Charged Devilsaur somehow got even more fun to theorycraft with.
I saw this card and went "meh" at it when it was first revealed, and I thought that would be the general agreement on the card, guess I was wrong.
Anyway, the biggest issue with this card is that it's slow and clunky. On the turn you play it, it's a sometimes better sometimes worse Houndmaster, which is a pretty decent card. The rest of the card though is what makes this card feel underwhelming to me though. Shuffling cards into your deck does not do much unless you actually draw those cards. The reason why cards that have shuffled things into your deck or your opponents deck in the past is because they are just too slow and unreliable to actually work. Cards like The Darkness, Beneath the Grounds, and even The Marsh Queen all suffered from this inconsistency. Given that Hunter has very little actual card draw, with the only non-cycling ones being Tol'vir Warden and Tracking(not really card draw, but gets the job done), this card often enough won't have it's 2nd effect come into play a lot unless you are playing a slow list.
While I do think that a control/slower hunter is possible, I don't feel like this card is going to fit unless some actual card draw is created for hunter. If it does, yeah this card is going to be strong as it has a strong effect, gives you lots of value, and has a fucking grizzly bear mauling something. There is a lot to love about this card, but it would be more playable if it was for literally any other class (even if you keep the beast tag) as they actually have a way to get the value out of this card.
I find Dire Frenzy is amazing in Quest Hunter. I know nobody really plays that, but I think the card almost single-handily makes the deck work. You can stick it on a Stonetusk Boar to get mid-sized chargers that help complete the quest, on Tundra Rhinos to ensure you have a very good chance of giving your raptors charge, multiple Queen Carnassas, or even just on a raptor to keep up the stream of raptors. They're like Faldorei Striders---it only really works if you have some fairly heavy draw/cycle, but when they work, they work well.
Keep in mind, you really only need to draw one of these sup'ed up beasts for the card to be decent.
I crafted The Marsh Queen back when Ungoro launched, then disenchanted it cos it sucked.
I am now regretting my decision...
I did the same.
I'm not regretting that tho. I love this card, I love everything about it.
But I doubt it will save The Marsh Queen
as a hunter player
I AM HAPPY AS FUCK
This!
Tundra Rhino + 3 4/4 Young Dragonhawk for 26 dmg or Tundra Rhino + 3 4/4 Timber Wolf for 23 dmg.
Mill Hunter? Finally!!!
Will the +3/+3 be applied to minions that are resummoned from echo?
Nope, they give OG card, like echo of medivh.
My mill hunter only grows stronger....
Best card in the expansion?
Finally something that makes my golden Angry Chicken playable! 5/5
don't you mean 4/4
Or 9/3
Oh yes! Buffing minions and getting them back in phenomenal. Heck, play your cards right and you could get buffed Zombeasts back in the deck for late game, very cool.
A charging 7/7 flappy bird is so nutty. Dreadscale/Bloatbat and poisonous minion is madness, but 3 of those? Ho mai gawd
Engage brainstorming mode...
Raptor Patriarch
Stonetusk Boar
Cave Hydra
Tundra Rhino
Angry Chicken
Young Dragonhawk
Ravasaur Runt/Pterrordax Hatchling (Adaptations tend to work better on big minions)
Ironbeak Owl
Stoneskin Basilisk
Stegodon
Shimmering Courser
Corridor Creeper
Volcanosaur
Honorable mention: Kathrena Winterwisp (recruit the buffed beasts!)
N.v.m still find it strage that echo cards give an orginal copy and not a buffed copy. Maby the wording on the card needs to change
only the first mastiff is a 5/4, the rest are 2/1. echo doesnt keep the in hand buffs.
