Give me back ragnaros on the 8 mana slot. :(
This is perhaps the most overdesigned card I have seen yet in hearthstone. The flexibility of a discover card is contradicted by the random nature of it's casting, but the worse part is the 8 mana with a horrible body. This would have been better as a spell for 5 mana with no body.
Playabke
PRAISE IT!
This card is getting a lot of flack, and it's absolutely true that it isn't good in most classes. However, it has a lot of potential in Control Mage, simply due to the large number of spells that solely benefit you in the card text. Some notable examples: Flamestrike, Blizzard, Frost Nova, Arcane Intellect, Cabalist's Tome, Greater Arcane Missiles, and all the secrets. In Wild you also have Echo of Medivh, which would give you another copy of this guy in addition to copies of all other minions you have on board.
Being able to discover a spell of any mana cost makes this guy significantly better than Servant of Yogg-Saron. The chance that you will get at least one Mage spell that has no potential to benefit your opponent is 91% in the current Standard meta (though Mana Bind is coming in and some cards like Dragon's Breath are rotating out so this percentage is likely higher) and 94% in Wild. Chances of getting at least one "premium" purely beneficial spell like the ones mentioned above (worth at least 3 mana, the cost difference between this guy and Servant of Yogg-Saron) are 82% in (current) Standard and 83% in Wild (*I didn't count Volcanic Potion as purely beneficial for these calculations, but it likely would be in most Control Mage decks). Don't count him out yet, I'd say he's at least "Playabke". "Slow and steady wins the race", so sayeth the Tortollan Primalist!
I am pretty sure Echo of Medivh would not give you this back. Battlecries tend to trigger before the minion is actually on the board. (See for example Knife Juggler throwing a knife after being stolen by Mind Control Tech
Knife Juggler/Snipe seem to follow weird rules when it comes to battlecry effects. In theory, Snipe should (in my opinion) trigger first and negate the battlecry if it kills the minion that is played but we can't all have what we want now can we? Echo of Medivh does copy Servant of Yogg-Saron when he is played, so it would copy this guy too. I assume this is because the spell being cast is a direct result of the battlecry on the card being played, and therefore is cast "after" Tortollan Primalist is on board
If it was not so expensive... 8 mana is almost unplayable.
Definitely Playabke
if this card gives you a copy of the spell that you discover into your hand as well as the random cast ability, this card could be playable
I don't understand this concept being fun. For who? It's another one of those "I will screw you up at random" cards. Fun.
Yeah, because Yogg-Saron clearly doesn't have ANY fans, right?
At least it's fun and it's for every class
Since it is a discover, unlike yogg you will only be presented with cards for your class, and since you get 3 tries at it there is a decent chance you end up with a non-garbage result. Still bad, but might see play in arena compared to other epics.
this card is the personification of hearthstone in general.

This card could be good, but 'random' effect destroy it.
