I can see this being a linchpin of a Grindy Elemental Fatigue/Freeze mage. Elementals have a lot of freeze effects as it is, and with this card can now combo that all along side health gen off of stuff like Baron Geddon and Blaze Caller for maximum stall.
Hero Power is likely going to be Jaraxus-esque, ala "2-mana: Summon a Water Elemental". At least, that's my guess anyway.
I am sure people have already mentioned how her appearance doesn't really fit, but I am just going to add that the biggest thing that makes me skeptical is that she looks relatively alive. Pale and creepy sure, but the art in the videos and all that literally had some characters (including Jaina) with holes in their skin and stuff like that. None of which is shown here.
depends on the hero power
I hope it's fake. 9 Mana seems too late to be played
TO EVERYONE WHO IS WONDERING: The legitimacy of this card HAS NOT BEEN CONFIRMED. However, the chances aren't necessarily slim. It isn't likely someone would go out of their way creating new artwork specifically for a fake card and nothing else. And to all who say that "It's not real because it uses new art," neither did Rexxar. Or ANY of the new cards. The Art in the trailers is usually unused for actual cards.
I think the problem with the art is that Jaina doesn't seem as corrupted as in the video. She doesn't have the blue-glowing eyes or the purple hair, which were the most important things of the character (I believe). Also, the art doesn't look very Hearthstone-ish.
EDIT: watching the video again, I realised Jaina is holding Frostmourne with her left hand, while in this art she has it in her right hand. For me it looks pretty fake, at least the picture (don't know about the text)
@Curry2732
Don't really understand the logic here. If the art was fake, wouldn't the person that made it go out of their way to make sure it looked exactly like Jaina did in the trailer? I know I would if I wanted to waste my time on that lol.
So to me, the fact that the card art isn't 100% like it was in the trailer actually gives it more legitimacy.
The effect makes sense too. It's pushing the new Lifesteal mechanic and has frost death knight flavour. It also pushes a fringe archtype that emerged from the last set in elemental mage, and pushes Pyros, mage's last class legendary.
The hero power is also probably going to be: summon a Water Elemental, which justifies the 9 mana cost, so it seems well designed too.
Seems pretty legit to me.
My point is that she doesn't seem like the same character. It could be an old picture or fanart, I really don't know.
The text could be right. Hours before Un'Goro was announced, the Priest Quest reward was leaked, having the effect right but the art wasn't correct.
It will. As of right now this was through a leak, so information is up in the air. We'll have to wait for the card reveals to start to see what her hero power will be.
Has this been confirmed?
Nope. The art looks pretty fake to me. Looks nothing like what we've seen so far.
I like the fact they're pushing different archetypes. Maybe the Warrior will have "No one can play any taunts or pirates". A guy can always dream.
Edit: Does seem too slow to be playable, though. If you're playing against aggro, you need lifesteal much earlier, if you aren't aggro yourself. If you are playing aggro yourself, turn 9 is also way too slow to be useful.
The return of aggro mech warrior
Very interesting concept. Are they trying to push Elemental mage with this expansion?
Hopefully, that would be something interesting to see for once, unlike Freeze Mage. Freeze Mage is anything but fun.
Jaina has taken Freeze Mage a little too far this time, I think.
need!
