CRAFTING GUIDE:
The cards that i consider must have to play this deck are:
Sleep with the Fishes This card is very good and very important to deal with Aggro-Midrange decks since Warrior doesn't have many board clears. It's hard to replace with something else.
Shield Slam Very good synergy with the armor cards and also very important removal. There are a lot of Warlocks with Mountain Giant or Midrange Priests around so this card is a must have.
Stonehill Defender Just an amazing card, you play it on turn 3 to deal with early game and take a big Taunt from it like Direhorn Hatchling, The Lich King etc etc. It produces a lot of value and even more if you get more with Dead Man's Hand
Blood Razor. It's the only good weapon Warrior has right now and it has excellent synergy with Sleep with the Fishes, Execute, King Mosh,Acolyte of Pain etc
Scourgelord Garrosh: It gives you a hero power that has a lot of synergy with the cards that were just mentioned above. The 4/3 weapon with cleave effect is also really really good.
Acolyte of Pain. It's the main draw power of Control Warrior.
Highly recommended craft: Elise the Trailblazer: Not must have but it produces a lot of value in Control decks. With Dead Man's Hand you can open 2 packs. Very hard to replace to be honest.
Replacements:
I like the deck exactly as it is (apart from tech cards of course) but if you don't have some of the cards you could try the following replacements:
Direhorn Hatchling over The Darkness.
The Lich King or Grommash Hellscream or Rotface over Geosculptor Yip.
Another Brawl over King Mosh. If you drop King Mosh you should also drop one Whirlwind
Spellbreaker (if you play alot vs Warlock) or Dirty Rat(If you play a lot vs Exodia Mage) over Skulking Geist. The only problem is that you can never win vs Jade Druid without Geist.
GENERAL TIPS:
Use your removals wisely, try to bait the most but never become full greedy. Control Warrior is all about timing of removals.
Always play Dead Man's Hand when you have value cards on your hand like Elise the Trailblazer,Geosculptor Yip and The Darkness
Try to play Geosculptor Yip when you have 8 or 9 armor because the best minions are 8/9 mana.
If you playing vs a deck that Skulking Geist won't do much and you still have Shield Slam and Whirlwind then don't play it yet. However if you don't want to topdeck one of these cards then you can play it to get rid of them.
MULLIGAN GUIDE:
Keep Acolyte of Pain,Blood Razor,Stonehill Defender vs ALL decks.
vs DRUID : Also keep Sleep with the Fishes because it could be Aggro and keep Skulking Geist.
vs HUNTER: Also keep Armorsmith,Sleep with the Fishes,Ravaging Ghoul and Brawl
vs MAGE Also keep Armorsmith
vs PALADIN Most likely gonna be Aggro so also keep Armorsmith, Whirlwind,Sleep with the Fishes, Ravaging Ghoul and Brawl
vs PRIEST Also keep Execute, Sleep with the Fishes
vs SHAMAN Also keep Sleep with the Fishes, Ravaging GhoulBrawl. Since all of them are Evolve Shaman i also really like to keep Skulking Geist
vs ROGUE Most of them now are Mill Kingsbane Rogues so i wound't keep the antiaggro cards. Keep The Darkness
vs WARLOCK Also keep Execute. A very important keep to be able to deal with that early Mountain Giant. And also keep Spellbreaker if you teched him in.
vs WARRIOR Keep just the basic.
TIPS VS DECKS
Against AGGRO DRUID always save Sleep with the Fishes and Brawl for Living Mana
Against SECRET HUNTER save Sleep with the Fishes for Lesser Emerald Spellstone
Against TEMPO MAGE If they play Aluneth. Just play as defensively as you can because they will lose by Fatigue.
EXODIA MAGE is a really bad match-up, if you start to see many of them you have to tech in 2 Dirty Rat
Against AGGRO PALADIN Play as much as possible around Divine Favor
Against SPITEFUL PRIEST NEVER EVER play The Darkness before they play both Mind Control
Against COMBO PRIEST Try to clear every single minion they play to play around Divine Spirit Inner Fire. Skulking Geist is also great in this matchup.
Against MILL ROGUE The Darkness is great in this matchup since Sap and Vanish don't really deal with it. Also get big taunts from Stonehill Defender
Against CUBELOCK You must use your removals wisely. If they get Voidlord it's not a big threat and you could bait more before you remove it but you MUST remove Doomguard immidiately. Also play Skulking Geist after shield slams.
Against CONTROL RIN LOCK If they get an early Rin, the First Disciple out you are in trouble but what you could do is keep the Dead Man's Hand if you have it until they play Azari, the Devourer and put some cards back in the deck.
This doesn't work. All you do is control the board while waiting for Yip, who is the only win condition. It doesn't even hold well against aggro.
Did anyone have succes with this deck?
So i dont have King Mosh, so i take Brawl and i sould drop 1 whirlwind. But what i can take instead of whirlwind?
Mb undef.shield?
have everything except for mosh and DK. Heard a lot of replacement ideas for mosh but will the deck work without scourgelord?
Have you thought of Captain Greenskin to give Shadowmourne extra power? or in case you don't want to activate the Deathrattle on a Blood Razor. I have all the cards for this list, but I'm always experimenting.
A fantastically fun deck. atm Just missing king mosh, who I have replaced with a second brawl. Considering swapping for baron, since the body can be important too.
How does The Darkness do in this deck? I would assume against aggro / tempo it's dead card but every control opponent will have answer for it when it finally awakens. I opened it from packs so I really hope it fit in some deck.
With a bit of luck The Darkness can win the game for you but my feelings about it have been really mixed thus far. I have had games against heavy aggro decks like Aluneth mages in which they grinded through their entire decks and the last two cards ended up being candles, so I actually never had it awakened. At rank 15 I no longer run into a lot of Raza the Chained priests so the anti-Kazakus aspect of it feels negligible. The card works quite well against Kingsbane rogues because of their insane draw potential, but then again they always have means of disposing of it, whether that be via Sap or Vanish. I am really enjoying the deck overall and am definitely going to give The Darkness some more time to redeem itself.
It also kinda counters decks that run big spells a little. I have it in my control warrior deck as well. Alexstrasza also adds an 'Execute Hero' combo if they're are no taunts in the way.
the only card I dont have is mosh, would deathwing be a good replacement?
i think control warrior's cards are too important to discard
Great but what is a good replacement for Skulking Geist? I end up not ever needing or using him.
You must be new. Everyone knows that rigged caches prevent you from playing Jade Druid if you are using Geist. If you remove him, coding will match you with Jade Druids only until you put him back in your deck.
Why only one Dead Man's Hand?
The deck is not trying to go inifinte with it.
I like the concept. Going to give it a shot. Thanks!
It's obvious what OP is gonna say to this, craft the death knight and replace King Mosh for a Brawl
i substituted darkness for Grom , not bad!
I have the whole deck except both sleep with the fishes, which card could replace it?
I think Rotface could fit in this deck really well, because of all the 'whirlwind' effects you got in the deck. Rotface is then a win-condition. I'm a fan of warrior myself, I speak of large experience with rotface :)
