Hey guys, my name's Vinotan and I am a legend ranked player from EU.
Since the highest voted deck on hearthpwn atm is a recruit shaman (http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1022138-new-archetype-recruit-control-shaman) and I am playing a similar but yet very different version of recruit shaman, I wanted to quickly give you my decklist and some quick reasoning.
If you guys are interested, let me know and I will write a detailed guide.
1. most importantly, I include Master Oakheart! I think it fits the deck really well and compliments the whole recruit idea. Therefore I also have included Al'akir, Tar Creeper and the 5 mana 2/7 freeze taunt (instead of drakkari defender). This results in a 3/5, 2/7, 3/5 charge-windfury-divineshield taunt wall worth 16 mana plus the free 5/5. Just hope you dont draw guild recruiter for the 2attack slot.
2. I include evolve and unstable evolution as we have multiple good evolve targets (oakheart, alakir, guild recruiter, bonemare, corridor creeper, thing from below). the DK might be good as well but I dont have him
3. cheesy OTK: On lower ranks, I included the 1 mana 1/2 that gets 2 attack (Lightwarden) when something is healed. I know this sounds crazy but hear me out: you pull it with oakheart, it is protected behind a big taunt wall. next turn you play healing rain, which actually buffs this little guy 12 times and you hit your opponent for 25 dmg. it works surprisingly often, is super fun and you dont have to change a whole lot of the deck (just 1 card).
4. I dont include drakkari defender as it is just too bad if drawn
5. I dont include earth elemental and therefore no spellstone
6. I dont include the full jade package, only claws, but it might be a good inclusion, I admit that
7. I dont include ancestral spirit as there are too many silences around
8. Instead I use bonemare (because OP), volcano (nice boardwipe), 2nd healing rain (sustain and used to heal my big guys if damaged)
This deck is very fun to play (especially with the lightwarden OTK) and surprisingly effective, even though the lightwarden strategy is no longer viable above rank 10-5.
Let me know what you think and, again, if some of you guys are interested I can write a detailed guide, just let me know.
Cheers
Replacement for Corridor Creeper?
im using thrall deathseer and dirty rat, they re not as good, but still pretty good:D
This deck is so fun! I'm sorry if you've ready answered this, but what about mulligans?
that of course depends on the opponent. usually corridor creeper, guild recruiter, tar creeper and jade claws are good. vs wlock you want hex. vs aggro you want maelstrom portal and maybe even heal
Thanks so much!
I don't know...what's the point to play a 9 mana minion to recruit Al'Akir the Windlord?
Al'Akir the Windlord, A Two Attack Minion and A one attack minion and A 5/5
ok, but with 9 mana, his mana cost is 8
i don't know if it's a good deal at turn 9
as redshed already said: instead of just al'akir for 8 mana you get alakir and 3 other minions (5-5, ideally 3-5taunt and 2-7 taunt) for 9 mana. That means 27 stats worth for only 1 additional mana. Thats value :P
mmmmm ok
now I only need Al'Akir the Windlord LUL
Not as good as grabbing a Voidlord like those decks right at KC's launch, but a 5/5, 3/5 Windfury Divine Shield Taunt Charge, a Lightwarden (part of otk combo) or a tar creeper (just good) and either a voodoo hexer good or a guild recruiter. Thats quite a bit of stats
Hm, I'm not saying it's trash. but something doesn't work in this deck.
Or probably deck is not suitable for current meta. Most of the time you won't last long enough to see Oakheart in action.
+ for trying make Shaman relevant. Rank 15 from 13 with only one win. (EU)
Is Far sight replaceable? Bc i'm missing that, volcano and Oakheart, and while im willing to craft the other two, I don't see many decks which run Far Sight.
Well Malygos Shaman in wild makes excellent use of the card, along with a fair number of recruit shamans running it so it isn't too bad too craft if you play a lot of Shaman. Unfortunately Shaman's draw is very limited, so your replacements are limited. Acolyte of Pain is much better with 2 volcano but should still get the job done. Mana tide totem is worse since it probably cycles and dies, but at least it eats damage and powers TFB.
I dont think farsight is crucial in this deck, its more of a deckfiller. the problem is that we dont want to include mana tide or acolyte as it reduces the chance of us to recruit our free 7-7. one acolyte might be okay as it can also be drawn by oakmaster. however, I dont find myself lacking in carddraw
I just realized that Oakheart can recruit Al'akir :D
That other recruit shaman with the high votes is absolute garbage. All of the comments are negative. Dunno how it got so many positive votes with barely any positive comments. I'll try yours now.
Unfortunately this deck isn't "viable" at all. Poor board clear against aggro decks, and it's waaay to slow for control decks (like cube/control warlock). Sadly there's no place for shaman in the current meta.
Have you tried it out though?
Against aggro you have maelstrom portal, volcano, lot of taunts and sustain with healing rain.
Cube warlock is actually a pretty good matchup due to Hex.
Bruh
I give 1+ cos I have never seen any shaman decks other than evolve shaman.
Good decks tho.
