Turns out if you have Wild Pyromancer and this card, casting a spell causes this card to trigger first, creating the apprentice and then getting destroyed immediately.

Wild Pyromancer reads "after"

This reads "Whenever"

Meaning that spells that buff all minion EG: Power of the Wild the minion will be summoned first then buffed then knocked down to a 2/1 by the Wild Pyromancer

Soft taunt, strong body, and very good for maintaining board control in decks like Oil Rogue. You can potentially have a boards full of 1/1 minions and trade against aggro decks easily. Also very good in a Mage format.

i use it with priest is one of my favorites 

Great in Druid, decent everywhere else. Same body as Sen'jin Shieldmasta, but instead of taunt, you get 1/1 tokens; sounds like a fair trade to me!
