~Preface~
This deck improves upon the Buff Quest Paladin introduced in Un'Goro. The deck is a ton of fun to play and actually isn't terrible. Do not make the mistake of thinking Quest Paladin is an aggro deck; it isn't! Most of the win condition cards are played earliest on turn 6 and 7. The MOST important part of the deck is to keep a minion on your side of the board alive across each turn. Without a minion on the board, the entire deck falls apart.
This deck is constantly being updated; feel free to comment or experiment!
- Recent Changes:
- Replaced Giggling Inventor with Wargear
- Replaced Skaterbot with Mecharoo: I'm a little conflicted about this change since Mecharoo messes up the dead mech pool so much.
- Replaced Giggling Inventor with Wargear
~Win Condition~
- Maintain Board Control
- You win by buffing minions and hitting face, if you have no minions you can't win.
- Do not Over-Commit
- If you are unsure on the amount of removal they have, try not to have Galvadon or Lynessa Sunsorrow on the board at the same time. You don't want all your threats dealt with at one time by Twisting Nether, Psychic Scream, or Brawl.

- Know your Match up
- Should you go face or should you trade? What are the chances they have an answer? Knowing the match up can really help your decision making.
~Cards~
Base Mechs/Minions (16)
- 2x Glow-Tron:
- 2x Mecharoo:
- 2x Upgradeable Framebot:
- 2x Bronze Gatekeeper:
- 2x Annoy-o-Module:
- 2x Mechano-Egg: This card is actually insane.
- 2x Wargear:
- 1x Zilliax:
- 1x Lynessa Sunsorrow: Play with at least Spikeridged Steed.
- BUFFS ARE APPLIED RANDOMLY (thanks blizzard)
- Adaptation is random.
- Blessing of Wisdom (especially with Windfury) can quickly mill yourself!
- Potion of Heroism draws a card, don't immediately end your turn!
- Desperate Stand will only revive a 1/1 copy of her without buffs.
- Dark Conviction or Dinosize can REDUCE her stats.
- Sound the Bells! buffs her for EVERY time you cast it.
Buffs (9)
- 2x Adaptation:
- 1x Blessing of Wisdom: Do not run more than one copy of this card. If Lynessa Sunsorrow adapts Windfury, you will mill yourself.
- 2x Sound the Bells!: 🔔🔔
- 2x Potion of Heroism:
- 2x Spikeridged Steed: 🦕🦕
Tech/Other (5)
- 1x The Last Kaleidosaur/Galvadon: Customize the adaptation to the current situation. Adapt Stealth Offensively or Untargetable defensively.
- 2x Consecration: Feel free to replace with Spellbreaker or any other Tech Card as you see fit.
- 1x Kangor's Endless Army:
- 1x Uther of the Ebon Blade: Good late game, replace as you see fit.
~Mulligan~
Mulligan for a one-mana minion and a one mana buff. Keeping a two-drop is also okay. Keeping the Quest is highly recommended, but not mandatory.
What to Keep, In Order of Importance:
- The Quest (usually)
- One or Two mana minions
- One Mana Buffs
Otherwise, mulligan everything else. This deck can snowball very fast so its important to play to its strengths and get on the board early.
~Replacements~
Notable Mentions
- Blessing of Might/Desperate Stand
- Skaterbot:
- The Voraxx: Man I love this card
- Zola the Gorgon: The problems I've had with Zola is that later in the game replaying Lynessa Sunsorrow with two Potion of Heroisms quickly mills yourself.
- Giggling Inventor:
- Sunkeeper Tarim:
The mech update to this deck is sickk. I replaced Uther with Lich King, since I didn't want to craft it and it's a solid replacement. I haven't played enough of it to think of any replacements but I'm thinking of swapping maybe an adaptation with Zola the Gorgon for that sweet value.
If magnetic updates will count for quest this deck might actually become T2 atleast.
Waiting to see interactions of quest and magnetic buffs.
Why not -1 Consecration and +1 Wild Pyromancer? Wild Pyromancer can really keep down Odd pally when combined with Sound the Bells.
it wont compete with anything below rank 10 on ladder
I would say its competitive, but, like Kaerski said, it can't really compete with Tier 1 decks. If you just want to have fun playing Hearthstone and don't really care too much about climbing the ladder then this deck can be really fun.
Do you think this deck will still run Call to Arms after the nerfs?
Good question! I really think that even at 5 mana, Call to Arms is still going to be really strong, Even though its one more mana, you still pull 3 cards you don't want to draw out of your deck and you still flood the board.
Its unfortunate that Aggro decks have forced this card to be nerfed but what are you gonna do.
Hey CHIEF_!
Just started using a more budget version of this deck based off of your decklist and it's performed pretty well! Wanted to give you some of my observations on what seems to work well and what is clunky sometimes:
The amount of games I've won with buffing Paragon of Light is staggering compared to the other creatures, and I think that comes down to the accessibility of it having a 3 mana cost on a difficult to kill body even before buffs. Very weirdly game-ending.
I also like the add of Chillblade Champion, he's useful for spot removal. That said, though, I don't think I've had him live for more than a turn or two.
Oddly enough, Primalfin Champion has been underperforming -- still not able to pinpoint why that might be.
I'm so iffy about Blessing of Might, like you also seem to be. It looks good on paper, but in the grand scheme of things that +3 attack isn't going to do much late game. However, I do use it in my budget version namely for the sole purpose of getting Paragon of Light above 2 attack for her ability early on in the match. Then again, like you said above -- this is not an aggro deck.
I, because I am budget, only own one Call to Arms. However, aside from not getting it consistently, after using it I find that there is typically no more <2 costed creatures left in my deck. This deck oddly draws a good amount of cards and you end up getting them through that. Then again, I'm sure you have x2 of them in this for the sole purpose of getting it consistently.
Spikeridged Steed is literally too good to not have. Games that I don't draw one go very poorly compared to games I do.
Sound the Bells! is fantastic late/mid/ and even early game if you get it on Primalfin Champion. His ability doesn't care if you casted an echo of it on him, he gives you a real copy of Sound the Bells! right back for each time you used it on him after he dies.
And that about sums it up! I'll edit this if I notice anything else. I'm a big fan of MTG's Bogles Archetype, and this is reminiscent of it yet also very very different. I will mention once again that I used a budget build for this, so I blew all my dust on on Lynessa Sunsorrow. I can't imagine how great/FUN the deck would be with the other Call to Arms, Faceless Manipulator, The Voraxx, and The Last Kaleidosaur quest.
Cheers!
Hey thanks for commenting! Glad you're enjoying the deck! Let me respond to each of your points.
Glad you're having fun with the deck and thanks again for commenting. Let me know if anything changes!
I know it doesn't synergize with Call to Arms, but how about running Baleful Banker as a reload mechanic? It works with potion of heroism by shuffling more cards into your deck.
Hey thanks for commenting, I think Baleful Banker is a little weak compared to other options. When you re-shuffle cards back into your deck they lose all the buffs you applied. In comparison to something like Faceless Manipulator which keeps all the buffs. Also, like you said, the negative synergy with Call to Arms could be a little problematic. Let me know how it goes if you end up trying it though!
Any plans to update this when the next rotation hits?
Thats the plan! Thankfully the deck isn't losing too much, it might take a while to see what feels good though.
Any updates on this? I would LOVE to work on a new version of it with you.
Sure, what do you have in mind?
I removed some of the legendaries I wasn't too pleased with, how does it look now?
and it just so happens that 4000 dust became available this week.
From what? Patches and what others?
This deck used to be called "CreepQuest" and had corridor creepers.
