Overview
- The Even setup allows for turn 1 Hero Power EVERY GAME.
- This translates into strong turn 2 plays like Goblin Auto-Barber, Sharkfin Fan and Bloodsail Raider.
- Or in a cheap and ready ping, for early board dominance.
- During the rest of the game, a cheap hero power means you can ping more often and yet be ready for weapon buffs and combos. That is, a whole new take at Oil Rogue.
- However, deciding when to ping and when to hold weapon for incoming buff is still very relevant, and part of the challenge of the deck.
Meta Tips
- 2 damage is good against Even Shaman's totems.
- Sap is HUGE against Big Priest and Even Shaman's Big guys.
- Ship's Cannon and Sharkfin Fan are good against Odd Paladin, You want to use all your pings (including dagger) against Recruits, while you try and rush their face with your minions, before their board becomes overwhelming.
- This deck suffers against Reno and Control decks, but you still have your fair chances to rush them down before their Reno (sometimes even after, if you can refill your hand).
- Do not overcommit your board against incoming AoE, including Druid's Spreading Plague.
- Cursed Castaway can deal with nasty taunts (Sludge Belcher, Tar Creeper) and has synergy exactly with your best finishers (Oil and Evis), and is surprisngly useful to close the game.
Options
In case the meta shifts towards a Weapon-heavy meta (Odd and Kingsbane Rogue, Odd Paladin, but also Aluneth Mage and Pirate Rogue).
- -1x Cursed Castaway, +1x Acidic Swamp Ooze
Enjoy, and please give it a +1 if you liked it!
Updates from RASTAKHAN'S RUMBLE
- Sharkfin Fan has obvious synergy in Even Rogue, and it turns out to be a key card in this deck. It offers general early board presence and additional tools against flood decks.
- Bloodsail Howler is consistent enough, if you apply some wise resource management. However, it impairs the strength of Hooktusk. Removed.
- walk the plan is useful against big early guys in Wild.
- Ticket Scalper is better than expected, since it adds a nasty threat, in the worst case. It is less consistent than Minstrel about card draw, but it is also not dependant on combo. You can consider running 1x Scalper and 1x Minstrel.
- Captain Hooktusk can be good as a last stand option, and a pseudo-card draw. The deck contains a fair number of solid Pirates that become particularly nasty with rush. If she turns out to be too slow for this deck, i'll switch back to Elven Minstrel.
- With Preparation in the deck, Cannon Barrage should be decent, at least as a one-of. Problem is that it stays inconsistent (some games it could win you the match, some others it is a dead card, or it hits the wrong targets), and i cannot find a card to replace for it. Maybe Eviscerate, but not sure.
Looking forward to the Raiding Party nerf becoming an unexpected blessing for this deck!
I also thought about it.
But in order to be useful, we should also introduce the Waggle Pick, and probably dismiss Hooktusk as well by consequence of the many Pirate draw.
But i'll test it!
is this deck good right now? which's rank you reach with this deck?
Thanks!
Unfortunately, I haven't tried it in the post-nerf meta.
I can tell you that you can play toe-to-toe with the other Tempo and Aggro decks, including Even Shaman, Odd Rogue, Kingsbane Rogue, Odd Paladin, Pirate Warrior. Unless you draw bad, you can fend off their early board with your multiple and versatile pings, and stabilize in your favour. Oh and Big Priest as well thanks to Sap.
And all that was pre-nerf.
But I have no idea of the meta right now in Wild. If it has become consistently slower, with many taunts and heals, it might be a problem for this deck, which relies mostly on burst and Tinker's Sharpsword Oil to seal the game against slower decks.
In that case, Fal'dorei Strider could be a solid tech, and replace the Southsea Squidface.
Hey, there! Nice deck!! Did you try to use Cannon Barrage ?
Thank you!
IMO, Barrage is as fun as it is is inconsistent towards vicory.
The card is powerful, but it is too conditional, not least the fact that your board is not exactly sticky.
Oil is just better.
still not dropped my hooktusk yet :(
I'm starting to wish I crafted aya now though for wild even shaman, looks like a cool deck man. I have not played shaman properly in years neither.
started playing some tempo even lock though, pretty cool deck.
you still playing this rogue, how has it been for you lately?
Aya is not necessary for Even Shaman. Replace with TLK or Fire Elemental.
Anyway, yeah, still playing this deck, not grinding, but btw, defeating Even Shaman too with it.
If you do dot have Hooktusk, you can replace with Minstrel, Shredder or TLK.
thanks. will bare this in mind. I will start crafting some of those shaman rares then and see what I can build.
this looks awesome dude. I just need to draw that new legendary (which I'd really like anyway, so may end up crafting her when I next have 1600 dust)
also wanted to break onto wild and this looks like it's a strong deck. I have played with that tinker oil before and those wild pirates when I was doing the lich king for my DK I think it was. I can imagine this deck is a blast to play as well.
+1
Thank you, sir.
Hooktusk is pretty much a safe craft, if Rogue is a main class for you.
thanks.
I wonder if this is better than this new hyper aggro Kingsbane pirate rogue with Myra’s Unstable Element and tons of weapon buffs. This one seems to be slower because of Ticket Scalper/Castaway/Hooktusk package...
This one is more Tempo oriented.
Imo, that means that this is more consistent than Aggro Kingsbane, which feels much more hit or miss.
kingsbane is probably a lot harder to pilot as well, which leaves more room for mistakes.
I have not played kingsbane before, but I've played miracle rogue and know how much it can tie you in knots trying to asses all possibilities in a single turn. kingsbane is supposed to be harder I heard, so yeah. ha ha.
Really cool deck, thx a lot bro.
Cool deck, really enjoying it so far.
I am glad what you add Hooktusk ^_^
Haha indeed better than the plank in this Tempo deck!
Same as with Hooktusk, i didn't drop the card. xD
You can probably try it in the place of Walk the Plank (indeed i am unconvinced with this card in this deck...).
