For anyone who think that it’s just a “4-mana 2/2 weapon”, note that it has Lifesteal.
You can buff the weapon with Deadly Poison for more healing and also you can buff it’s durability, not so easy though. You can compare it with Kingsbane + Leeching Poison but you need to draw both cards (you can draw weapon with Cavern Shinyfinder but not the spell). With this you don’t need the second card but you need somehow to buff it’s durability. And that’s the problem! Essentially, you need to build the whole deck around this card… well, as for Kingsbane.
Even with more steal synergy, 2 attack just isn't worth investing into. Especially on a class that has a subpar weapon at its disposal all game already.
Put this in PRIEST on the other hand!
EDIT: I forgot about its potential synergy with Deadly Poison. Plus we still haven't seen the new rogue legendary. Still its hard to imagine that card not being more useful in Kingsbane
Healing for Rogues: Good.
Lots of copy cards leaving standard: Bad.
Conclusion: ...Eh. I wish Copy Thief was a better and bigger deck. Maybe we get a few more cards in this expansion to support it but probably not.
Ben "we made this card to be bad" Brode
Great card for Wild mode. In standard it might not become a thing, however cards that help Kingsbane rogue might also support Thief one. Who knows, maybe there will be a deck that will make this work.
Not very good so far, as most of the synergy is rotating out of standard. Will need a bit of help and probably a few more expansions before this will see play in anything but wild.
okay so... we get this after we lose all the burgling cards? blizzard... get your crap together. this is gonna be a dead card in this Xpac and will probably just hit wild, even in wild this card would probably be trash, woulda been great if it was released with shaku
also to add why the hell is this costed at 4 mana when it only gives lift steal and +1 to swings per other class cards played.. why isn't it 4 mana 2/2 Liftsteal, gain +1 attack +1 durability for each OTHER class card played. then this would and might actually see play even with the very small amount of card stealing/copying effects but not longer than the first few weeks of the expansion
Healing for Rogue? The future is now!
Rogue is losing quite a few of their steal cards in the rotation (Undercity Huckster, Shaku, the Collector and Swashburglar) so I don't know if this will be much good in standard. Unless they release more steal cards in this expansion.
Should be pretty good in wild though.
I'm happy they released this card now instead of before though, otherwise Burgle Rogue could have been a Tier 2 deck at worse.
If this was "add +1 durability after you steal a card from your opponent" it would somewhat be playable, but Ethereal Peddler is leaving standard so investing 4 mana into a 2/2 weapon will really hurt on top of that you cant reduce the stolen cards and one of the best stealling cards Swashburglar is also leaving so I don't see this being playable, maybe in the future with weapon cost reduction cards.
Well... at least more burgle stuff might be coming.
Honestly, I don't see this weapon working. If Rogue had got Priest levels of stealing, then this probably still wouldn't be a worthwhile card. But they didn't, and I think that makes this card far worse.
Although, we haven't seen the full reveal yet. Perhaps Rogue gets loads of broken thief support this expansion, and this card still isn't very good. RIP in peace.
This card isn't very good. If Rogues had access to Truesilver Champion then they would not play it, or at least won't be the skeleton because single-target removal is the least of their concerns. In order for this card to be playable it needs to be strictly better than Truesilver. A 2/4 weapon is worse than a 4/2 weapon in most cases since 4/2 is faster and tempo is especially huge for rogue, but for the sake of argument let's say a 2/4 weapon is around a 4/2 weapon. You would need to play 3 cards from another class, which is kind of hard to do with Undercity Hukster and Swashburgular getting rotated out, to make this at least contend for a spot. That is far too specific and does not fit the Rogue's gameplan, which is use cheap, efficient removal to survive the early game and reach a win condition in the late game. A new archtype with weapon buffs could pop up, but then you are asking the question "why aren't you just playing Kingsbane Rogue?"
Looks like I'm gonna be using Witch's Cauldron after all
Who else is gonna play a ton of thief rogue?
