cool deck, i just reached legend #500 with it. Winrate is 64%, was at 70% yesterday. but you can't beat Kingsbane and Otk priest. Big priest is also quite hard to beat. I replaced Mind control by a dragon fire potion as there is a lot of paly rank 1-2. Easy win against Warlock (it s quite fun to end up with N Zoth and 6 Void) and Paladin. Mage is quite tough (47% win), one good truck is to start buffing a cleric or Neophite as they will try to take it out. Geist is no issue and actually help to draw higher value cards against priest.
Thanks for sharing
Call me crazy, but I'm gonna try putting Madam Goya into the deck for more steal shenanigans. Stealing a minion via Pint-Size Potion or even Shadow Madness and then swapping it into your own deck for (hopefully) a better minion sounds too fun to pass up. Swapped out Alexstrasza for Ysera for that highroll chance of Goya pulling out Ysera.
I threw in some Novice Engineers to make people think I'm combo priest >:)
you are such a trickster ;P
i got to rank 5 without it, dont even have shadowreaper anduin, and still winning loads
Pro player right here bois :D
hahaha thanks :P
I'm enjoying this deck, playing at 17-15, but it gets destroyed by Kingsbane Rogue every time. Any ideas on how to counter it? I've tried using Acidic Swamp Ooze and then removing the +2 weapon buff pirates in a combo...slows them for a while, but the mill cards are killing me.
Yea, kingsbane rogue is an unfavored matchup, I have only won a couple of times. You have to tempo them out and try to make them get low value from their vanishes
Love it. Definitely one of my favorites! Thank you!
I'm 8-3 against secret mage and 9-0 against all warlock types in the past 2 days (24-13 overall, 65% winrate from rank 15-10). In my experience the hardest matches are jade/big druid, kingsbane rogue, and big hunter. But these decks are few and far between (that being said I did play a stretch of 7 games where 6 of those games were against those decks which was garbage). 50% of my matches are warlock and mage.
Do I think Alexstrasza is necessary? Probably not but it IS an extra dragon and this deck is already slim on them. So removing her gets rid of a chunk of your synergy. She's also won me many games by allowing me to burst down my opponent with my board or by allowing me to survive pyroblasts from secrets mage so I can kill them next turn. There are probably other cards you can use but Alexstrasza is definitely a good fit for this deck.
Do I think Shadowreaper Anduin is necessary? Less necessary then Alexstrasza. The only time I've ever cleared a board with him is against mages, and if you're making it to turn 8 against a secrets mage you're already in decent shape - but by playing him you're also killing your healing which is really important in that matchup. I don't know what I would swap for him but I don't think it's an essential card for this deck.
You have no shadow word pain and you have a lot of cheap spells. Anduin is great for board clears, armor, and pinging the other side. I'd say it's a core card even though I've only used it a hand full of times.
Nah i replaced with Glimmeroot and worked fine...maybe by rank 5 youll need Anduin but until there you should be fine
Is Alexstrasza really needed ?
