I feel like a 3/3 Bloodsail Raider that doesn't kill Patches is a better turn 2 play than a 3/4 that does. Not to mention, pirate warrior really likes getting Bloodsail Cultist off, and that's harder to do if you take a pirate out of your deck and put a pirate-killer in. And you need a 1/1 pirate to eat for good value, and that's rare late-game.
I'll admit that murlocs aren't nearly as good as pirates in the current meta anyway, but if it can't run a 1-mana 3/4 Hungry Crab because you need to kill a friendly minion, Pirate can't run a 2-mana 3/4.
But hey, maybe this turns out to be some really meta shit (running Golakka Crawler in your pirate deck rather than another pirate so the opponent's Golakka Crawler has nothing to kill.
Does anyone else find it sad that this is one of the most viable and useful cards in the set?
no because we're not even halfway through the set and this isnn't actually that useful
HOLD YOUR HORSES FRIEND, right now we know 16/135 cards, thats around 12% or less than 1/8 of the total cards.
It looks decent, and certainly the Meta police we needed (maybe not enough) but you can't just go ahead and claim that so soon.
i was saying that out of the cards currently released. we've still got a few to go. i just have a feeling that if the pirate meta don't break down, we may be seeing an awful lot of this card.
Because i have seen blizzard's balancing style and the only thing they will do to stop pirates is this or another even more overpowered deck.
I'm a fan of the idea of cards like this and Hungry Crab, which can stop certain decks in their tracks. But in practice, when was the last time anyone threw a crab in their deck? I suspect this will see some play due to how relevant pirate decks are right now, especially by faster decks that are heavier at the 2 mana point, but I think most of us will end up keeping Acidic Swamp Ooze in our two-slot.
I agree - that's why my next sentence was referencing the relevancy of pirate decks!
My purpose of bringing up the crab was mostly because I like these styles of cards - cards that represent hard counters to a particular tribe. I think every tribe should have something like this as a potential check from the meta getting too out of hand ala pirates.
funny you should ask but i was actually toying with the idea of running Hungry Crab now that the Finja package gained some traction. One mana 3/4 that destroys an enemy warleader sounds pretty sweet
Also, Ooze isn't even that good against Pirate Warrior because they just have so many weapons that you're probably better off running more taunts...at least that's my opinion.
Crawler at least gives you a decent body on turn 2 that usually can't be removed easily while at the same time removing an annoyingenem minion...and can even be used later in the game against other sturdier pirates like Southsea Captain or Bloodsail Cultist
Auto-include at least one of these in Beast decks. I would include it right now in my Reno Priest deck.
People play ooze to counter weapons so why not this to counter pirates? Yes pirates are less common but a 2 mana 3/4 that kills a 1/1 or better strongly counters all pirate decks. Being a beast it could also synergise with a potential menagerie deck.
I think the effect of printing this card is dual bladed knife as it could possibly reinforce pirate decks instead of being a cool tech against them. It is a totem golem for pirate warrior w/o the overload. After N'zoth 1st mate and patches you get patches to attack on t2 again, then slam the crab. Seems strong to me.
Luckydo Buccaneer wasn't so Lucky this time
ii don't think hhe could ever be considered lucky since he was printed a Rogue card..
I'm just glad we have another universally useful tech card against Pirate Warrior, even if it's not the most powerful thing Blizzard could have came up with. I mean, even if you don't get Pirates for lunch a 2 mana 2/3 isn't the worst thing in the world.
Patches tech card LUL
Don't see how this is good; just attack it's weak point for massive damage....
underrated comment, have my upvote
well hunter is gonna kick pirates ass now, this is a auto include for hunter
