How well does this deck fare against cubelock?
I've been playing Big Spell Mage for awhile and while it is amazing against aggro, I've been losing to cubelock 90% of the time. :(
чет хуита, сыграл 12 игр:
5 против куб локов - не пробить все таунты как не старайся
4 против друидов - 60 армора, джейды 12-12
3 против паладинов - К ОРУЖИЮ!

What is Zola the Gorgon's target? An Arcane Giant?
exactly.
Can someone tell me the reasons to prefer giants over fireballs?
All that a Fireball gets you is 6 damage, be it to face or board control once. Whereas with the synergies in the deck, getting the Arcane Giants down to cheap, or 0, is fairly easy. And in so doing, you get a durable 8/8 body that's reusable and either forces your opponent to expend resources to deal with it, or they keep getting wrecked.
The other reason would be the expected win condition, which goes: Open the Waygate -> 6 spells via Primordial Glyph, Cabalist's Tome and Ghastly Conjurer (+ the Coin, if you go 2nd) -> Arcane Giant x2 for free -> Time Warp -> Alexstrasza to set them to 15 -> go face with Giants x2 -> Win.
Under that plan, you don't need the Fireballs. At best they become a control piece to hold the board, or desperation damage when your plan goes wrong. At worst, you draw them when you needed a much more key piece of your win combo.
Besides what Akira said, check out "Un'goro Cheat Mage" for more historical info about this deck type. It's a pretty good deck, and I'm lookin forward to trying this version out. Don't have Zola the Gorgon, but I'm just gonna replace it with a Molten Reflection or a Simulacrum.
