Yet another terrible card people are hyped about
Why do you think this card is terrible?
Because it actually does nothing. You have to spend 2 mana and it doesn't affect the board, don't draw, it just don't help you in any way. All it does is help you win fatigue games, which honestly don't even happen these days. Like, even control x control rarely goes to fatigue. Not to say it's literally useless against anything but control and again it's only usefull if the game goes to fatigue for both players, which again, don't really happen these days. And even against fatigue you're probably better runing Prince Malchezar, at least it's a 5 mana 5/6 instead of a 2 mana do nothing. And when a card is worse than Prince Malchezar you know how bad it is...
This card is actually a combo card.
It's not that it "Does nothing", it's that the something it does requires a specific hand and deck state to trigger, ala empty deck, both deadman's in hand and Arcane Giants with maybe a singleton draw like Shield Block. And while this may sound like a herculean task, I'd like to remind you that at one point, "OTK Worgen" was in fact a moderately successful deck, and it's whole shtick was drawing into your combo before your opponent could kill you with very little in terms of stall (you basically banked on wild pyro with emperor thaurissan hand tics and armor smith to clear away any board states that started to look scary all while healing to full in the process).
The deck that could come out of this IMO will very closely resemble miracle rogue actually, but may prove to be a bit better at survival given that warrior, unlike rogue, does in fact have sustain in the form of armor generation. And while they may not have access to gadgetzan auctioneer, remember that battle rage and acolyte of pain combined makes warrior one of the strongest classes out there in terms of deck digging, we just don't see it that much because Pirate doesn't really need it and Fatigue doesn't want to dig through their own deck for obvious reasons.
WHAT THE ACTUAL F!@#!!!
This card is stupid powerful. Especially if you have 2 of these in your hand...good lord the power of this card is insane. It's not even limited to control decks...
So control vs control, ResidentSleeper ?
does it shuffle itself into your deck as well????
If you have another one in your hand, yes. Infinite loop of dead man's hand D:
Urgh. I figured they'd have learned from Jade Idol to not print cards that just mean you can never fatigue. Really sucks.
It give Warriors the option to play once again the fatigue game (something Jade Idol took away from them)
You're still unlikely to be able to play the fatigue game against Jade Druid though. You would need to have the perfect set of cards to Dead Man's Hand, likely including at least one card that draws more cards, because Druid is making a 15/15 or higher two turns out of three. Then you need to be able to actually win the game rather than just deal with their instant-death minions, because even if you have parity and full control, the game eventually hits the turn limit and it's a draw.
I think turn limit is like 100 or something. you could never go infinite b/c turn limit would end game in a draw. It's been done many times before by youtube channels testing hearthstone stuff.
So....2copies of this in your hand...near fatigue= Never die. Control warrior just got alot stronger.
C'Thun warrior?
I honestly hope so. C'Thun warrior was really interesting.
C'Thun warrior is really good right now with Hemet. Adding these fatigue tools in place of the Hemet style will probably be even better.
This is a great card if control decks are common in the ladder, but it's really fucking lame design. I have 2k+ wins with Control Warrior, needless to say I like the fatigue game, but this card makes the mirror matchup a god damn chore. It's just going to be armor up and play conservately until you can play Dead Man's Hand to clone your other copy of it and all your best cards (N'Zoth, Elise, Ysera etc.). Resource management and balancing greed is the entire fun to these games, but if this card ends up being run (which it might) it adds another element of rng and obligatory waiting for the perfect hand.
Though, unless the meta becomes dominated by control decks, you probably won't run two of these. Thus, if there are a lot of aggressive decks, you'd probably not run it at all.
Never been a fan of the fatigue control game, I was actually glad that Jade druid discourages that kind of control deck. I'd rather play against a freeze mage...
This is a great card, but I don't know how viable a fatigue warrior is when Jade Druid is still a thing. If we see a couple new control cards in warrior (i.e. cards to kill of boards full of giant minions that can be easily replaced), then this could become one of the most dangerous cards in the entire new set.
Another Jade Idol-esque card, you just don't play it till you have the 2nd one in your hand. I don't like it. Completly destroys the resource manament aspect of the game in control vs. control matches, imo.
