Seeing this makes me worry for the game’s future. They are running out of good ideas.
Nah, this actually is a poorly executed good idea. If nothing more, this card has flavor and that's pretty cool.
I think people are misunderstanding the power of this card, if only in the early game. Every single time I've played this little dinger on turn 1 or 2 on an empty board, my opponent did not kill it, either because they didn't have the removal or considered it unworthy of killing given its 0 attack. Thus, 1-mana 8 armor to begin the game. Or imagine playing two of these by turn 1 or 2 and having 16 armor. It's a generous soft taunt in my opinion, forcing opponents to use that Holy Smite or Arcane Shot early on or give their opponent 8/16 armor at the start of the game.
Now of course, playing this past the first couple of turns is not doable. But given Hearthstone's strangely untrue random system, you often get 1-cost minions in your opening hand.
In the right hands, this card has a lot of potential. Think about comboing this with Ancestral Spirit
Missed opportunity. I think this card would be pretty cool if instead of 8 armor, it could grant something random.
Potential effects (all would still destroy the minion at the start of your turn):
Give your hero +3 attack this turn
Restore 2 health to all friendly characters
Give your friendly minions +1 attack
Gain 6 armor (down from 8 in this case)
Draw a card
Give a minion in your hand +2/+2
Add a coin to your hand
If the objective is to gain the 8 armor or soak up (in most cases) 2-3 damage then hate to tell yah but this is basically Iron Hide or Goldshire Footman with a condition so this is very VERY bad. You lose so much tempo if you play this against aggro and this just pretty much does fuck all against control decks.
I know this may seem like an unnecessary analysis but I just wanted this to be known to the many players I've seen say this card is good. The only saving grace this card has is some nice dust.
People see the rarity and expect a good card. It is the only reason I can fathom for anyone to say this is anywhere close to good.
If this were common, almost no one would misjudge its power (inversely to the many commons that become misjudged sleepers).
When people see an epic or a legendary they are usually tempted to see its potential even if there is none, because it draws their attention more. This is no different than Harbinger Celestia: Expensive filler for some poor sods who will open it instead of real epics.
I'm genuinely confused about why they printed this card.
If it wasn't so unlikely to go off, a 1 mana heal 8 would see play :\. Maybe if there wasn't so many infinite value generators we would see an armour fatigue warrior run this.
So basically this is useful on turn 1 and that's it.
why not deathrattle, since it is a offering?
buff to Maelstrom Portal haHAA
More like a nerf to be honest
Why is this epic? If you open it in a pack, you just get 100 dust and sadness.
Guys, guys, you don't get it... This isn't filler. This is a much needed buff to Gravelsnout Knight.
Doomsayer is just better, it threatens the board, and if dealt with it's a heal 7.
This doesn't threaten the board in any way and is WAY easier to kill. This is only good on turn one verses an aggro deck as a control deck in every other scenario this is just bad.
i think this is gonna comboed with doomsayer at some decks. play gurubashi offering first then doomsayer. boom. now you have board threat and get 8 armor threat.
With one or two more health, Gurubashi Offering could be a pretty convincing anti-aggro tech card. As such, it may be hard to stick this to the board, so the effective healing will often be "1 mana heal 2" rather than "1 mana heal 8."
This has to be one of the worst arena cards ever
It will be pretty awful to actually open this...
