Because secrets can only be triggered on the opponent turn.
An example with Ice Block:
Because since Novermber 2014 secrets can only activate on your opponents turn, you should know that by now.
Rip Gadgetzan Auctioneer
He had the best deals anywhere
Assassinate costs 5 (and isn't usually played anyway) while Gadgetzan Auctioneer costs 6. 6+5>10. Granted, Rogue has a ton of coins, but without Tomb Pillager it'll be at least a little difficult for Rogue to deal with it.
wew must not forget that at the end of the day there are very few good 7-drops in ths game and a 7 mana 9/9 Beast is a pretty good deal, assuming Midrange-curve Hunter becomes a thing again.
I don't know why people think this is going to be a control card tho. This is an aggressive minioon with a defensive attribute, as in: If youhave the board and play this, your opponent is in a lot of trouble.
Sure, i can be removed by a lot of things, but then again...will every deck be able to run these kinds of removals. If people actually run emperor cobra just because of this then it already succeeded in being a good card.
I hear a lot of "cards that require opponents to counterplay on their turn are usually bad"...but just think about when your oppponent DOESN't have a counter to this on turn 7. What if a druid's only answer to this is an Ancient of War....which will be dropped to one health, easily picked off by any smaller minion or spell while the giant T-rex smashes his face in.
The thing is, this isn't a win-condition. this is a sort-of Dr. Boom for HUnter, as in: you pla this un turn 7. If your opponent deals with it, so be it, and if they don't they are pretty fucked.
hunter still has CoW as a turn 9 play, and they still have Highmane, which, as you might know, is a supreme target for enemies to waste removal on.
People should stop expecting grand hyper legendaries for HUnter. Gahz'rilla was a fine legendary but overshadowed by Boom. Dreadscale saw some use in fun decks (and even tournament decks at some point), Huhuran is a great card if you actually bother to build a N'zoth Hunter deck (which just happened to not be a very good deck) and Knuckles would have probably seen play if handbuff Hunter were a thing.
hunter legendaries are always defined by meta instead of meta defining, and honestly, this might just be the first one to actually just be playable in any regular Hunter deck (given that Hunter is playable)
I think we might be pleasantly (or maybe not as pleasantly if on the receiving end) surprised by this guy and I'm most likely gonna craft him just to be able to ahve fun with him. Since when did Hunter need legendaries to be good anyways?
I summon my ancient of war in attack form! *audience gasps*
This card is a double-edged sword. It's good because your opponent has to use removal or any of the minions left currently on the board to deal this card. The bad side, however, is that your opponent can counter by playing Divine Shield, Deathrattle, or Poisonous minions. They can also find a way to kill it by playing minions (that the opponent feels is less "useful") with high attack. If you look at the bad side, though, there are some good potential in that. The card at least popped the Divine Shield or Deathrattle minion. Another way to look at it is your opponent may have wasted a certain amount of cards just to deal with this ONE card, unless he cleared it before by using a Poisonous minion or some type of removal.
Another note I want to make. Emperor Cobra (pre-BGH) vs Swamp King Dred (Hunter's Dr. 7)
Does this card work with Dirty Rat? I guess not since it says "plays"?
"When your opponent plays a minion." It only works on their turn.
I'm assuming OP meant if you play Dirty Rat while you have King Dred on the board, does the minion summoned by Dirty Rat get clapped? I'd assume not since the wording implies that your opponent ''played'' the minion, I'd guess to re-use the Onyxia exemple, she would also get killed, but the whelps would stick.
If your opponent plays Dirty Rat, yes that would work as you described.
We were referring to if you control Swamp King Dred and you play Dirty Rat, would that prompt the effect or not? Which it would not.
Depends on what you mean, if you play this and then rat then no it wont attack the card that comes out of their hand.
On the other hand if you mean you play dirty rat and that comes out of their hand, it WILL attack your dirty rat.
That is what I meant :)
Another king dust
yeah a real lemon... NOT
