HS Replay data suggests that it's still showing up in Tempo Mage decks, but to your point, I haven't seen very many Mages of any sort on ladder lately. I guess my point is more that Vex Crow was good enough to see play in a meta where Tempo Mage worked, so I think this could see similar levels of play.
When I wanted to see more Spell Damage synergy for Hearthstone, this wasn't what I had in mind. May be useful in certain decks but as it stands a few extra 2-4 cost minions might be nice but easily taken care of.

Malygos(was there for one turn)+BM Thanos+thisx2 = 4 lich kings
Summon two random Doomsayers (oh god, please have Spell Damage so it summons something different).
Well since this is a spell, that means you can play Sorcerer's Apprentice on 2 and then this on turn 3 if it survives. That's a whole lotta power for 3 mana.
Playing this turn 6 with Bloodmage Thalnos could be really fun
I think it is a template mistake to include vital information about what a card does in parentheses.
"Summon two random 2-cost minions. This spell is improved by spell damage."
The text of the spell is not complete without the additional text. It's a huge deviation from how spells and spell damage usually work. This may seem like a silly complaint, but information in parentheses should clarify or remind, not add additional abilities or functions to a card.
All that said, I think this is a really cool card!
looks can be deceiving. remember when everyone said Chillwind Yeti was going to be better than Piloted Shredder?
2 x Kobold Geomancer + Ancient Mage + Unexpected Results = 6/9 worth of stats and a pair of 6 drops.
But with Kobolds and mage you will have only 4 free slots on board
Spell Damage increase the cost of the summoned minions, not the number of summoned minions, since cost is the digit.

Malygos? More like literally any cheep spell damage minion. Very comparable to Call to Arms, and if your card is comparable to that, then you're doing fine. Keep an eye out for broken support cards.

Oh, I wasn't responding to you, just making a general statement about how Malygos probably isn't the best way to use this card. Sorry if I accidentally did ping you in some way with that lol.
For 13 mana. Might as well kill em instead.
More Spell Damage = higher cost minions (3-Cost/4-Cost/5-Cost etc.)
