Whoever played Dirty Rat cries.
I'm not sure but as a gut feeling I would not be surprised if Dirty Rat ended up as dinner for Swamp King Dred.
Order of operations is:
It's why Leeroy Jenkins can die before he gets to attack if the opponent has a Knife Juggler, and why Reno Jackson can kill you if you have an Unlicensed Apothecary in play.
So Dirty Rat would be summoned, his Battlecry would pull out Swamp King Dred, and then he'd be considered "played" by the game. And promptly get eaten alive.
So this thing is vulnerable to removal, sure, but if you're playing a control deck, your opponent has to worry about a pile of other threats as well. If this thing comes out late in the game after a lot of the removal is used up, it's pretty much game.
If you have no care for game balance then sure, a 9 attack 7 cost stealth minion that automatically kills your opponents played minions is pretty cool.
If however you do care for the health of the game then its a terrible idea. It might work if Dred himself couldn't attack on your turn though.
Really I suspect this is one of those cards that couldn't be neutral precisely because rogues could stealth it.
I forgot it would lose stealth, which matters a lot in this case. But more than that i think it is wrong to try to push legendaries as far as balance allows them. Free-to-play would be harder than it already is if even half of the legendaries were powerful enough to see competitive play.
What you can do is turn 9 Dred and Crackling Razormaw, then there is a 3/10 chance you do have a stealthed dred, so the option is out there if you want to have fun with it.
King Krush v Swamp King Dred
Long Live the King.
I will be genuinely concerned if and only if the hunter quest fits an archetype totally different from what this card fits. Control hunter would be amazing. And those hard removals might already be wasted on highmanes if you curve out well. Not only that, but if hunter gets more decent early game threats, your opponent's removal could be used up long before turn 7.
Not sure why everyone keeps calling this a control card, it really isn't. He'll shine in mid-range as both a tempo and value card, Without hard removal, the value is obvious. Sure he can work in a control deck but with Sir Finley rotating out, hunter control will be worse than it already was.
The whole reason CoTW got nerfed was because it was a strong mid-range/aggro follow up that made it so you had to clear hunter board as often as possible and be able to deal with the board after it's cast. Sure he's easy to remove, but so are almost all minions individually yet this bad-boy isn't going down to AOE.
Nd now if you can Crackling Razormaw him, he's downright indestructible. Imagine him not being able to be targeted by spells.
too bad Sylvanas Windrunner is going to Wild.
so pretty much, don't play Swamp King Dred in wild...
I reached rank 4 during the Karazhan era and I remember that Hunters even excluded Highmanes from their decks because of Hex. And now they give Hunters even more expensive cards that can be removed even easily. How about a legendary with battlecry "draw some friggin cards"?
Stealth may be good but it doesn't make much sense for the card. I mean, how could this giant massive dinosaur dude be hidden at all.
Not sure I understand the rage people seem to have.
Hunter is in a bad spot right now, indisputably. The answer to that is either give them back face hunter, or give them a new direction to go. A 7/7 for 9 is indisputably strong stats, and the ability is potentially very strong as well. It fits into an archtype that's never QUITE worked, but has occasionally been close. Dealing with Savannah Highmane turn 6 into this turn 7 is something almost no deck wants to do.
It's possible this ability doesn't end up being very strong, given the existence of Adapt, but being countered by an ability (poisonous) that is presently never seen in constructed is far from ruinous.
Not to mention that there's only about a 30% chance of getting Poisonous off adapt.
Play one Adapt unit, pick poison. Epic fail.

Easy Dreadsteed
Key word, play, not summon, it doesn't work.
