Good against Jade Druid, good against evolve shaman, good against Lyra priest. Helpsa bit against quest mage. Also takes out pally secrets and Hunter's mark and removes a few cards from pirate warrior. Heck there's even some miracle rogue cards affected.
So much collateral damage to the meta just to justify Jade Druid. Silly Blizzard...
Hilarious how a single card makes a whole deck completely non-viable. Don't even have to draw it early either lmao. Not to mention its neutral so all you have to do is put this in your deck and you insta-win against jade druid.
People downvoting you, but it's true.
Just need a little 'polish'. 4 mana 2-3. If I could play this 2 turns earlier... Me happy.
"You had ONE JOB geist! ONE JOB and you FAILED!"
*Geist goes and cries in corner*
SULKING geist
Not even that good against Jade. This hurts other classes more.
Really not a fan of cards that hit a specific strategy this hard for no reason.
It feels roughly equivalent to removing all of a control deck's removal spells with Jade Idol and possibly Evolve decks.
Such decks shouldn't get a counter to a deck that counters them with huge weaknesses - Jade Idol is healthy for the meta if it is countered by aggro, which can be countered by control, which is countered by Jade.
It targets SPELLS, not MINIONS.
Since when is Jade Idol "healthy for a meta"? It makes a whole deck type (mill/fatigue) completely irrelevant, and the way it deals with control decks - by just slamming bigger and bigger VANILLA MINIONS on board until enemy runs out of removals - makes your opponent feel OFFENDED. And about being countered by aggro... let's just say that if Druid survives until turn 5 (or rather: until HE has 5 mana), his opponent might as well concede, because stabilising tools Druids got in KFT are bonkers.
But back to Skulking Geist's interaction with Jade Idol: destroying this card doesn't mean you automatically win against Jade Druid - he still can summon 9/9s and 10/10s to crush you with easily enough - but it gives you, as a control deck player, a CHANCE of beating him. It also makes his missplays punishable - having infinite Idols in deck, Druids could play into board clears, just to rebuild their army next turn. Without Jade Idols they won't be able to play badly and then win anyway because their opponent didn't kill them on turn 6...
Mill was always sort of cancerous, and practically an auto-win against decks that could spit out cards quickly.
I'm fine with it having a counter.
Control decks should run out of removals before their opponents run out of threats - losing because literally everything you played got removed until you have nothing left is the lamest way a game can go.
Generally it'd be nice if there weren't any control decks that don't have to make a real substantial investment into a late game - like Jade does. In that sense Jade is a model for what control decks should be - making some investment that comes with a time of vulnerability rather than cheesing out a win with a handful of finishers and attrition.
Absurd KFT cards are their own problem: it'd be better to just nerf them.
Skulking Geist is a massive hit to strategies to replace the deck with Jade Idols, which go from an unreliable gimmick to something that could instantly lose you the game.
Control needs to be kept in check more anyway.
I shouldn't have said quest hunter, though the points on Jade still stand.
too bad that the jade druid counter came alongside with ultimate infestation :(
draw 5 card gain 5 armor deal 5 dmg create 5-5 isnt winning any games against geist P/M ? Muhahahahaha.
Oh god I hate this card so much being an Evolve Shaman.
But...it is for the greater good. This card allows other Control Decks to compete.
I'm a big fan of control style paladins and my current deck tends to be very strong in the late game. However, it gets absolutely crushed by jade druid. Happy to say that because of this little shit my control paladin can now consistently beat that cancerous deck. It also really helps against evolve effects which I queue up into more often than you would think. So far I really dig this card.
So if you destroy at least 1 Jade Idol with this card, the biggest Jade will be 9/9.
they can make bigger jades than 9-9 with Stonehill Defender if they want. Servant of kalimos also can find jade spirit but who runs it in druid :D.
Fuck that card, I tech it in control handlock, I face a jade druid, when i'm at 15 cards left I purposely lifetap everyturn to reach it asap and it's in the last 3 cards. I die. I hate that card, doesn't even do it's job. (Sorry for the rant but I needed to do that)
On a more serious note, it's really a mediocre card, You weaken your deck only to cancel the opponent anti-fatigue. He can still crush you with tempo big jades.
Twisting Nether cleans up most of the tempo big jades. Also, if you don't draw skulking geist that's your RNG dicking you, not the card itself. You can't call a card bad just cause you didn't draw it early on.
I will cure you jade druids ... In ladder
