Hey guys, I am back with another deck guide, this time we will take a closer look at Cubelock! This deck has been around in some version for a long time, I definitely don’t want to take credit for creating it from scratch. However, I want to go deeper into my own version, why do I play it this way and explain you how to mulligan or utilize some combos with this deck.

General

You stall the game with multiple board clears against aggro, get your Voidlord to play as soon as possible, healing out of their burst range in the process if your life total goes too low. And then BOOM, you just slam a huge [card]Bloodreaver Gul'dan[/card] and the game basically wins itself from that point.

Against control it takes a bit more than that, but fast Mountain Giant really helps in this department, as it can win the game on its own.

Guide

We have some all-starts here, where Skull of the Man’ari is just great no matter what you play against, and Possesed Lackey is also great against everything, except something like Priest. Once you get to live the dream and draw the weapon, you want to keep the Voidlord as well.

Aggro deck will try to go fast and furious against you, so you need to protect your life total with all the cheap cards you can get. Mistress of MixturesKobold Librarian and Defile are great. Mortal Coil is also nice against most aggressive decks, and I won’t say no to Hellfire.

Against Control you really want to see that Mountain Giant, so feel free to mulligan hard for this guy.

Selection

You have a lot of great defensive tools to work with, Defile can act as a 2 mana Twisting Nether when played with correctly, and Lesser Amethyst Spellstone is an amazing card when upgraded just once, and you can do more than that thanks to four enablers in a form of Kobold Librarian and Hellfire.

Mountain Giant deserves a special paragraph on his own, he is a real game changer in some matchups. It is often correct to do nothing when you have him in your opening hand, so you just go Hero power+Hero power and play him on turn 4. If your opponent cannot answer it immediately, you can actually just copy this Giant with Faceless Manipulator and at this point roll over your opponent. This is very similar to my previous version of Warlock, which was similar to Handlock from the old times.

The real difference is with the new combo package, especially with addition of Doomguard, which makes Skull of the Man’ari an extremely good card, as it goes around the drawback of discarding two cards. You sometimes pay the price when you need to cheat out Voidlord into play against aggro, but Doomguard gives you a ton of burst damage and allows you to switch your gameplan against some decks. Prince Taldaram is great with both of these demons, and it has a very nice interaction with my all time favorite [card]Bloodreaver Gul'dan[/card], as Prince becomes a very realistic copy of Doomguard, allowing Guldan to bring one more of these bad boys back.

I get a lot of questions about playing just one Carnivorous Cube, but I feel like with Mountain Giant in the deck Faceless Manipulator is just better, and you don’t want to overload on 5drops, so here we are.

And that’s it for now guys, if you get lucky you can catch me playing this deck on Twitch, as I need to get to TOP10 Legend this month and this deck is perfect for climbing.

Cheers
