What about Book of Specters?
Good luck finding good rush or lifesteal minions in mage. (It won't draw you elementals in dk mage, its not part of the cards text).
The only problem is that it's very slow and you need to concider of that's worth putting into a mage deck, you may also already draw your Rush, Deathrattle, and Lifesteal cards by the time you get the combo.
Oh... Oh.. okay everything i said that was bad about book of specters i guess i have to take back now because this card literally balances it out perfectly and works hand in hand with one another, powerful card. though this card might be so powerful that you might be able to just throw it into any Mage deck, turn 5 you get a better druids nourish drawing 4 cards and getting a 2/2 body that has to be removed.
or with the book of specters it's 6 cards for 4 mana.
this card with leyline manipulator and book of spectors in mech mage could be sweet
I think you answered your question there. Both are a bit too perfect, atleast Archmage is, not sure about the book.
These cards are trash. Mage wins games with spells (or mana wyrms). The majority of the arsenal of mage is geared towards powerful spell cards. On the off chance you actually draw a high value card like mana wyrm while Armages is on board and get an extra copy of it, that is awesome. Chances are a 2/2 will die well before that and you get to over pay for it in advance.
Discarding spells is as UN-mage as it gets, I implore the Hearthstone team to actually play WoW as a mage to understand the class.
The Archmage Arugal fight is one of the best early fights in WoW, and man is he a powerful spell caster. Any on his attacks could have sourced an amazing spell card (or effect on the minion card), but they completely botched the flavor by trying to shove elemental/minion mage down our throats.
Disappointing, Blizzard:(
Why the fuck would the devs ever print a good legendary for zoo? That deck has been fairly good in almost every meta hearthstone has ever had.
For that exact reason, they would brake zoo and the meta would only consist of warlock decks nothing else, think a bit, they are trying to keep the game fun and competitive not mindless monkey "me go face" every game
FTFY:
Year of the Raven: "You want to play a spell? We want to play minions. Fuck you!"
Mage is dead, the spell casting class I loved in WoW is so far from the minion/elemental mage Blizzard is trying to push, think I'm going to switch to MTG Arena so I can actually get some spell casting satisfaction. This is why I play mage!
Babbling Book was in the year of the Kraken. ONIK
I think this wont be played until next expansion. Just experience tells me this
More expensive but Chromaggus can do it better XD
No Spell/Low spell mage! Me likey!
the effect is beyond crazy and the mana cost is just 2. It is a good card, i think. The only problem is to find deck where it fits. Archmage Arugal + Book of Specters + drawing Mountain Giant is pretty insane.
Way way better Chromaggus, this will definetly see play.
I'm gonna go with Meta Defining in the hopes that they also put some really good mage minions in this deck to push minion mage more. The problem is mages don't have access to cheap minion based board clears
Did the design team forget what makes the WoW classes each worth playing? I started playing hearthstone last summer and Karazhan felt so satisfying for mage, it embodied everything I loved about that class in WoW (Babbling Book was my favorite card for a while, and it was a minion!). Even last expo was decent with the new secret and cards that synergize with spells like arcane artificer. I understand Blizzard wanting to switch the meta game up, so I ask, why not be more creative with spells? It seems like random characters from the WoW universe are simply being "fit to the expo theme" (Worgens/minions/shitty mage cards), but shouldn't the origin and theme of the actual character be as important. In what world does Arugal duplicate minions and not provide a powerful damage/disable spell effect? Certainly not the World of Warcraft, so in what world does the Hearthstone universe live? Starcraft would never produce a Zerg unit that did not look, feel, and play like a Zerg unit should - and Starcarft has an equally if not more diverse meta game. This zoo-mage-lock is a strange bastardization of the class I love and is not consistent with Blizzard's own universe and lineage.
When Brode talks about making a card for Jaraxxus, it fit the theme perfectly, lined up with the WoW lore, and made an awesome and memorable card that still sees play today. Arugual, while and interesting card overall, fits neither the class nor WoW theme. It's simpy fits the expos needs. I think more considerate creativity here could have gone a long way.
Besides having an amazing art, this card is actually pretty important for Warcraft lore. He is the one that brought worgens to Azeroth back from Emerald Dream.
I wish Blizz had created more lore-rich cards like this instead of Blackhowl Gunspire
This card will be a key player in Spiteful-Mage (Pyro and Flamestrike) until that card is nerfed.
