If you like the deck make sure to give it a +1 and if you have any comments about how to improve it or just because you enjoy playing it please let me know!
This Rexxar doesn't like to hunt alone and instead chose to bring his biggest and baddest friends with him! Some new cards from the expansion help the early and midgame for big hunter as well as help to promote the use of a secret package.
Wandering Monster, Flanking Strike, Lesser Emerald Spellstone are allstars here.
Wandering Monster: not only does it redirect a minion that would be attacking you, but early on this could kill their minion while keeping yours alive. Worst case scenario is Howlfiend and the one time it happened to me I still ended up winning the game.
Flanking Strike: 3 damage to a minion for 4 mana? eh not so good... but you get a 3/3 beast on top of it? Now we're talking!
Lesser Emerald Spellstone: even at its lesser form 5 mana for 6/6 worth of stats is value, but once we reach its greater form with the 12/12 of stats it's impossible not to run.
Barnes has some great options in here with Kathrena Winterwisp, Violet Wurm, Savannah Highmane, and Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound
I'm running 2 x Tracking in this deck to help with card draw as well as 1 xFlare for destroying secrets and an extra card.
Deathstalker Rexxar is here for the usual domination of the control matchups.
Mulligan Guide: You always always always keep Barnes. It seems obvious, but I can't stress enough how many games are just won from him pulling Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound or Kathrena Winterwisp.
Other cards to keep are Candleshot (against aggro), Tracking, Wandering Monster, Freezing Trap (against aggro), Animal Companion, and Cloaked Huntress. Cloaked Huntress is a good early drop even without any secrets to play and it makes it less likely to be pulled from Barnes.
12/14 update: Ran this deck for awhile last night and ended up going 13-5 with it, which was a lot better than expected. I made this more as a fun deck rather than one that could be competitive yet it still managed to get me a 72% win rate!
12/16 update: Played a little more today for a 10-1 record bringing the total to 23-6 so far for a 79% win rate. Still a small sample size, but it's doing much better than expected.
12/18 update: Ran into quite a few warlock decks this morning which is why my record isn't that great for today, but I ended up going 11-5 bringing the total to 34-11. 3 losses to warlocks, 1 to an aggro hunter that topdecked leeroy right as i stabilized, and the last was an aggro paladin that had a fast start along with me mulliganing into 2 of my big minions.
Ive found a lot more success with this deck when I sub out the cloaked huntress' for 2 copies of unleash the hounds (~30% increase in my personal winrate).
My biggest issue seems to be Highlander Priest, any changes i can make in order to make this match up more in my favour/ any tips for fighting against?
How about u remove Barnes and Y'sharrj and put King Crush and 1 more fat beast? Barnes is way too random and u dont get much from deathrattles
yeah, i tried it, and there is too much barnes into huntress or y'shaarj into huntress pulls, not worth it in my opinion...
love this deck
Any replacement for Kathrena Winterwisp ? I have all but this
Oh yeah That works well too , But i went with The Lich King.
So far So good
I love the deck but ugh... how do I deal with warlock?
Spellbreaker yo.
You enjoy getting spellbreaker from Barnes and Yshaarj?
You would need something against the Voidlord.. so a silence could work, but if you don't draw it and you play Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound you don't want to want to draw/summon a spellbreaker.. that would be a risk you have to be willing to take. If you decide to put it in your deck, just hold that card in your hand when you mulligan.
What happens if Barnes draws a 1/1Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound and then he summons The Darkness? I know he's supposed to start dormant but if he's put in to play forcefully, would he still be dormant? I have him and I was thinking of randomly adding him in, if he would just pop out with 20 attack and end the match right there, lol.
Played this deck for the memes, 11-1 so far from rank 5 to rank 3...
